I been talking to alot of people and they all agreed and as me to write to CCP about being able to paint your ships. So im trying to figer out how to do that so im ask here and hopefuly find more people that agrees with me.
The way it would work to on both sides (The players and CCP) would be to put a Paint your ship option in the AUR store. this will bring more people to be willing to buy PLEX's and it give player what they want. it would be easy to do, to have templets of your faction logo or some stander designs to choose from at first. With witch ever color you would want on it. And if it take off well you can go further as to being able to inport images from outside files.( that meets the size need for the ships)
Well that just what i been thinking of and alot of people agreed. If you agree with me pls reply and let me know. i wanting to see how much support i can get into this. and for any other idle let me know. Thank you for read this. |

I'd rather be able to paint the whole ship rather than just a section behind a partition.
Edit: Wait until the V3ing is done, then we'll see what is possible along this line and what is not. I suspect we'll get faction color schemes, but I doubt completely custom paint jobs is feasible. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Surely in a large fleet engagement with 800 in local such as EVE online is famous for, the server trying to load 800 different unique ship skins on the same grid couldn't cause that much crippling lag?
Could it?

The only way to do a Custom Paint job that I am aware of, is to create multiple skin variations, then allow the players to set the tint on each section of those skins.
So basically it would work something like this:
1. Choose your skin, (in this example: Urban Camouflage)
2. Set Tint 1 Hue and Saturation
3. Set Tint 2 Hue and Saturation
4. Select Corp or Alliance logo branding, (something they've talked about for V3 availability)
5. Complete.
Bing, you're done.
The only issue there, is that the server then has to log that ships unique identifier and display it to all the other players in game. As far as I know, this wouldn't be very difficult, but the implementation across how many millions of ships on the other hand... Maybe not truly practical. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

Thank you for your input. The way i think it would work would be to have a seletion in the setting where you can chose to see other ships custom paint jobs. so if you computer cant handle it, just turn it off. |

I'm bit of a fan of the Armored Core series. I still play For Answer.
The ingame ability to customize the look of your machine is quite nice. I am quite sure that it could be something that they could implament without issue if they really wanted to.

Something similar to this is in the works. That's why ships have been getting re-textured.
No one is quite sure how it will look... what other features it will include.... etc.
Be patient. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |
