A corpmate of mine got fairly drunk and said some rather rude things to another player that he was smack talking with in local.
A few days later he received a suspension in light of EULA violations. No reason was stated other than the EULA was violated and the duration of the ban was not indicated.
While I agree he went too far, I personally think a permanent ban is a bit too much if it were the case since the duration is not indicated.
He has responded in a petition and is waiting for a response. Would a case like this be a permanent ban or a temporary ban? |

Temporary, probably. A week? No idea, never been banned for smacktalk.
I'd petition if I were him to find out the length. Also, inb4lock. Rifterlings - small gang frigate PvP - low/nullsec operations, newbie-friendly, free ship program; Join today! www.rifterlings.com

This is in *no way* authoritative, because I am not a GM.
But from what I understand from similar posts made, first infraction is generally temporary ban; although it may very well depend on exactly how rude, rather rude is.
However, the only honest answer can come from a GM and they will only discuss it with the person who was banned, because of all sorts of privacy laws.

Well its not to the level of threatening people but he did throw some slurs around.
Thank you, while your word is not definite, it will comfort my friend to know that his ban is most likely not permanent.
Now just need to prevent him from getting **** ass drunk every time he plays. |

well let's not jump to crazy fixes right away... "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. A hero drinks a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that if he does a split in midair, he can hit twice as many zombies per kick. Drunk hero wins again, wusses." ~Cracked.com |

Can you be more specific about what was said during this conversation? If it's a permanent ban I am thinking real-life threats were involved.

He did not threaten anyone, but he did throw out a few racial slurs and insulted the guys religion during smack talk. |

In that case, I'm sorry but your guess is as good as mine.
However, there is really nothing more to add to this thread, so I'm afraid I have to lock it before it goes places.
