As far as anyone is concerned, the other humans back home at Earth are basically aliens. And they would probably kill everyone in New Eden if they found it. |

Cpt Gobla wrote:Bane Necran wrote:Aliens exist in EVE, but just like real life we're primitive and unimportant to them, so they simply avoid us like we do packs of wild dogs. They do? I was under the impression that all known 'life' (including drones) was human in origin. The four empires being human colonies emerging from a dark age long after the collapse of the EVE gate. The Jove being another human colony that went through a shorter and much less severe dark age. Rogue Drones being a failed experiment by the Gallenteans in self-replicating military hardware. Sleepers being the guardians of yet another technologically advanced human colony that seems to have been wiped out for one reason or another. The other references to ancient cultures such as the Talocan also being some of the human groups that travelled through the EVE gate. There are aliens all over New Eden.
Not all the planets were barren, lifeless rocks. There's always been indiginous life in the New Eden galaxy, it just wasn't of the higher intellect variety.
A case could also be made that some of the humans were aliens themselves. Humanity was highly evolved before it entered the EVE gate. Jovians may be human, but they're not really that much like the current residence of New Eden, and they aren't the only group that came to New Eden and aren't really "human" as we're familliar with; nor were they the most powerful.
There's a group of humans responcible for protecting the sleepers, I don't think I would consider them quite as human as us. The sleepers themselves only exist in our reality physically; they actually live in an entirely virtual world that they constructed. I believe the sleepers are only one of the most advanced Human "species" in New Eden.
I can't remember if the sleepers are or are not the arcitects, the guys responcible for first developing and building the gates in New Eden. If I remember correctly the Jove worked for them before the EVE gate collapsed, and at that time weren't even the most advanced group of Humans here. I got the impression that there are other groups that we aren't aware of, but the Jove are. I tihnk that it was the arcitects that first started using genetic manipulation on themselves, and that they passed some of the knowledge on to the Jove, as well as used it on the group that is supposed to protect the sleepers.
Wasn't there some sort of hint that there was some group out there that the Jove themselves were afraid of?
I think it's funny that the OP told someone to think outside the box, while he wants the generic grey men and slobbering sci-fi alien monster. Because that's obviously as outside the box as you can get, and hasn't been done to death already. CCP went outside the box, we are our own aliens through genetic manipulation -which was apparently a rather popular pasttime for several groups prior to the EVE gate collapse-, that resulted in Humans that are more alien to us than they are Human.
We are not the same people that came through the gate. We're far less advanced than some of the groups that were working in New Eden prior to the callapse of the EVE gate, and those guys were already altering themselves through genetic manipulations then, thousands of years ago. We haven't even caught up to where we were when the gate collapsed; I imagine that if humans were able to reach us from the Milky Way, we probably woudln't recognize them as Human. |

Hmmm Aliens would be cool, but we already have some OP.
Jovians, Drones.
And every race is dynamically separate in there racial features. Now I think it would be more interesting to have different playable alien races in eve. OP, people in Eve have a big problem with change, they shoot down an idea people come with. So good luck. I like the idea, but CCP has way to much on their plate at the moment to worry about aliens. It sucks to get old, because I can't remember the name of it... but wasn't there a post with a link in it about a spin off project that a Dev was working on in their own time that dealt with alien life in EVE?
I unfortunately didn't do more than glance at it at the time, intending to come back to it later and then promptly forgot about it. So perhaps my quick assessment is off the mark. I don't even have the bookmark. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

An alien civilization would probably be a bad thing from a setting design standpoint.
EVE = everybody versus everybody.
The four big factions were designed so that each of them have a fundamentally different moral outlook, and that each have reason to distrust (or outright hate) the other factions. This encourages pew pew and drama.
The sudden appearance of a non-human alien civilization would probably bring together many of the human nations, providing a unifying threat that wouldn't be good for the chaotic conflict that is EVE. |

Hi Bezintine Miromme,
Just to give you some information here;
Petitions are used to raise problems or questions with the Games Masters and are are managed by their own special option in game (Press F12) or via the Support option of the EVE Universe drop-down in the top right corner.
However, they're not the people who would deal with this ... post.
EVE has Aliens and Super advanced humans who are to all intents and purposes, Aliens. We just don't have (as far as we know!) intelligent aliens, there are animals like Fedo's and Long-limbs for example.
However, don't dismiss the backstory - it's very relevant to EVE as it explains how mankind came to be in this region of the galaxy in the first place.
Have a look over here. There's a lot of interesting reading, especially if you like to get immersed in the game.
Hope this information helps! ISD Suvetar Captain Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

This is why they need this video to be back when you start EVE for the first time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T84nrp08MWo&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLNS9eelOVbzPJO9gXVvf4aA
Its the old storyline intro, shows what EVE is about.
We are all humans ofc but we are in a different place now because we got closed off from the Milky Way Galaxy. Go to system New Eden to see the Closed WH please.

Exacly correct, I had to learn EVE's history by looking at Chronicles. Since that video was removed I bet most of the new eve players are wondering "Where are the aliens? Why are there only humans here? Where is Earth?"
This reminds me I'm gunna put a request on the F&I section. |

The introduction of an alien race would somehow just not fit into this game. This lack of fictional element is one of the things that makes the game more "real".
With an all-human game, we can operate on related concepts, pretty much "what we do". It's plausible that the human race might be like it is in the game 23000 years from now in the same circumstances.
Bringing in an alien race is going to be 100 percent pure fiction, complete with inventing the race, what they do, etc. It just does not fit.
The point of other humans being split so far off the mainline of development that they seem alien to us is good enough. |
