I was flying out in lowsec looking for a good fight, when I came across someone else seemingly doing the same. I engaged him, and as soon as the fight started, a falcon decloaked and begane jamming me...
The fight lasted a good 4 or 5 minutes, as the guy was doing absolute crap for damage, but I was permajammed the entire time, and I didnt think to self destruct until it was too late.
I've always been told lowsec is the "best pvp in eve" but this seems to be the only kind of combat I see there anymore. Tbh, I'm starting to like the highsec wardeccing style of combat much better

When i started playing eve a few years ago you could get a solo fight in lowsec sometimes. Now you do good if you can get less than 5vs5.
Eve is all about mid size gangs(10-50 per side) and large fleet fights now. You can still on occasion get one. Just not very likely. Eve is not really a game you solo anyway, kind of defeats the whole social/teamwork aspect.

Small gang PVP is probably the most enjoyable PVP available in Eve and there is plenty of it in low sec. You get the social interaction, the teamwork and tactics, the chance to fly ships that are not viable solo and a much wider range of targets that can be engaged. I'm not saying that you can't or should not solo but solo'ing is a very specialised and skill and equipment intensive business if you want to win more than you lose.
You learn loads by taking 10 or 20 frigs out into low or null and just engaging things and I really do think it's a good thing to do but you must expect to lose these ships and you probably will not get too many 'fair' fights. It's just an investment in your PVP education - fit only what you can afford to lose and remember insurance is your friend.
The concept of 'solo' will always be slightly flawed as you are likely up against slave/snake sets and boosting alts even when you are thinking that you are fighting only one other ship. Don't obsess over the solo thing, most of the time small gangs get more fights and more fun.

Good day Acktose5123:
There are a number of combat pilots, including myself -- Dorian Tormak is one -- fly solo. A number of us who fly solo fly true solo (i.e. no boosting ship following us around).
Prior to entering any engagement, you should look at who is in local (your local tab should be separate), and what corporation / alliance they are in.
Learn dscan (which doesn't help with cloak-based ships that are using their cloak).
Avoid systems where typically pilots, even if they are not in the same corp / alliance, tend to work together such as Amamake.
While I do get 1v1 opportunities (win and lose), it is more common to find 1v2 and 1v3 (where I'm the 1). Those are doable depending on what you are flying and how you fly.
Thank you. --- Mara Abraham

You're right... you should totally judge lowsec PVP off of one fight.

Good day:
99% of the time Mystical is flying an expensive, faction fit Cynabal or Tengu. Btw, he flies with expensive LG speed implants... so I'm sure no one in Amamake can catch him.
He's awesome at taking up to 20+ ships at a time picking off what he can get while staying alive.
I'm not sure why or how, but so far Heritic not gotten him.
Thank you.

Dying to Falcon/Rook is the cost of business for flying solo. To avoid loss, fly something that can fight outside of web/warp scram range (which is not Gallente, and hence why there are so few players who pvp with Gallente).
Otherwise, put the opponent's corp on your black list and don't engage them in the future.

Either Im very lucky or some people just dont try hard enough because I can find a decent fight if I look hard enough in lowsec. The trick is to learning how to use your D-scan. You need to be scanning on the go, locating every single person in local if you can. All the while checking out their profile, corp, and alliance. When you find a target to engage you need to be constantly scanning 360 degrees around you to watch for any ships warping in. Always be ready to warp out if someone comes in or if you get down to hull, and ALWAYS be ready to die.

You can solo in low sec, just don't expect solo to mean 1v1. I do on very rare occasion get a proper 1v1 with something that stands a decent chance but it's incredibly rare. Typically solo means you vs him, his falcon alt and his friends. The key to soloing successfully is to just accept that and plan for it. The standard method is by going nano. Falcons are not known for their speed and they only jam to around 100km, get beyond that and you can continue fighting even if he's still on grid. If you pay attention to local and your d-scanner, you'll also see any reinforcements coming a good 10s or more before they arrive. That's more than enough time to get plenty of distance between you and where they will land. At that point it's a matter of deciding if you can divide and conquer or just need to bail.
Obviously in order for this to work, you must be able to dictate the range of the fight. So your best bet is a quick kiting ship with medium ranged weapons. The vagabond/cynabal/fleet stabber is the most obvious choice but there are other options too like the recons, caracal and even the lowly vexor/arbitrator. At the frigate hull size, the nano-slicer and nano-comet are very solid. Pretty cheap too all things considered.
A far riskier but also funnier method is to fit your ship to crush a small fleet solo. This typically revolves around the opposing side not realizing just how powerful said ship can be. Typically this method also requires pirate implants and a booster alt hidden off grid. Whether or not you count that as solo is up to you, but my view on the matter is one ship on grid means solo, scouts/boosters don't count. So with that in mind, a tengu boosted maelstrom with HG crystals and a blue pill is pretty nasty in the right hands. You can solo up to 6x well fit BC's or 3-4x BS's like that and more often then not, they will go for it. The only problem is since you can't run away or pull any sort of range, you are completely at the mercy of falcons, hotdrops and other douche-baggery. It's amazingly lol worthy when it works though. Another example is the 400k EHP abaddon that still pumps out 1000 dps with drones. That's HG slaves with a legion booster. Little less potent than the mael for solo but it does have better tackle since it can fit a web. Can also slap an ECCM on it for better ECM drone resistance.

Steer clear of Heimatar and Metropolis, they're good areas for small gang pvp, not necessarily solo. If you can't afford buying a set of expensive implants, the racial low grade eccm sets like spurs only run about 80mil a pop. While they won't give you immunity to falcons they do provide a measure of safety against ECM drones. ------------

Go in a faction war plex and you will have some control over how many you are fighting at once. Often a t1 cruiser is nice as you will often get a few t2 frigates/destroyers/bombers coming at you.
You may want to invest in some faction war implants to help with getting jammed.
Small gang stuff is nice. But I am frequently interrupted when I play eve so I have to fly mostly solo.
Expect that people will gang up on you. Don't let it upset you. Its all part of the game and why flying solo is challenging. Ammamake is decent place to get solo fights but Dal right next store seems to be even better for solo. -Cearain

I get solo fights all the time:
Vengeance v Wolf Vengeance v Jaguar Vengeance v Ishkur
Those are all recent, and just yesterday I managed another half dozen or so solo fights.
Location is pretty important, though. I found Molden Heath, for example, to be very blobby. Still managed some solo fights there, however. http://flight-of-dragons.blogspot.com/ |

Gallente low sec is actually pretty nice for solo once you leave Old Man Star/Heydieles - try out Hevrice (where The Tuskers live, we honor 1v1s) and around Essence/Placid/Verge Vendor. Most of the fights there are solo, with a few larger fleets moving through. Not many Falcons either.

Hah! Yeah, I had a Sabre jump in and vapourise me. I would have accepted your ransom offer, too, so his involvement cost me a pretty penny, although it all worked out in the end.
