Hey,
I am interested in building a POS in highsec.. From what i understand i need to have 5+ standing with the empire where i'm building it?
The goal of the POS would be for T2/T1 research and maybe moon mining if both can be done on the same small POS
Trying to figure out what would be the costs of building the POS (small one), which modules to put in it and then how much it would cost to maintain it each month
Any info/advice would be appreciated |

You cannot do moon mining above 0.3 (or perhaps above 0.4 these days), i.e. not in highsec anyways. A small POS in highsec is only really usefull for blueprint research and copying. EVEHQ was always my preferred tool to estimate costs. FIRE FRIENDSHIP TORPEDOES ! Louis's epic skill guide v1.1 |

If you want to setup POS at 0.5, you need 5 standing if at 0.6, you need 6 standing, and so on |

Are there any corps that offer POS building services? |

1. NO moon mining in highsec.
2. What can be on a pos depends on which race tower. Also depends on what you want the pos to do. Plenty of calculators on the internet.
3. Costs: aproxx 500mil for large, 250mil for med, 125mil for small a month.
4. There are no corps offering pos build options cause a POS is corp property so if you leave the corp keeps the POS. You can however gain your own standings or hire someone to join your corp to get the standings (both require a week before corp to faction standings to take in effect). Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, poke it with your gun and then shoot it. How does hiring someone to gain standings work? Isn't the empire standing an average of all the members in the corp? |

Yes.
So:
You make an alt who can hold CEO. As it has no standing (no standing isnt 0.0 standing) he doesnt count for avg. faction standings. You let the guy with high enough standings in the corp and drop yourself from corp, after a week his standings are the corp standings as the avg of 1 person is the exact same as his standings. Your alt drops the tower and anchors it. The guy can now leave andnyour main can join again as you only need the standings when you anchor the tower.
Out of own exp this works great (though cause it was my rl friemd mine was for free). Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. You can also buy a corp with the required standings, usual cost is somewhere around the 150-200 million mark, if you go down this route you have 7 days to put up a POS before the standings change. I would say start research/invention toon that will newer run a mission and there fore has no standings. Then buy a corp with needed standings. -> none in corp has standings so it newer changes from what you bought it for...
Now to get your feet wet and see if this research/invention stuff is really for you, put up small tower. Use caldari one since it has most CPU available. Put up two advanced labs ( has faster copying lines then mobile lab). and one mobile lab. This gives you ability to do me/pe research as needed, faster copying lines (0.65 time modifier) and plenty of invention lines to burn throw..
Make sure your pos is in system you can get cheap corporate office, keep original bpo-¦s in that office. In case you get wardecked and loose that pos (Small one is easty to take down before war goes live anyways).
Now train this primary research character to do what you need it to do up to thoe Tech 2 inventions yor planning on doing...
Then start second alt with no standings and train him to ability to run blueprint copying... Join the same corp...
Now if you realise you love this invention stuff and make nice money for it, second step would be yet another research character and upgrade to mebium tower with more advanced labs for faster copying...
Advantages doing this way is, small tower eats throw about 100 mil worth of fuel in a month, if you cant make profit even to pay for fuel after all this, its time to figure out what your doing wrong. Small tower is also cheaper and easy to takedown if wardeck hits... Labs has goor resale value if you deside its no go career choise for you...
Also since all research/science characters are those that has no standings, corporate standings newer change and you can keep playing your main as you like... Run missions, **** of people, etc... and it dosent effects your research corp since your main is not in it. [Insert something funny or smart here] |

I'd be careful going down this route without more experience.
Market pvp is actually one of the hardest aspects of the game for a new player, because understanding the ebb and flow of revenue in EVE requires an understand of EVE.
The initial investment to making a hi sec pos and actually make money is far more than a new player with one char can attain.
Find an indy/trading corp if you insist going down this path, but take your time and learn how EVE works, then you can return and be an investor yourself. |

^^ All things considered the poster above is right, market PvP is possibly the most brutal in game, billions can get wiped out in seconds and it won't involve gunfire. He's probably very familiar with POS's because IIRC No Holes Barred is a Wormhole alliance and to them a POS is both home & a lifeline. Im not bashing your POS aspiration but the questions your asking leads me to believe your not ready to own a POS because it is quite expensive so if you plan on paying for plex for your operation then yeah...but really research and copying, invention and reverse engineering, mining op in system without stations, maybe building (but this is better done at a station) keep in mind if some jerking off fool decides he wants your moon or just feels like griefy time you may have to pack up your POS and then you can't put it back up without standings of your own, but a POS is quite expensive even a small POS cost about 3.5 mil a day to run, kapeesh. |

Thanks for the input everyone
Costs aren't really the issue.. can make 50mil a day from doing lvl4 missions i just don't have a clue how to operate a POS and never used one before.
Anyways Jonah i'll contact you in game once we decide to go ahead with it if that's alright with you (will need to hire your services) |
