Just incase anyone using NTL in the uk didnt know, NTL broadband has upgraded their speed. They havent advertised the fact to their customers as far as im aware, I didnt get a email or anything about it, I found out from another forum. I think you can reboot your modem to get the changes or just visit this Link
The speeds are now: 300k > 1mb 750k > 2mb 1.5mb > 3mb
Enjoy

this is also true for Nildram customers.
They are upgrading automatically to a 2mbps at between now and June, but you can upgrade earlier. Dunno about all the details and stuff but i upgraded early from my 1mbps service to 2mbps and they havent charged me anything.
details here : http://www.nildram.net/

The annoying thing with Nildram though is that they're introducing a 50GB per month cap. They are halfing the price that I currently pay them for 2Mbps but the cap may force me to change ISP :( _________________

the only real reason i stay with AOL is the fact that they have no download cap... i can download as much as i want...
...which is nice.

Don't NTL have a cap as well? I migrated from Internet Central to Zen not long ago, getting there 2048/256 service. Would kill for a better upload, but they throw in an Email account, 1GB web space (no php/sql/cgi, max 50 mb files), and I managed to coax a goodly number of static IPs out of em too, for less than IC and most other providers charge. Though their support is only open during office hours, it is amazing to speak to someone who knows their DHCP from there elbow. BT moved most of their staff over to India now, I know cos I used to work for em.
Apparently Bulldog are offering 4096/400 for ú35 a month but only to central londoners :( I'm in the suburbs which is a crying shame. Wonder if SDSL will ever become cheap and plentiful.

then again, we have fiberobptics in many cities that offer 2mb up and 5 mb down at 39 bucks a month... from verizon. Not to mention each braodband, and there are 1000s of companies, are available to choose from. Not to sound conceded... but france has nothing on US in terms of conectivity and entertainment just not food and work policy. -----

I think Japan and Korea take the prize for some of the fastest broadband:
Linky
Heres a snippet:
"The result is that Japan now offers download speeds of 26,000 kilobits per second, compared to 50 kilobits per second over a standard dial-up modem."
Oh, just got my 2mb upgrade through ntl - very nice at 240k/sec download.
As for caps, as far as i know the cap system will be put in place later in the year. I think it will be 30gig a month which puts it in front of BT's 15gig a month limit.

Apparently there is a cap of around 3GB on the 1mb connection (the upgrade from 300K). Now, I'm not sure what the exact impact of such a change would be, but the ntl website estimates this as equivalent to 0.5hours online gaming per WEEK.
Personally, being an eve addict, that's quite unacceptable (as I told them on the phone) to me. So I'm sticking with slower speeds and no limit.

i have the ntl 300k connection atm, but want to upgrade to the 1mb connection. Does that mean that i have to have a download limit, or is it possible to pay for a no capped version???
3gb cap means less than 4 minutes of eve per day __________________________________________________
