Hello, I finished all my initial tutorial missions. I was surprised to see I wasn't told to go some where else. Currently I am doing level 1 missions. Just getting loyalty points. Wanting to do story missions & to get a career agent but nothing comes up in the agent finder. Help? |

Storylines come after 15 missions, so every 16th is a storyline.
Career agents show up in agent finder just like any other agent. You sure you filtered correctly? |

Firstly:
Bam Oumis wrote:I was surprised to see I wasn't told to go some where else. Welcome to EVE Online. This is a sandbox game where your gaming experience depends entirely on you. Noone will tell you what to do unless you choose to join a corp or alliance where someone, well, tells you what to do. You carve your own path in this game.
Secondly:
What do?
Here are some suggestions; the list is by no means exhaustive:
- Judging by the tone of your post you sound like, and don't take this personally, a complete noob to EVE. In this case I suggest you join EVE University. There you will learn at least the basics of how this game is played and about the different corners this sandbox has to play in. Many former Unistas go on to join well-established corps in all areas of space including null-sec. I would suggest this to my bro, were he to sign up.
- You can run more missions to make money to buy bigger and better ships to run more difficult missions with.
- You can mine minerals to either sell or make stuff from, which you can then sell.
- You can do exploration, searching for sites hidden in space which can be very lucrative. Random Number Generator is a b*tch though plus in some areas it's very competitive.
- You can try your hand in pvp combat. "Being new" and "not having skillpoints" are not valid excuses to not try pvp. If you want to go that route I suggest joining Red vs Blue which is full of newbies duking it out mainly amongst each other. There you will learn at least the basics of pvp, get to feel the exhilaration of winning against a human opponent and to fill a bucket of tears after getting your cruiser killed by some dude in a cheap-ass frigate who no doubt is a fat, no-life redneck living in his momma's basement.
I imagine both EVE Uni and RvB have recruitment threads in the recruitment forum.
If you really are completely new to EVE here's some random points which I hope might save you some frustration down the line:
Most importantly, this is essentially a pvp game. There are no instances here. People can warp into your missions and steal your stuff; they can warp into your belt and start mining your ore, and by "mining your ore" I mean they will target the very asteroid you're shooting right now rather than any of the other fifty roids in the belt; they can suicide gank you for no other reason than they think it's worth their time or even simply because their momma told them that, you know, 39 is a good age to move out of the basement and into their own place.
The running gag here is "Once you click the Undock button you agree to non-consensual pvp," but in reality you don't even have to undock to pvp. The market can be ruthless and contract scammers will try to skin you for everything you've got.
I hope this is helpful to youl. Because I'm feeling generous today I'm gonna send you some starting ISK as well. Just send me any amount and I will send you double back. So, if you send me 1 mill I will send 2 mill back; 2 mill -> 4 mill; and so on. Basically, just send me everything you have and you'll get double back.
Welcome to EVE Online. Enjoy your time here. |

You got the Epic arc invite?
You should have that, look in your people and places tab, there should be an invite from a sisters of Eve Agent.
Ater that you're on your own and you've only scratched the surface of your oppertunities, Eve University is a good place to find out what you like and how to adchieve it.

I understand your dilemma. Not knowing what all is possible in EVE is one of the first of many challenges you will face. Even I, a player of nearing 3 years, can happily admit there are areas in EVE that I have yet to discover.
My suggestion...undock and set destination to a far corner of the universe and see what you find ;) i make videos about internet spaceships click to watch: http://www.youtube.com/JonnyPew

I don't think I have the epic arch invite. If I do not sure where to find it. Nor do I know how to find sisters of eve or eve university.
I finished the training missions on Deepari. Military, advanced Military, Industry, mining & exploration training missions. When I go to agent finder & filter career agents nothing comes up. When I filter "any" on all filter settings I get only a few level 1 agents. Right now I am about 10 jumps away from Deepari. I am doing level 1 security missions for imperial navy loyalty points @ the moment. I did get one story mission after numerous level 1 missions. Kinda boring.
Surely there are other Career agents? Yes I am a noob. No offense taken. I understand this is a sand box game but right now I am lost. Thank you for all the reply's.

I played EVE on and off for my first 4 months or so. I just couildn't get a flow going. It wasn't until someone helped me, that I finally found a direction. (it was missions then)
I suggest you find another player, or corp, that will help you for awhile. Eve is full of asshats, but it is also full of helpful players. If you don't like the first people, move on. |

The fastest way to learn and grow is to join a corp, challenge will be finding a good one. Maybe post in the recruitment thread on what you think you want to do and play times. I know Ammzi's corp\alliance used to be very noob friendly and very diverse. So maybe look for him and check his corp's recruitment thread. I am sure there are others, but that's the only lot I have dealt with in my short eve time :) If you have any questions you welcome to contact me.

