So I just ran 3 invention jobs and all of them failed, have CCP nerfed the success chance?
Ok, the voices told me to do that and I couldn't resist.
I have a quick question. I remember recently (a couple of months back at most) reading something about a change to the output BPC run calculations when it comes to invention. But I can't remember what it was and yet I was thinking it was pretty major in some circumstances. I think it was something like decryptor bonus runs being applied after everything else (in most formulas you found it's rounded off and you don't actually get as many as the decryptor says in most cases. Yet this doesn't seem correct when I tried it in-game. Again, IIRC, the change meant for most ship inventors that you only need 1-run BPCs now. So was there a change, or did I just dream about it?
Thanks in advance! |

Don't know if you're just trolling me, but since when is the amount of runs on the output BPC random? |

Fixed an issue where BPCs invented with decryptors would sometimes have one less production run than they should have.
That's all i could find from the patch notes. You might be able to find other posts where people delve into it more, or hopefully someone will come to expound on it further here.

Ah, thank you. The way I see it this would basically mean that the formula for BPC runs has changed from (what you see in the wiki):
MIN(MAX(ROUND_DOWN( (Input_T1_BPC_Runs / T1_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy) * (T2_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy / 10) + Decryptor_Runs_Bonus), 1), T2_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy)
To something like:
MIN(MAX(ROUND_DOWN( (Input_T1_BPC_Runs / T1_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy) * (T2_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy / 10)), 1) + Decryptor_Runs_Bonus, T2_Max_Runs_Per_Blueprint_Copy)
Right? This would ensure you always get all the bonus runs from the decryptor or you get T2 BPC max runs. Or was it just some small change where there was some other kind of bug (like where you actually got one run less than you get with the wiki formula) that was fixed? |

pretty much ...
as for the success chances -- yes, they've messed with them, but just for you.

Alright, then I know, thanks for the help.
Also, about the success chances, it's very strange! They're constantly changing them it seems. Just like nanoribbons you know, one site you get 2 and the next you get 15. Why do they hire people to sit there and change the drop chances and invention chances all the time anyway? Why do they not just make them random instead? |

You need to look up the word 'Random' in a dictionary. Maybe you should buy a pair of dice, roll it 100 times, record how many double sixes you get. Do all over again and complain that you only got a couple of double sixes this time, whilst on your first attempt you got 8 double six.
Yes drop chance and invention is random. |

You can't measure this with only 3 invention jobs... I just finished 20 jobs with 2 different BPC's. One of them had 3/10 success rate, other one got 7/10.
Anyway, everyone said that already, it has calculated chance. If you install 100 jobs, you'll get pretty close results to the math most of times. |

Ok, I was being sarcastic, it was obviously not very funny as people didn't seem to get it. Just for the record I never even ran 3 invention jobs. I am well aware how random works. The reason I posted was because I wanted the formula to know if I should get involved in invention or not, because the difference between my two suggested ones is in some cases pretty huge. I figured that would bebome clear if you read the whole first post, not just the first sentence.
Anyway, Velicitia was kind enough to confirm my suspicions, so I got what I wanted, thanks. There's no need to make posts trying to explain how random is random anymore, thanks. |

And now there aren't even enuff Charon BPCs out there for me to start another batch, awesome... :p |
