Whenever CCP catches a bot in 0.0 doing its business;
1) The system sov bill goes up 100% for the next 3 months. 2) All other systems by same alliance get 20% increased sov bills for the next 3 months.
And if there's several bots catched under either category... the bill starts to go even more. (Like *bill* x 1.2 x 1.2 etc...)
--> Creates incentive to alliances to keep their ranks/systems clear of bots. --> Creates incentive for the 'hostile' alliance to bust the bots and thus have influence on its enemy's economic status. |

Yeah, because 100% increase is a lot, they're definitely gonna stop botting now.
Make it so that if a bot is found in their space, CEO of owner gets permabanned. See? There we go. |

If you can't protect your space from even bots, of all things, you don't deserve space. |

That would be win as, then u would have suppressed the issue in certain area - at least partially. There's no any 1 trick to catch em all anyways.

Nope its not alone, but specially the 20% for each system for bigger botting entities starts to actually hit on their wallets pretty soon, the numbers are ofc possible to change.

This very much. Maybe another good aspect would be killing the 'idle empires' thus improve the 'smallholding' - but this isn't without problems ofc. |

so what is this .. an indulgince? Why legitimize breaking the EULA by making people pay for doing it?

Of course the botter is banned as always... these are just consequences to the entity that hosts the bot. And tbh, I can't see CCP banning 3000 accounts from alliance because 1 of them was botting. |

So, collective punishment? This will suck if say a rough member is secretly botting for a small or otherwise legitimate corporation/alliance. One person will cause God to rain down mayhem on an entire city.
Hmmm... reminds me of a famous book. |

Why not make it so people have to be at their keyboards when mining . Get a captcha system put in place that pops up randomly using any form of mining equipment . If its not filled out the player , their corp and the alliance get taxed each time it re appears and is not filled out .This would also notify CCP that something is up and can then investigate that player as a suspected bot .
Player gets into their mining ship and gets to a belt . A random amount of time later a captch appears . It does not get filled in - no Tax this time .
10 mins later it appears again . This is die ti it not been filed in previously Not filled in = no tax player could be AFK
5 mins later it appears again . Same reason as last time . Filled in no action taken . captcha appears a random amount of time later . Not filled in = 500 mill to alliance - 250 mill to corporation = 150 mill to player using the bot . CCP devs are notified and an automatic log is started ,
Next unfilled captcha adds 20% to the last total . This also raises the priority of the devs to check this character out . 500 mil +20% = 600 mil 250 mil +20% = 300 mil 150 mil +20% = 180 mil
Each subsequent captcha miss adds 20% to the previous total every 5 mins until the player is fills the captcha , This has the potential to cost billions for even a single bot .
This added to your idea could potentially see the collapse of corps and alliances who are now thriving because of people using those exploits and not reporting them . |

It does not take 15 mins to boil never mind taking 15 mins to turn it on . Anyone who leaves their kb for more than 15 mins while mining is is more than likely having their dinner . They wont wait 15 in 0.0 space undocked and afk |

Alright then, so more like
Turn on mining laser.
go eat dinner.
come back to a billion isk bil for no reason.
How exactly is that any better? Bots would crack the captcha in a week tops, like they always do, so you'd only be punishing actual players anyway.

I don't think captchas are really a good solution as they make legit play also super annoying and isk penalty like that would be too harsh, I mean cmon... ppl forget themselves around when mining and might not be filling captchas all the damn time. In regards of mining in general, I think whole system should be revamped to involve more inuative decisions and less just watching mining lasers cycling. This is bit out of range of this topic, so please don't get it sidetracked too much guys. |

Ya maybe i did get carried away with the whole isk cost thing scenario . The ything is i had dealt with about 6 bots that day and wanted to vent my frustration . Still i do see captchas as a way of making it harder to use bots . I know it wont get rid of the bots but it will deter a lot of people from using them . Maybe ccp Could implement a a log client side that automatically sends out to them if the captcha is not filled out .
Start mining a random time later the captcha appears . Not filled in reappears 5mins later and again 5 mins later if not filled in . the third time it appears if its not filled in CCP get a log of the processes used while eve is in action . Then a dev can determine if the player is using a bot and subsequently ban him . I am aware that this may generate some false positives from people who are genuinely AFK . That said something needs to be implemented to deal with them

Anyone who thinks a captcha will be able to stop even the most trivial bots probably still lives in 2003. A bot will be able to complete the captcha most likely even faster than you sitting at your keyboard. |

Process lists are stupidly useless, just rename the bot exe as svchost.exe and BAM, you are all set as a windows machine can have from 2 to 20 and more of svchost processes depending on what is installed. |