1. Head to Arnon and talk to Sister Alitura of the Sisters of Eve to start the "Blood Stained Stars" epic arc. (Though I'd skill up a bit before you try it, myself -- the later missions in that chain can be tough if your skills are low.)
2. Apply to EVE University. Their whole purpose in life is to train up noobs and get them ready for the sandbox (though they do have trouble in allowing fledglings to leave the nest).
3. Start exploring. Hit your ship's system scanner and see what anomalies pop up. In 1.0 and .9 systems, you'll find hidden sites full of pirates to shoot at that won't be too hard for you to take on.
4. Experiment with contracts and buy/sell orders on the markets. Even if you're a pure PVP shoot-to-thrill player, you have to sell stuff and buy stuff from the markets. Understanding how the markets work is vital.
5. Find some good friends (or new acquaintances) and form a fleet, and go look for trouble somewhere. Head down to lowsec -- I guarantee you that a fight will be on your place within an hour. You'll get blown up with extreme prejudice, but don't take it personally: it's a great way to learn about PVP mechanics. You're going to lose ships during your stay in New Eden - best to get used to it now. The only ironclad rule is, "Don't fly what you can't afford to lose."
6. Decide what you want to do (be a miner, an industrialist, or combat pilot) and join a corp specializing in that aspect of the game. Or start your own corp -- all it takes is about ten minutes of training and a few thousand ISK.
7. Run missions. You're going to be doing this a lot to make ISK early on, so be smart about it. Start with Level 1 missions, and run them for the same corp so you can build standings faster. As your standings increase, you can move on to L2, L3, and L4 missions. As the levels go up, so do the payouts.
8. If your scanning skills are up to snuff, find a wormhole and go spelunking. Again, you'll probably get blown up with extreme prejudice, either by angry Sleepers or irate WH denizens, but that's all part of living in New Eden.
EDIT: If you're not sure where to go or what to look for, hit the DOTLAN maps page. It's the Rand-McNally of New Eden!

I know the feeling. I was the same when I started. The sand box style of EVE makes it very easy to feel lost until you learn the ropes and start setting goals for yourself.
You are right level 1 missions are very boring, but you need isk to progress in the game. If you train up some social skills it will help with missions. They give you a boost to your effective standings, and to the amount of standings and loyalty points you get when completing a mission. you can be into level 2 and even level 3 mission quickly with the social skills trained.
You ran all the tutorials, which one did you like the most? When finishing the combat tutorial you should have been told to go see sister Altura. She is the agent that starts the sisters of EVE epic arc. Basically an epic mission arc for new players. It should be in your journal (one of the tabs on the left side of the screen.) The tutorial missions have recently been redone, I have not run through the new tutorial so not sure exactly where it lead you. The sisters of EVE epic arc with take you up to a week to complete. When you are done you will know a lot more about the game. Have a few new ships, and over 1 million isk in you wallet.
EVE university is a player run corporation that teaches new players the ropes. they are very large and do almost everything that can be done in EVE. you can search for them under people and places. Not sure what their public chat channel is but they should have someone in the rookie chat to answer questions. If all else fails Google it, they have a web page.
EVE being a sandbox there is no liner progression. There is no max level as in other MMO's. You need to set goals for yourself and work toward them, gaining skills and knowledge along the way. For starters you can work toward level 2 missions, or work toward getting into a certain ship you like to look of. The point is start out small. As you achieve smaller goals and learn how EVE works your goals will get more focused and complex. personally I started out mining and still do a lot of it several years later. Some players prefer running missions as it has a similar feel to running quests in other MMO's. Still others dive right into PVP, What you do is entirely up to you. Don't do something just because someone told you it is the easiest way to start out. You got a taste of what EVE has to offer running the tutorials, If you are still unsure what you like, run the SOE arc as it gives you skills and knowledge you will need no matter what career you choose.
If you plan on spending a lot of time playing EVE the best move you can make as a new lost player is join EVE university. What ever you are interested in they will help you get the skills and knowledge you need to achieve your goals. Also players who have been taught by EVE UNI have a much easier time getting into good player corps and alliances. They will teach you how to run missions effectively, how to run mining ops, how to PVP, how to explore, and how to participate in gangs, roams, and larger fleet ops. Anything you are interested in EVE university can help you get there.

The career agents are under the help section. Help -> career advancement. Though you may have done them already and be referring to them as tutorial missions idk. If you have done those you can do whatever you want. If you really want to stay with missions you should have a load of isk and a destroyer from the career missions meaning you can get into level 2s pretty quick.

No thats all the career agents. They are only there to help you decide what you want to do in eve, i assume you have chosen mission running. Grinding missions is boring but then its only a relatively minor part of the game. Still with tutorial missions done you should have the standing to do level 2 missions plus the destroyer to run them. The epic arc is also boring but it least it has a story and again the standing and the isk are good for a new player Generally speaking if a new player does the career agents and the epic arc they should have enough isk/skills/ships/standing to set off on whatever course they want in eve plus an understanding of the basic mechanics. After that the game is what you make of it..

Welcome to Eve, and let me say, congratulations on completing all the Tutorial missions, a lot of people don't bother, get frustrated and then quit. Like someone already said, Eve University is a great starting place.
I see you're in Amarr Space, there is a Sarum Family level 1 Agent in Sharhelund. Try to find that system by using people and places. Sarum Family will grant Loyalty Points you can use for Amarr Navy stuff, they have a pretty good LP (Loyalty Point) shop. As well, only 2 jumps away is Nakri with more Sarum Family Agents. Once you're ready to do level 4's then you have 2 options available in both those systems, in case there is a mission you want to decline and it's before the grace period.
I mission out of there a lot as does a lot of the corporation I'm in and I see a lot of other Corps doing the same, as well as mining, so might be a nice area for you to begin your career. Also, the main Amarr hub (aptly named Amarr) is only 5 jumps away...
Good luck bud! |

Download EVEMon and plan your Core skills to at least Standard at first (look for certificates for Core Competency). This will help you in every ship you fly regardless of purpose (PvP, PvE, Mining, Exploration etc).
You'll need to upload your API key, it's a key that lets the program download an .XML file of your characters data so you can track it outside of Eve. It's a great tool and helps you to focus. Since you've done all the tutorials, try to decide on a career path and focus. If you like Pew Pew then get your combat up, it's a nice starting point since it feeds the PvE and PvP side of the game. |
