i installed the new drivers, and eve starts up again right now(while before installing it didn't, i checked to be sure) so hopefully it is fixed now. thanks alot for the help everyone! ill come back in a few hours to tell if its still working or not
I had a similar issue, start with a clean install and then get an updated bios on the motherboard then install the chipset drivers. That fixed a lot of crashing issues on my Asus A8N with the single core version of that chip. -------------

did it give you an error message?
just out of curiocity, what drivers did you install? maybe you can go back a revision or two
To make my system stable i needed to 1 update bios 2 update chipset driver 3 update mobo driver
One thing I might also suggest is to take out all but one or two sticks of ram and see how it runs. If you still get problems, try a different pair on a different DIMM slot. Maybe a memtest is in order.
Another thing you may do, though its kinda far fetched is that you may have a problem with your hard drive haveing a bad sector, this usually would result in a system crash or at least messages saying something was unacceptable. If you have an old HD laying around, plug it in a just put tanks on it and see how it goes.
And if you are useing win 7 try forcing DX9 or DX10 mode. Maybe your install of DX has gone bad.

thats the Nvidea driver. So I think you are haveing a driver stability issue, see if you can get a 6 month old version of the driver and install that one. -------------

Try the newest drivers if you havent already http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-280.26-whql-driver.html
also you can try the alder drivers archived over at guru3d. The last big driver before the 280 series was the 275.50 which can be found here http://downloads.guru3d.com/Nvidia-GeForce-275.50-Win-7-64-bit-download-2738.html
and if you really want to turn back the clock try the one here from last year http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-Forceware-259.32-Win-7-%7C-Vista-64-bit-download-2605.html -------------
