So, I am stuck in a bit of a quandry over Assault Frigates. I have been flying the Vengeance and Ishkur with some success in various PVP 1v1 and 2v1 fights. However, my success is marginal (mostly due to an unfamiliarity with these ships), so I thought I would ask a few questions about these two ships.
I have 2 Vengenace fits that I typically fly, both single repper fits one buffer one fully active. Stats are;
Buffer fit
12,192 EHP, 115 sustained DPS reps per sec, resistances of 72/76/81/90 and I do 139 dps - all figures are w/o overheat
Active fit
9.384 EHP, 144 sustained DPS reps per sec, resistances of 79/73/84/91, 139 dps - all figures are w/o overheat
The Ishkur fit;
7660 EHP, 50/61 sustained DPS reps per sec, resistances are 57/72/86/55, 226 DPS - all figures are w/o overheat This is will null, with CNAM i get 261 DPS and this ship is quite a bit faster at 937 m/s over the 844 of the Vengeance
While the Vengeance's numbers look better the times I have fought the Ishkur (and I am coming up against qutie a few AF's) typically does better than my Vengeance.
It actually seems to rep damage even with the lower numbers better than the Veng, although that could just be me not doing something right.
I like to focus on a ship till I get it down, and have spend far more time in the Vengeance (with marginal results). I am considerign a wholesale swap to the Ishkur due to its versatility - but wanted to get suggestions on the two.
Both are pretty standard PVP fits using Nos AB/Web/Scram with tank &/or DPS mods in the lows.
Input would be greatly appreciated. |

Part of it may be that the Ishkur's drones give it much better damage projection beyond gun range - and its higher speed means it can get better transversal to slip damage from hostile guns. |

That is true, but would not work against the Veng's rocket based system. Yes, the Ishkur does more damage to be sure, but when comparing the two (as those are the fights I have struggled with the most - and lost typically to Ishkurs when I am in my Veng).
As such the Veng is not fast enough to keep out of an Ishkur's guns range, so I must rely upon a superior tank. Where with the Ishkur (outside of fighting a Veng) I can sig/speed tank to an extent.
If I decided to drop rails on the Ishkur I could also deal with the occasional kiter more effectively it would seem. |

Pardon my noobness but how is it possible to get a 2000hp ship to 12000hp? Are skills and gear that effective? And if yes thats a very tough frigate! |

You are looking at raw hit points (HP) and he is talking about effective hit points (EHP). Basically, resists divide the damage you take. Consider: 2000 raw HP / (1-.1666) = ~12000.

All depends on what you are fighting, range, type of damage , are you being neuted, webbed,scrammed etc. The veng can be tanked with high resists even though you don't have the HP.

I've tried every non-minmatar AF and have found the Ishkur to be my favorite. Good DPS, good sig tank, and the drones give a great reach where guns and rockets fail...especially with a link aug. |
