Well please forgive me if I don't agree.
I want to play a fully developed eve and not a vampire game or yet another console shooter in a market saturated with console shooters.
EVE development hasn't been dumped. As limited as resources may be, CCP still has a team working on EVE. It's a sign that CCP is in no position to abandon their main project anytime soon. Once Dust 514 has been rolled out, I'm sure more resources will be re-allocated to EVE's development.
You people act as if you're entitled to everything you ask for, and yet the only thing CCP asks from its players is a subscription fee, which can be circumvented completely if the player desires. Despite whatever misgivings you may have about EVE's current state, it's still the best persistent MMO available. If you don't like it, the door is always open for you to leave. No one cares.
Name one feature that has been finished to completion. Just one! The only current active development in eve is the avatar technology that is just a front for world of darkness develpoment. Avatar technology has no gameplay influance in eve and is totally eye candy and optional.

Considering how malleable MMO development is, can you really say that any feature can be complete, no matter how much effort goes into its development? Consider how long EVE has been running. I think it's obvious that its development is a constantly ongoing process. That said, however, I don't think anyone would be playing EVE if it didn't feel whole in some way. I certainly wouldn't be, anyway.
As far as the Incarna features go. Sure, they're fairly useless in their current state, but who's to say that it's always going to be like that? CCP has been wanting these features in EVE for a very long time, so acting as though Incarna is a complete front for World of Darkness is ridiculous. So what if they use Carbon in WoD? Do you hold the same argument for other developers when they use their own technology in other games?

Thats a lot of spin you are tossing out there mate. Be careful you don't get dizzy and fall flat on your face.
So instead of useless damage control why don't you answer the question? Name one feature that has ever been introduced that is more than just a bare framework with endless promises of being fleshed out at a future date.
I dare you.

Personally, I think signatures are pretty useless. I find that they do nothing except clutter up the forum environment. I don't have signatures activated at all, and every other forum I frequent doesn't allow them.
Useless in what regard?
You said you have them disabled which is "your" choice. You have that choice at present soon you will not.

Honestly, I'm not qualified to answer your question, because I haven't been playing EVE long enough to really say. I just started playing this year.
Regardless of whatever unfinished business there is, it's still the best persistent MMO available. You can't deny that.
And... damage control? Not really. That's just how development goes. Something can always be improved in some way.

I don't think the removal of signatures is such a big deal, to be honest.

Don't bother arguing with a ccp alt/blind fanboi. Not unless you like taking a spin on the damage control carousel.

If yo ujust started playing this year then you can be forgiven. Stick around a bit and you will see that ccp has built a fabulous ivory tower that is very very pretty from the outside and the first few rooms look quite grand. But once you start exploring around you will soon figure out its a mostly empty tower.
This is ccp's great gamble. That the new subs will be wowed with the limited unfinished content and keep paying them.
But as a 7 year bitter vet I can tell you right now that ccp promises the world but only delivers a couple of acres of rocky land.

Ah, so now the tears are flowing. You must have a headache from trying to think of a decent argument.

Every expansion has added new content that has always been the barest of frameworks. now for a new player with only a year into the game the eve universe can seem like and endless bounty of awesomeness. But the thing is that the skill system and the gameplay mechanics force you into a years long advancement into the top content. You have not been playing nearly long enough to reach the dead ends that every single new feature has. So like I said you can be forgiven because you are new and are still skilling up for the most basic of professions. This is not your fault and I can see you having at least another couple of years of fun before you wake up one day to log in and realise that nothing in this game is in a finished state.
This is ccp's great gamble.
That they can continue to keep drawing in new subs to fund the other projects at the expense of eves core gameplay.
You too will become a bitter vet and look back on this thread and hang your head in shame.

Well, is EVE at least fun to you in some way? I mean, there's a reason you still play it, right? I know that, if the game ever stops being fun for me, I'll definitely drop it cold turkey, as there's no point in putting time into something you don't enjoy. There are plenty of other games to play, after all.
If you invest enough emotion into a game to become bitter, I would say that's caring a bit too much. It's just a game.

I haven't actively played eve for over a year. I have tens and tens of billions of isk from my 7 years of playing eve. So its no issue to me to resub off a plex bought with isk to come here and keep up the good fight for the greater good of eve. Like I said there is more than enough content to last you for a couple of years if you diversify your activities but sooooo much of eve is unfinished. You will not see this for a while so its understandable that you are defending the game so vehemently.
Tbh we need players like you if us bitter vets ever want eve to be finished so we can come back and enjoy ourselves again. But please do not belittle us because ccp decided that short term profits to fund projects outside of eve has us in a fury.
As far as other games of course I have jumped ships. I currently play world of tanks with a rather large portion of the nullsec playerbase who got tired of ccp's endless promises. Now don't be angry at me for this as its natural for a person to bail from something unfun to something that is fun.

To be fair you say you are new so I guess it hard for you to understand the long living entity that is Eve. Now we can have a forum exactly like the other ones you frequent, yey .
Oh well I guess we still got Kugu, they should just link the new COAD forum there and be done with it.

Expect the same endless promises with wod as with eve.

It's apparent that you are correct about one thing, you've been out of the loop for a very long time, but you don't let that stop you from talking out of your ass.
1: Every game company uses their assets from ongoing projects to fund new projects.
2: Companies that don't will die, and their games along with them.
3: Development of a graphics engine that will enrich both games is a smart move, which is probably not obvious to people who don't understand that said development must be done incrementally. Those would be the same people that look at the initial framework for Incarna and can't understand that there is more to come.
4: MMO's, by necessity, never stop developing and iterating on content. If a feature were ever "complete", that would be the first step in the long slide into oblivion.
5: People with your business acumen and level of experience in developing online games are ideally suited to a future in fast food management.

1. But not every compnay is financialy sound enough to embark on multiple projects.
2. Patently false. Companies that bail from one game to another to keep the status quo are the ones that tend to die in a fire.
3. Yes of course. 'more to come' This has been a standard of eve development for nearly a decade. Hey guys look at this shiney new content and resub! Now don't be alarmed that said new content is actually just a bare framework with little actual content but hey we promise to flesh it out in time. Really! No! Really we promise!!!!!
4. Even world of warcraft when it introduces new content make sure its feature complete. You never get a new class with only a fraction of its content on launch day. Ever.
5. Lol. Well its a known fact that even the cheesiest fast food franchise makes tons more profit than ccp. Besides I can't remember the last time I ordered fast food and only got one of the items orders with a promise of the rest of the meal being delivered at a later date.

5: People with your business acumen and level of experience in developing online games are ideally suited to a future in fast food management.
I don't agree with you.
If CCP were 'selling' any other product you might be right. However, CCP are amazingly lucky to have just one MMO that is successful. It's a bit like winning the lottery first time. The law of averages says that both Dust and WoD will probably fail.
(A big part of the luck is that Eve was 1st 'market entry' for a game of this type, WoD will be 2nd market entry after the Secret World - so it must beat this game, Dust is like 100th market entry - so basically, unless its brilliant it's stuffed.)
In other words, if CCP had re-invested all it's profits into Eve Online, this would actually be safer.
Also, I don't agree that putting effort into WoD and Dust helps Eve at all: WoD takes away creative ideas (for clothes and rooms etc) that Eve could have done with. Dust means that Eve players can never do planet PvP.
