Hello all, I was doing solo pvp for some time in smaller cheap chips. I have decided to move to next level and got me loki with some nice fit. Before I had no problem to go low/null sec without scout as it was easy to replace and I don't have second char I can use to scout for my combat pilot. But now with loki and quite expensive fit I had to be more carefull. I was thinking of cloaky fit, but DPS drops down too much.
My fit looks somehow related to this: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/47937-Loki-Solo-and-Small-gang-Dual-Web-Armor.html
I can control one on one situations pretty well with 2 webs. Any hints or tips how to avoid one on many situations without scouting?
Thanks, Starsky |

If you cannot afford to lose it, dont use it. If you dont -want- to lose, but can afford it, dont do PvP in it.
Really its that simple. Why jumping from "expandable" to "f****ing expensive? Try a HAC. Its rather cheap, fast enough to evade smaller Camps and still tanky enough in many cases. |

I recommend something like a Cynabal, or Vagabond, rather then a Loki.

We don't understand each other. I can afford it and I am not afraid of loosing it. I was flying cheaper ships and by cheaper I mean HACs, cruisers, battlecruisers, bombers etc. What I am asking for is how can I be more effective and not using scouts on every corner. |

Take a look at the video "brawl it" from Prozacxx. He flies with a similar loki without booster/scout. http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1454211
Maybe switching one web for a cap injector would be a good idea. |

Vaga might not be a bad idea. I park my loki for a while and try it. |

I would have to second a vaga. It has the agility (and speed if tackled) to escape gatecamps, the ability to kill a wide selection of larger targets and murder any smaller targets.
Stabber fleet issue is also worth a look, it's bloody awesome imho. It has crazy agility, insane tracking, good dps and the sig radius of a destroyer. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. |

Yeah, the armour Loki is a little too slow for the work you are trying to make it do, it will just get horribly blobbed, I would say the Cyna or Vaga are a better choice. |

Might be a stupid question but why is armor loki bad? Yes, it is considerably slower than vaga, but I have 2 webs to control the fight. With loki bonuses to webs range, I can play vaga style and keep myself far enough not to be scrambled so in case of trouble, I just turn on my mwd and run away. |

If you are worried about being catched by large fleet at a gate camp webs don't help you. In low sec agility is the way to go to avoid such situations. Armor setups tend to be not very agile. With regards to agility Shield Cynabal and Stabber Fleet Issue are king. Then comes Vagabond and then a Shield Loki with agility component. |

Agreed that solo cloaky Loki loses too much DPS for its cost. Consider a Rapier. Similar DPS (counting drones), better web range, much better price-point shopping. |

I tried Vaga yesterday. It was fun at first, but than I got interceptor and few frigs on the gate. I got me out alive but In situations like this I realy miss web. Rapier sounds like a better idea. |

Solo PVP still exists! I used to do it all the time, now it's blob mania. Your best bet is a fast cruiser for sure. Cyn or vaga are good options. Or if u are going cloaky option a rapier but then your targets are limited. I personally prefer the cyn with 425 AC's and neut |

I haven't played in a while, but moving out of frigs into something else while soloing "soutless" gets pretty expensive. I'd suggest not using a Loki as you will just get baited & ganked.
Personally for scout less solo PVP, I preferred the Shield Rupture, Small gun/Armor Vexor & AML Caracal for cruises & Shield / AC Hurricanes and possibly the dual plated/dual rep small gun Myrm for BC's.
The Shield Rupture & Cane were more as fast moving gank ships & the Vexor & Myrm were more for brawlers in low traffic space. Caracal just for anti frig but I'd assume with all the frig buff's lately they are less effective. |

Stabber fleet issue relatively cheap, near vaga performance , should do for some solo work. |

The best advice I can give you is 'Get to know the area your flying in.'
What does 'get to know the area' mean? Flying in a specific set of systems allows you to get a feel for the traffic patterns, the corps/alliances who are flying in that area on a regular basis, when gate camps are likely to occur, who their cloaker alts are, and who the neutrals that are just traveling through are.
All of the above is valuable information. It may be worthwhile to scout out the area in a cheap frig first or something cloaky like a bomber. The bomber is so you can at least rat a bit to pass the time so boredom doesnt set in while learning who you can attack and who to stay away from because they will rofl stomp you.
Good Luck. When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life. |

Soloing without a scout is perfectly fine, as long as you know the area, have an exit strategy, pick and choose your battles, and use all the available intel sources (like the starmap statistics).
I solo almost exclusively... most of the time. But I still hit targets of opportunity, even if it means I'm 'blobbing'. |

You dont have any kills and only a single rifter loss in Rens. Going to be nice and assume this is an alt your posting on and that your not really just full of.... When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life. |

I am trying rifters and jaguars as I am solo beginner and it is a bit difficult to find targets. Most of trafic in my space are small/medium size gangs, interceptors which are almost impossible to catch, faction cruisers who trash my jaguar in no time or pimped t3 cloakies. I will have to try something bigger like Vagabond or Rapier to have a chance.
Rifters and rifter hull ships are great. Very fast and agile. I fit nanofiber to get more agility and I managed to get away from few gate camps unharmed. Lost only 2 so far due to my stupidity when I attacked Thrasher at custom office. Was dead before I get away from his scram. And 2nd when I was in small gang hunting 3 t3 cruisers near WH entrance. Lessons learned.
But you can get some nice kills too if you are patient. Got one noob in t1 industrial fitted with faction shield extenders. My rifter got him in one and half minute and drop was worth over 50 mil.
Overall frigs and AF are perfect if you want to learn more about gate camps, how to avoid being killed and to get to know your enemy (ships, mods, fits etc). Lot of music for very little money. Forget numbers, play with ideas, look for solutions. |

Well, Val'Dore is a new main, but was also inactive for over a year. But even considering that, I don't post kills. I'm philosophically opposed to kill mails. I'd rather people think less of me than start posting them. |

I'd say something like a Rupture would be far better than a jaguar to learn in, it's also cheaper. ----True oldschool solo pvp'er---- My latest vid: Insanity IV |
