My mwd I is supposed to do 500%, its doing 607%, I put on a gistii and its 769% instead of 661%
About 108% more than normal in all cases.. and I don't think its just interceptors.

I bet they put in a stealth nerf that makes the acceleration control skill increase sig radius penalty...

Yes my Zealot has a 750m freaking sig radius when it should have a radius of 625m.
Uh wtf?
Gistii mwd on Malediction with a base 26m sig radius (ceptor 4) should be 171.86.
It's 200m.

I know that the gisti ones always gave more of a sig radius penalty than the tech 1. Same with Cat Cold Gas and Phased Mono, too. Tech 2 and the faction ones didnt, though. But if the problem is even with regular t1 well... great.

I know that.
26 * 6.61 (gisti's 661% bonus) = 171.86
It shows up as 200m

Yep, I just checked with a 1mn MWD tech 1. Giving a 600% sig increase instead off 500%
Too lazy to get my sig changed |

Don't tell siim, or he'll come steal your sig's.
Ok poor joke I know, but its late, I'll have better material after a few hours sleep.

I have also noticed my sig radius being raised even without the MWD being activated on occasion. Activating and deactivating the MWD seems to restore it to normal. But it's a bug that could some day get me killed without the opportunity to even realise this is the cause.

well it seems you math is a bit wrong (or Weirda too tired)...
Simple maths:
let's look at a 100% speed increase: 100m/s + (100m/s * 100%) = 200 m/s
why would sig radius not be the same: 26 sig radius + (500% * 26) = 26+130 = 156 when you look at it backwards (156/26) - it appears to be 600%...
maybe Weirda is crazy... but don't think so...
the % bonuses and penalties generally ADD that amount, not multiply by that amount... otherwise getting 140% from an AB wouldn't be squat...

yes, wierda is right, if it says percent bonus/penalty that value is added/subtracted to a base of 100% (this goes for the speed bonus as well as the sig-radius 'bonus')
if it was a multiplier, then we'd be in different waters...

Yeah its x + (bonus*x) = final result
But sometimes CCP have a percent boost, but in the attributes it lists as multi and says 5x. Needs to be fixed

What - no comments from the 'big three' (Merdius, Digital Communist, Selim)... Guess that the power of Weirda's fragile mind is just too much to bear!
Actually - really waiting for someone to tell Weirda that wrong (would really love to have a lower penalty), lack of sleep and painkillers can do that to you...
The problem would be that for the most part, the way that bonuses are added (mathmatically) are in our favour... unfortunately the penalties are added in the same (larger penalty inducing) way... guess that we can't have it both ways... -- Thread Killer

+500% or 500% increase?
I think that an MWD is supposed to add another 500% onto what you have, which might explain thatyou are getting 100% too much. 32 signature becomes 193 after a standard MWD (x6, not x5). Note how the speed increase is +500% (x6) and not 500% (x5).
Or am I missing a line stating something that'd make my argument completely flawed? --

Well, yes, since the speed is really x+ 500%x rather than just 500%x, it does make sense that the sig radius would be the same.
Then again, frigates and cruisers don't need yet another kick in the groin...

Edited by: Harry Voyager on 23/03/2005 19:10:21 For MWDs the speed bonus is a multiplier. For Afterburners, it is added to 100%, and that sum is used as the multiplier.
I have no clue why they did it that way, either.
I haven't been keeping track of the sig radiuses, so I don't have a detailed knowledge of how they work yet.

All i can say is running around in a cruiser with a 750m signature radius is just plain stupid.
That is like the size of battleship with a battlecruiser taped to the side
It should be calculated like this:
Sig Radius * 500% (or whatever the penalty is)

fit an AB when you dont like the sig radius, after all a mwd isnt supposed to outrun the tracking of any guns, it should give you speed to approach your target Wanna fly with me?

You only just noticed this?
It'a allways been like this, AFAIK. What, you thought you were getting a sig bloom % EQUAL to the speed increase %?
Well, hope you're getting why I HATE the sig bloom now.
