Hi all,
new pilot here, been making my way around the eve space for the last week or so.
To cut to the chase, I need some help here...There's a rather strange issue I bumped into the other day doing an Exploration tutorial. The following applies on a setup that consists of a MacBookPro (2,2) on 10.7.5. Under these circumstances I cannot reposition the drones in the map using the arrowheads / and or the side planes. This is quite strange since I'm using the same character on an iMac 27'' R4850 and it all works flawlessly, hence I'm concluding from the above that there must be something wrong with either the installation, or the graphics card (this being a lowly R X1600 w/ 256MB RAM).
Now don't get me wrong I know this graphics setup is not supported, but quite honestly I have not been facing any other issues in graphics or gameplay apart from the one described above whatsoever...
I really need your feedback, thanks! |

Further to my previous message I enclose snapshots showcasing the issue below. In the situation where I can't move the probes around the arrowheads never turn blue and consequently it's impossible to pinpoint their new location so as to perform a new analysis..

ANY ideas / help would be hugely appreciated! |

Not to be that "PC reformat your hard drive guy" but have you tried clearing cache files. Most issues I have, can be cleared up by resetting cache. Also if you know where to find your settings file, I suggest make a copy on your desktop. Then resetting it. These two steps usually fix the issues. If it is a new thing I some times go into Time Machine and restore the EVE settings folder back to a time when I "know" Eve was working.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately clearing the cache files yields no results whatsoever in this case. I'll look into the differences in the config file of each installation in a final effort to pick up anything that might be the cause of this...
Really weird bug this one...It's a graphical-GUI one with no apparent sinister lockup or game hang, however there's more to it than meets the eye definitely and surely extends back to game functionality in more depth than one could imagine...
Oh well, i suppose I'm back to beta-testing, thanks for the time you put into composing a reply anyway :) |

So your rig comes equipped with the Radeon HD 2400XT w/ 128MB of VRAM...which indeed makes it fall within the "supported" graphics cards territory, which should in turn imply that someone over @ CCP should really look into this. |

I notice that you operate under OSX 10.5.8...that could indeed be the culprit in your case. Would it be easy for you to upgrade to 10.6 (even more so 10.6.8) and report back? I bet that your issues will be fixed :) Under no circumstances go to 10.7 tho, huge letdown..

At least for Montmazar I can vouch for the OS version being the issue. since it became officially "unsupported" I've been having the same problem, but I also can't anchor structures (uses that same arrow looking ui as the probes) or interact with my PI structures (you might want to test that yourself)
aaaaaaand unfortunately since that version of OSX ain't supported, you might be forced to give apple the $30 or whatever it is to upgrade |
