It won't obsolete them. T1's won't have the resists, and will have worse reps, and the sort. Pretty sure you can't fit large/XL reps on the T1 versions, either.
It's just a cheaper, lower entry level version of the T2's. |

yeah, lets complain about ships that havent been buffed yet.
They WILL be buffed because their new specs will be based off of the new t1 specs.
So yeah, ***** more. |

Quote:scythe will rep about 40% better than a Scimitar will, and it will do it at longer range: 92.4 kilometers. With no gang links, a standard Drake receiving three Scimitar large reps can tank 818 DPS. The same Drake receiving two Scythe reps on December 4 will tank 1141.
scythe costs 4mill? something, that is roughly 25-30 scythes for a scimitar. and while they rank worse who cares as they cost less and can warp in at 90k and rep better then a scimitar.
how is that balance CCP? can you clear that up for all that have trained Logi level 5 pls.

I seriously doubt CCP plans to make t1 ships perform better than t2 ships when both are specialized for the same role. |

Secondly, I don't know about the Scythe/Scimitar, but I don't think that Guardians and Basilisks are going anywhere any time soon.
If you have two of them, they can infinitely give each other cap, they can fit Large transfers/remote reps with greater ease, and rep for more (large reps). |

heres the data from the coming expansion with fittings doable with the coming expansion

This cheap ship reps better than basilisk (3 large reps x 75% bonus = 5.25 effective large reps @ 92km range; 2016 shields every 5sec), is cap stable, faster than ab scimi (771m/s), no tank true but has 2 damps against enemy sniper or ecm platform.
note the last part making them quite better.

The Scythe and Osprey look very delicious in EFT, but they won't outperform the shield logistic hulls. However they might be the first choice just because of the pricetag. The Exequror and Augoror are still very nice, but will never reach the performance a Guardian or Exequror can bring.
I think the main use of the Scythe and Osprey are probably bigger engagements and not smallscale. In smallscale you'd probably like to have that (slight) bonus you gain from a Scimitar, whereas in fleetfights the logi-numbers are often relatively low. Here newer players with less skillpoints will be able to bring support ships into battle which perform almost as good and at low cost.
But yeah there are insane possibilities for Ospreys, they can have roughly 30k EHP before bonuses with 33 Sensor strength and have an aligntime of 4.5 seconds. And with a medium cap in out of an osprey, you can run almost every capneedy ship you might ever want to have as support in your fleet. Tripple Neut MWD webbing Ashimmu with Heavy Pulses has +20 cap/s. You can go for 4x Medium Shield Repper and one Large Energy Transfer on your Ospreys, they will be neutimmune. You'd need a ******* Bhaalgorn for each of them to cap them out. |

Comparing the T1 Logis to T2 ones is like comparing a stabber to a Vagabond, really, it's that silly. T2 Logis have insanely small signature radiuses and this is what makes them so damn good. T1 ones are gonna pop like flies from 100km off.
Of course, if you got a station in the same system with about a hundred of them or more they're a threat but in a fight where dying and coming back means other people dying too, it's not a problem. |

all that's going to happen is that in a t1 cruiser or even frig gangs you'll start seeing t1 logi in the mix ;). oh and more brawling small/med gang fleets. heck it's cheap get a fight in. |

The new logi cruisers may have a few gimmicks that they can pull off. Like the damping/repping scythe listed above. However, if you plan to fit a tank to it, or have it stay on the battlefield for more than 30s, then the "special" fits aren't going to be viable. And the scimi has a nice, well entrenched place on the battlefield, because it is better than a tanked scythe/osprey, and it can actually stick around when threatened, unlike the lolfit above.
That being said, it may be worthwhile to switch to scythefleet for POS repping - and anything that makes THAT go faster can only be a plus...

They won't tank for damn and you'll be able to shred an entire fleet of the T1 logi's with any alpha. The T2 Logi will still be the mainstay of the fleet, but this will allow you to boost your numbers slightly by shoving newbies into a semi capable logi, instead of forcing them into a light tackle role which let's face it: Has depreciated a lot in the last several years. |

I would like the point out that the T1 logi ships won't be able to fit large remote repairs unless they are willing to give up the ability to take any significant damage from... well... most anything.
So no... T2 logi can take comfort in knowing that they are not being replaced in any way. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

But the tiercide has not yet reached t2 hulls
At the rate they are updating ships we can expect the revamped t1 hulls to perform very cost effectively for the next couple of months, until Fozzie and Yterbium gets to the t2 hulls.
So t2 is still better, if you don't think they are better enough just mothball your t2s and go fly some of the new ships for a while. |

If you bothered to go read the actual thread in F&I forums you'd know that CCP Fozzie responded and said the logi fittings would not be staying where they are at to prevent the above scenario. |

Depends on what you're doing, there are many roads towards the same goal in EVE.
For instance, a group consisting of 30-40 of low skill pilots in T1 ships like Slashers, Scythes, Stabbers and Canes can reliably take on more experienced Pilots in similar T1 ships or even a T1 + T2 configuration. But a group consisting of 6-10 high skill pilots with say Crows, a Rapier, Vagabonds and a couple of Scimitars could decimate them without even breaking a sweat because of their superior defenses through higher speeds, resistances and lower signature radiuses. |
