I have a little group of mine and were going to start doing Lvl 4's. Were a small group of 4 and i was wondering what type of ships would be good for these type of missions.
1.A battleship fitting for tanking would be nice also. (>Armageddon<)
2.Type of ships that would smoothly back up the battleship.
Thanx For Posting :D

You don't need tank very much, just fit for gank. Level 4 can be done very easily solo, with very little tank, go figure...

Sounds like your all new, so setup someone as a dedicated Tank, and others for gank. A Drake would be more than fine for tanking purposes or a BS either will do. But if you do have a guy go the Drake route, it's very easy for them to tank full room aggro with a passive fit. I would be slightly tempted to get them setup with assault missiles launchers so they spew out a lot of standard missiles fast at frigs and have them be your anti-frig boat if no one in your party has decent drone skills.
My reasoning is quite simple on this, web/scram NPCs are frigates in lv4's and they are hard to kill with BS sized weapons. So you usually use drones to destroy them, but if no one has good drone skills it may take a little while to destroy them. Not to mention this frees up 3 guys to focus on harder NPCs.
Overall though tanking shouldn't be an issue there are 4 people if you need to, you can use remote reps on each other if it comes down to it. And use Eve Survival its a guide on missions, though I think it's down at this moment though should hopefully be back up shortly.

An Armageddon isn't an ideal tank ship. What other options do you have available?

For tank, something in an Amarr BS. They tend to be very tanky, what with the armour tanks and perma-rep fits.
For gank, I've been soloing missions in a Maelstrom for a little while. 800mm T1 ACs, and good GOD does it put out a delicious amount of boom. I just love cracking frigates and cruisers in 1-3 volleys if I catch them right. An arty fit is known as the alpha mael for a reason. With someone drawing aggro, you can sit somewhere and just pop away at things at a nice long distance.
A sub-BS class would do well for small-craft cleanup. BC down to frigate size is good for popping web/scram frigs, and taking out caldari ECM ships, which are the bane of ganky fits. I'd take a BS for it myself, possibly a cane. Or a gallente drone boat.
MAYBE a Noctis for clearing up wrecks as they're created, but that's optional. One of the other missioners can easily just swap to one and clean up as it's being turned in.
And if you've got someone who just wants to help, maybe an industrial in-system but off-grid in case people need topping up with ammo.
And with multiple people, you could pack a few logistic drones to keep tank topped up and compensate for any tank/aggro screwups.
