EVE gate, although not as useful as it could be(Please let me update my skill queue without a client)it is not useless, as All of it's services are currently offline. C'mon CCP, at least let me use your out of game service when out of game. My enemy is the enemy of my other enemy, unless my enemy hates me more than my other enemy in which case my enemies are friends. |

They'll put it back up on Monday (or Tuesday or the week after) when they have upgraded EVE Gate with the new forums and features. --------

What's EvE Gate?
Does it do anything more than what 3rd party smartphone apps already do? _____________________________________

Yes, it makes it so I don't need a smartphone to check my mails on the computer of mine can now no longer run EVE, due to being almost broken and having a crappy video card that can't run incarna My enemy is the enemy of my other enemy, unless my enemy hates me more than my other enemy in which case my enemies are friends. |

It would be nice to be able to check the mail at work again.....however I'm not surprised they've screwed it up. Wasting time on forums and eve gate is why the game is in such sad shape these last couple of years.

It allows you to read evemail without being logged into the game.

wishful thinking:
they updated their production system at the end of the week so they could use the weekend to fix any unexpected issues before official release on monday.

It allows you to read evemail without being logged into the game.
Currently attempting to use that function of eve gate returns an error.....

Reading that mail right now) You need to use a full API key in evemon and also click the little key button to the right of the window under skill stats and check Mail there -----------------

Whilst you happen to be passing, I don't suppose you know if they'll be able to keep EVEGate online during downtimes, so you can check your EVE-mails and such?
with the Forums being linked into this now, one-out, all out is a concern I have.
Remember what happened when Lulzsec poked the login servers? I know they were offlined as a precaution, but I don't want to loose access to everything again just because something fell over/was offlined.

Some of its features remain offline during downtime, including profiles, broadcast and the (upcoming) forums. I'll ask around if there are any plans to keep the mail, contacts and calendar online as well.
P.S. We're still working on resolving that issue.

Nope so hopefully you use facebook or twitter because thats the only way you will find out about extended DTs. Since updates on the site w/o forums are usually the last to be updated.

The issue with EVE Gate has been resolved, but we are still working to fix the underlying cause. If you come across any other problems with EVE Gate, please let us know!

Cheers, and my bad too, I did mean the mail, calendar, etal.
Being able to access the Mail, calendar and contacts would be quite useful, also being able to export calendar events into external applications such as Thunderbird / Google Calendars ( for example ) would be a real level of useful. ;)
Cheers for the hard work the people in the background are putting in too.

I'll believe it when I see it. But looking at the poor state of the new forums atm, I very much doubt it.
What year are we in?

Edited by: Wizlawz on 03/09/2011 13:20:49 i thought EVE-Gate was also suppose to be able to allow communication other than through mail via chat or voice, is this going to be implemented as well?
i mean everytime i go on chat its the dev chat and NO ONE is EVER on. so how about a chat for corps / alliances and or contacts.
also it seems i cant tell if any of my contacts or corp mates are online either.

EVE Voice is already available on the EVE Gate (more information is in this knowledge base article; as for chat support and other features, I'll have to ask around.

Good joke. Also, is the bear in the woods where the tree fell catholic ? Prepare for incoming barrage of "we're sorry" and "we could have not foreseen that" or similar after the new forums go live. No, you're not really sorry, and you certainly could have foreseen that. _
