Ore thief, Tew area, called Sky Killer.
Not the brightest spark. He arrived in the system an made straight for my jet can. I legged it to fetch my hauler quick. Rather stupidly, I left my 8 harvester drones behind. Insead of taking 60 million ISK worth of rock-raping machinery, he took about 5000 m3 of scordite.
Lucky for us miners that ore-thieves are thick as mince.

Ore thief, Oursealeart. Stealing ore from the roids in his Brutix, shredding the innocent asteroids before they can grow past a young age.
He uses three secure cans. Thats right, in a 0.9 system. I scoop the three secure cans and warp back to station. He goes "WTF?" -- The best description of alliances, ever:

You do reliaze that Containers and Secure containers are totally seperate options on the overview and that a quick show info and you can tell which ones are player made right?

Most are not bright enough to actually figure that out.
The majority of ore thiefs are newbies who train up a hauler alt to do thier dirty work. Personally I think the majority of them assume that they will make more isk thiefing then mining.

Actually, be it that you were probably in a high sec system, other peoples drones won't respond to someone else's commands. Therefore he probably tried to scoop your drones but it gave him a message saying they do not belong to you, BLAH BLAH BLAH...

I had a somewhat similure experiance..
I was in my barge, mineing away, and i see this low"ish" sec flag pop up in my belt. Sure enough he comes steaming towars my can in his beastower cackling in local about how he was gonna rip me off...
But I said nothing, just continued to fill my can. He closed on my starboard side, creeping up, 10km, 9km....till about 5km, when he delcoaks my corpmate, who was sitting there in a mark V, just waiting....she gooses it and is on the can while he bounces off her mk V...Grabs my ore and heads back to our hanger.....
we had a great laugh in local at his expense.... :)

This post just made you look very ignorant. Calling people thick headed is also not nice.

What Ellis didn't mention is that this guy convo'd her to gloat about his thievery before he logged.
A good mocking in a public forum seems to be fair enough, as we can't actually do anything else against these people.

You clearly came across an Amatuer. I'd have had your drones for sure. I scooped 9 harvies a couple of months ago in exactly the same circumstances.
As for renaming cans 'Giant secure container' please do. As someone pointed out, jet cans can be filtered on the scanner so as soon as I warp into a belt and see a 'giant secure' I immediately know that it's a jet can and the owner has something to hide. Cans labelled this way are like a beacon to me, yet all the miners think they have been SO clever.
Oh, and the guy I robbed the other day had his labelled 'Gaint secur contayner'' convoed me and said ''How did you find my can??''
Yeah, sure. it's the thieves who are thick.....

1.0 to 0.8 space, mine into your hold or have a corpmate with an indy.
0.8 to 0.5 As above or use secure cans or a combination of the two.
0.4 and below kill the thief or any combination of the above
What you MEANT to say is that there's nothing you can do about it when you're ignoring all of the above and jet can mining in 1.0 for maximum profit.

Yeah Tenaj, we know. :)
It's that old risk v reward thing innit - mining into jetcans is higher risk and higher reward. Doesn't mean we have to be happy about losing the ore though.
Am I to understand that you do your ore thievery with your main char? If so, I don't have such a problem with that - it's the people hiding behind alts that suck.

That dont work, if your overview is set to show cargo containers and not secure containers, you can put 2 and 2 together and figure it out.

Usually you can't take drones that way as they are still actively yours. But sometimes you can, as its BUGGED! No! A bug??!? Omg didn't know there were bugs!
I've had so many good ore thief stories lately, its just been a gas. In the last two days I've got 18 Giant Secures in .9 space that were not anchored. One person said he was "reporting me" to CCP for taking his secure can that was not achored. hehe Another person in a Raven shot me. Opps. Concord is my friend.
The best one though was a guy in a mining barge attacks me, Concord kills him, I get his ice miners. He comes back in less than 3 minutes in a HAULER, how he made it out of the station alive I'll never know but concord at the ice field kills him, nice cargo expanders, thanks.
Thank you so very much for your donations. Remember, please keep your ore stacked and ready for pick up.
And remember, Ore Thieves OWN YOU. |

I'm possibly being quite stupid here, but if he took 5000m3, he must have been in a hauler? And haulers don't have a drone bay...

Scoop to cargo bay works on disabled drones.
