It's common sence that anything as big as cruiser was little to none manuverability, but that doesn't happen to frigates tech I, II or interceptors.
My idea is simple, though hard to implement (coding and changing EVE).
I don't like to make comparions with other games outhere but this is an idea for the Devs to think about to implement in 2 or 3 years.
Once you go onboard a frigate or ship in the same category you would be presented with a new UI. Capable of beeing piloted in "X-Wing VS Tie Fighter" genera.
More than making circles orbiting a BS you would take full control on manuverability using a Pad or Joystick.
I don't know what you guys think, but it was like having 2 games in 1. When you are bored just change from one style to another by simply changing ship classes.

TBH, if I wanted to fly from a*****pit, I'd have bought a game where you can fly ships from the*****it.
It's difficult to see how turning Eve into a glorified flight sim would fit in with either the background or the skills system.

Why impossible? We already have the Star Wars expansion with 'twitch' (ie. direct control) based space flight (which works rather well to my surprise - although I don't play SWG anymore). Also I read that Vendetta Online is 'twitch' based.
I think such an addition would be great, but I don't see it happening.

Would be great, but sadly i dont think its feasable currently unless ccp make the game broadband only and beef the server. ---

I also think you should be able to play a FPS inside stations and control tanks on the surface of a planet and have factories and stuff that churn out GI's and patrol dogs and like BIG NUKES that can kill the whole enemy base and a new material called Tiberium and like these big space shark things which you can only beat by using "The bane sword of infinite Justice" that you get from defeating the evil dragonprince inside one of the stations.
I also want to play asteroids in the belt while mining.
Oh and while we are at it, can playing eve also earn you ú10000 an hour in real life? kthx.

I doubt SWG has fights the size of eve fleet battles
Though one day being able to get out of your ship would be funky ---------------------------

Yah even if its not walking around stations or ships.
I'd like to see maybe casino ships or something... station module probably. Would be like a minigame. See your player sitting at a table with the other avatars in 3d playing cards or dice or something.
Betting on those caldari robots fights? From the character creation we know eve can definatly support rendering in that kind of detail.

Eve was never designed to be a flick and shoot game. You need to use a lot more stratgy and its more of a focus on group tactics then the individual. I don't think they would ever change that. Honestly thats prolly a good thing if they did implment something like that I'd imagine the game might be flooded with CS Kiddies and the maturity of the whole game would go down the whole. Flicking game like that usually invite younger kids to play because the its not as "Boring" .

If they are serious about having the planet flying thing in kali something like thgis might be nessasary. If there will be fighting in the skys of the planets it might become hard to keep from crashing into the ground or mountains with the point and click control scheme.
They could run the planet nodes on a completly different server or something and restrict it to frigate classes entering atmosheres. Thus having the more bandwidth intense part of the game seperated and optional.
I really dont mind this it would mean i have to keep one less type of game loaded on my hard drive as i could get my stick time in with eve ______________

Off target a bit limits on planetary combat
Drones, frigates , shuttles and cruisers - battleships and above would be restricted to upper atmosphere conditions
This might not happen for a few years yet - next step is to inlcude planetary orbit stations acting as cargo drop off points for ground based markets
