I can log into the game but as soon as I get to the charecter screen it does the usual "Getting Charecters" load bar. It goes about 1/5 of the way and then just stops. Occasionally it drops out and gives me the connection lost window saying that the connection to the server has been closed. Yesterday when I purchased this game for $45 it worked fine but today im having issues. I don't understand how one day it can work and the next day not. |

I have that exact same problem. List your specs. Here's what I'm running...:
p4 2.8ghz abit ic7 (flashed w/ latest bios - 1.5) radeon 9700 aiw (catalyst 3.5 drivers) sb audigy sound card (just updated the drivers) westell dsl modem (ethernet connection - NOT USB) western digital 100gb hdd 1024mb corsair twinx ddr windows xp sp 1
Whenever I log to the character screen it locks up. Graphics stop moving in the background. Only one of my profiles loads before this happens. The music continues and I can still move the cursor with my mouse, but cannot interact with anything on the screen anymore. ESC doesn't work and neither does Ctrl-Alt-Del, so I have to reboot when this happens.
I experienced all this originally on the 1077 patch. I was hoping the problem would be fixed by this patch, but, alas, it made no difference.
If this problem has been solved, and I've just missed the word, please, someone, enlighten me.

Oh, and add this to those specs:
500w psu
I was thinking...
Could this be a memory stick timing issue? Could this be solved by upping the voltage to the cpu? I don't know what to try anymore.

I've been having this problem for more than a week now. In other words, I haven't been able to play the game for more than a week.
I've given a bug report on it and asked for help in the support section giving a Directx Report and bug log from the game. The reply I've received is 'We're stumped'.
Everyone with this problem needs to do the same thing. Please make sure you write down EVERYTHING you know about your computer. Otherwise, you risk spending a week in correspondence with the devs just getting your computer specs right. They WILL ask for log files and directX status.

I don't understand this problem. Friday I bought the game, installed it and started playing....no problem right? Well, later that night I decided to play again. I go to log in and I get this problem where it doesn't load my charecters. All of this happens without anything changing on my side. As in patch, reinstalling, rebooting...nothing. Everything remainded the same. So I don't understand how the error can be on my side. One of the devs mentioned something about my charecter being corrupt. I have a feeling that this is what it is. I don't know if they have our chars backed up so they can replace the corrupt copy. I would imagine for you higher level people who have been playing longer, I hope this would be the case. For me its just a simple go thru the tutorial and get my whopping 25k back if they delete my char. I hope they get this fixed, I enjoyed playing this game but if it is going to be persitently bugged like this I may have to resort to finding something else to do with my free time :( |

I hope it's not a corrupt character file. If it is, I can accept that as long as it doesn't happen again. My character was low lvl anyway. I just want to get back into the game. I hope CCP is on top of this problem. Can anyone else confirm that this is the problem?
If so, how would I have the character profile deleted? I only have 3-5 seconds on the character screen before my system locks.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've fixed this problem temporarily. There have been other posts stating that the Radeon Catalyst 3.0 drivers worked for this problem.
For the longest time, I held out on reverting to these older drivers. Finally, last night I checked them out. They work. There are no more character screen locks and I played for about 3 hrs last night without a crash.
I hope this bit of info helps out others out there who are experiencing this difficulty. I hope CCP understands that Radeon card users would like to be able to load the latest drivers and use them successfully in the game.
I've been on these forums alot, lately, ranting and raving. I won't be as much, but I'm still going to check the new drivers with each new patch.
CCP - Using cat 3.0 drivers on radeon 9700 != FIX

Sigh, unfortunatly im not using that video card so installing those drivers will possibly end up making things worse for me. Im using the Geforce 4 mx 440. All my drivers are up to date and I have the latest directx drivers installed. Sigh, its been 4 days and no gameplay, and with little to no advance on whats causing my problem. :(

Hang in there, Zeepher.
Yes, I'm sure it's a bad idea to use the Catalyst drivers for any other card. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear to everyone else. There are alot of users out there with the Radeon 9700+ cards out there that were having this problem.
On the other hand, maybe you can step back through some older GeForce drivers to see if they work.
Apparently, (though I haven't tested them all) the last 3 versions of Catalyst drivers for the Radeon (currently 3.5) don't mesh as well with EVE as the 3.0 drivers do. Maybe you can find the same work-around. Good luck.

I have the same problem. First time was a few days ago, but I solved it by reinstalling game and patches a few times. It worked but now I got the problem again! I use Radeon M7 but I don't think that the drivers has anything to do with it. If anyone knows what to do please let me know.
