I was thinking today about what this would do to all aspects of eve, whether positive or negative. It would certainly make 0.0 a lot bigger and make everything more valuable. There would be a lot more fights to defend space. But it would also make everything in the station vulnerable too. I have lots of ideas about this. I would like to hear your opinions, for or against and why. Debate!

This is an idea that is a hot discussion, it woudl be good and would make 0.0 warfare all or nothing.

Destroyable to the point where you can't dock and need to repair them to make them usable again. YES
Destroyed as in all assets inside it gone poof, NO.
Would make things interesting. You could deny the enemy there safe haven.

Agreed, that would be bad.
So have everything in the station drop in multiple cans when it blows up

No, it needs to be all the way....pop the station, a small percentage of the goods/ships drop. Could be very interesting at older stations.... A small percentage in some stations could be 100's of ships, thousands of containers...think of the vultures on hand hoping to pull out a plum!
It would force people to think a bit harder about what they store in player owned stations...

No doubt there. I was just a broke noob when we lost it, but I still have quite a pile of goodies stashed in Oberon Pri... er, Bar Mleczny. Being the 2nd oldest outpost in the game, and being in the system that held the static Sanshas 10/10, I can only imagine what would drop from there.

They should have been made completely destroyable, all personal assets on station destroyed. No insurance money. Offlined docked characters should get podded.
The only exception should be to the clone, which should not be destroyed but instead relocated to empire.

Why the clone exception ? If people and corporations can lose Billions in ISK then clones get cooked as well.

Edited by: Discrodia on 02/09/2011 21:19:39 Would be cool, just so long as there was a lot of warning about it. For example, when the station gets to 0 hull, a 3 or 4 hour countdown begins. It functions as normal during that, and at the start of said countdown the owner of the station and anyone with assets gets a mail saying the station is collapsing. If they could rep the station up to half hull by the time the countdown was over, the station could be stabilized and saved.
However, if that countdown ends, the station begins to collapse. Another countdown, half an hour long, begins. The station randomly ejects active pilots in the station, along with stored containers and ships. Periodically the station erupts in bursts of plasma that do heavy damage to nearby pilots. After this countdown ends, all un-ejected pilots are launched. One final, one-minute countdown begins.
At the end of this last countdown, the station explodes, dealing colossal damage to anything on-grid, and anything short of a capital within 100km of the station would be destroyed outright. Anything inside the station has a 90% chance of being destroyed. However, the station would split into a number of chunks, all travelling at high speed (from 300m/s to 1.5km/s) away from station, all containing items, which would be highly rewarding for ships that could catch them. A number of cans could also be dropped.
Players who were inactive, in their ships at time of detonation would lose their ship and have a 25% chance of logging in in their pod at the ruins of the station. They would also have a 75% chance of being podded. If their clones were in the station when they died, they would respawn at their racial starting station with the same clone level as their last clone.
That's how I see this working, if it were implemented. However, I doubt it will be. Cool idea tho.

Because then your character is in limbo, unable to login because it no longer exists, not even a clone.

I can see the benefits to reducing sov holdings by doing so.
But I can also see even less people bothering with null if all their assets are at risk as well.
This is a BIG call.

If your only active clone is on an outpost and it's destroyed, then you go back to a new clone at your home system. Just like it works in the rest of eve.
More incentive to have jump clones spread out is not a bad thing. Stupid choices are supposed to be punished.

Lets face it, the builder of a station has zero profit mostly from stations.
Most stations build are now owned by other alliances, then the original builders.
