Hello,
I recently ran out of subscription to Eve. I tried through the normal methods (Debit / Credit card /Paypal) to buy a 1 month subscription but kept getting an error msg. I started a petition and was informed by CCP it was a problem with my bank etc. I contacted all my banks and was told there was no problem my end. i contacted CCP again and they again said it was not a fault there end. After further investigation the site will allow me to purchase a Plex for a higher price than a subscription through the same methods so the problem clearly stands with them. I have tried communicating with CCP over this but it has been almost 7 days and they still have not solved this problem and I feel like am being fobbed off. They have not answered any questions i have put to them, have not responded in a reasonable time and I feel completely let down by their customer service. Has anyone else had this problem and can give me any advice?
If I had not spent over a year of hard earned cash playing eve I would of rage quit and never played it again but feel I deserve some service and answers as to why this is happening along with losing out on training skills, trade, roams and the cost and time I have had to put in contacting 4 different banks 3 times on the advice of CCP and then for them to ignore me when I have proved the problem lies with their system.
Any help or answers would be great people.....

Buy a GTC from battleclinic or evetimecodes
But to be honest looks like they don't want you to sign up anymore.

Yeah but my bug is that for a GTC (and plex) it is 19+ Euros but for a 1 month subscription it is 14+ Euros. It's not the extra that bothers me but the principal of the matter that they say it is nothing to do with them but are happy for me to pay more rather than sorting out a problem that lies with them.
Does anyone know if they actually have a service level agreement that states in what time they shall respond back to billing problems because 7 days is appalling and if that is the way they treat someone trying to buy their product they deserve to be shut down.
Another happy customer CCP well done!

A GTC lasts 2 Months so it actually costs 13Euro/month, which is actually cheaper than a sub (assuming you buy 1 month subs)

Yes but due to real life issues I only buy a 1 month sub at a time so I am forced into paying a higher price for a product that I should be able to purchase cheaper and that is no fault of my own. Coupled with not getting answers from CCP, loss of time and money and no resolution in sight that is really not fare on a paying customer.

Don't see the problem really, buy GTC, put code in, get 2 plex, use one plex for now and the other whenever you have time for another month to play.

Swing and a miss.
My point was it is cheaper to buy 1xGTC than it is to buy a 1 month sub.
I really don't see what you are complaining about.

Edited by: 00Teabagger on 06/09/2011 14:41:38 The site would also not let me buy a game time card only a more expensive plex and I was cautious of buying off other sites. Plus I only wanted to pay for a 1 month subscription as stated due to rl issues then me not being able to use it. The point is rather than me having to try and source other methods to play the game at the same price CCP should have helped me with a genuine problem within a reasonable time, I dont think that is too much ask for!
Thanks for the help (criticism)but has anyone else had a similar problem or dealings with CCP that they have managed to sort out? |

CCP ignored my issue too 2 years ago. Took 10 days to get it straightened out, I needed to use an actual credit card, not bank debt card. After I finally got it, CCP then replied, looks like you got it taken care of yourself, grats.
I think of CCP like some of the pirates I have ran into. (leave colorful wording here)
If it wasn't for plexes, which allow me to play for free, I wouldn't be here myself.

Edited by: daddys helper on 06/09/2011 15:23:48 regardless of CCP's CS-foo or lack thereof,
if the difference of 4 euros breaks the bank you really need to sort out your life priorities before worrying about video games
CCP uses a standard pci compliant processing gateway to handle card transactions. this is not user configurable, if theres a problem its with your payment method and the bank, theres nothing in the "code" that anyone can change to make your credit/debit card work since all the gateway does is securly transmit your data to the merchant processor.
thats what they are trying to tell you.

He he Thanks for the help Sherlock and as stated in the last post its not the 4 Euro's that bugs me.
And please tell me why if I am unable to buy subscription/ GTC with 1 debit card and 3 credit cards and Paypal, and after checking with my various banks ( I have a few as my life is awesome and prosperous) they tell me there is no problem and more than enough cleared funds but it still wont let me do it but on the same site I try to buy a more expensive plex with the same payment method it works fine? Cant really see that as a problem my end.
My point:
1) CCP have not done sod all to help me 2) They have not communicated with me in good time and is now almost 7 days 3) It has cost me more money than it should to access my account 4) I have lost out on skill points, trade etc whilst waiting on no response from CCP 5) and last but not least it ****es me off they cant get their act together
Thanks though :)

Possible today but, when I ran into the issue the bank said no cause it's a overseas transaction. Which is who's fault? The bank or CCP or just the players for playing a game oversea's?
thats what they are trying to tell you.

Cheers Bongsmoke and nice to know am not the only one that has had problems.
Still I cant see that being a problem as i tried with four different payment methods and they were accepted on the Plex just not on the sub/gtc. Just want some answers from CCP that this will be sorted for when I run into the problem next time and some Customer Service!! :)

thats what they are trying to tell you.
so yeah, its a bank issue, not CCP. fraud prevention is a joke these days and companies flag transactions for mind numbingly stupid reasons, and thats when they will actually tell you what the problem is, many won't since it reveals their fraud monitoring strategies.
a product purchase and a subscription purchase are 2 different things even though in this case they are the same. Plus most processors and banks see CCP listed in their merchant records as "video game arcade" (yes, one of my cards flagged a GTC purchase from CCP as fraud and thats what the merchant info line read)
really its all on you and your card.
and for the record you should learn about the limitations of the type card you use.
for instance if I make a purchase on my debit card for 100 bucks and the merchant forgets to charge sales tax or shipping and has to void the transaction and try again, the bank will end up holding over 200 dollars of my funds for upwards of 3 weeks while the void clears out and could cause other things to not get paid.
a credit card won't do this, it only will hold for the final value at the end of the day when the batch runs.
and thats only one of the many many differences between credit and debit that you have never even heard of

Ok but a GTC is a purchase and still would not allow me to buy that?
Plus I have used all four of my cards in the past for subscriptions without a problem, I cant really see how all of these would suddenly introduce these harsh fraud prevention methods and the same time.
Answers to that on a postcard please! :0

learn to quote already....
anyhow, heres how it works
you select a product that info is passed in a hidden field to the processing form page on the gateway processor's server where you enter your personal info and card number.
then you hit enter and the form (owned and maintained by the processor) is processed and internal rules dictate what happens next.
all ccp can do in this process is provide the product number and its price to be passed to the form.
the alternitive is they build their own cart and then pass the data to the processor via a standard API from their own page.
again all they provide is a product id, price, your name, billing address, zip, card number, expiry, and CSV code along with their private merchant id and processing token.
even when they control the process, there is nothing they can do as they are still limited to having control over the data being passed and that's all.
now while its not strange to think CCP should have full control over the process they don't, if the damn thing works 99% of the time, its working correctly, hell if it works at all its working, there is no spotty performance or hit or miss, it either processes the card or it throws an error.
success in processing the transaction is not their problem, its up to your bank's policies and those of the processor (there's less than 25 major processors in the world as I understand it)

By God CCP's lil helper you talk gibberish!
I even tried using a friends card who plays eve every month in the same way as I always have and his card too would not work. This is not as simple or as complex as your delightful and interesting (as am sure you are ) answers. Am inclined to believe all four of my reputable banking compardres rather than your good self on this occasion and hope this little thread gave you a glowing feeling inside on your only day you get to use a pc as your on day release i take it.
All the best my "special" chum!
