k now i dont demand anything, im gonna continue playing eve, i love it, and a few days offline wount stop me, (even if i would love it a lot if what im gonna say would happen)
anyway i belive that ccp might add every customer a few days extra to save their reputation (and i definetly hope so)...
since server crash 10x a day a couple of days in a row can have bad impact on the media and potential clients, now it that same articles say that days were refunded, that really shows a good reaction) (i also think it would make us more happy, and i also think it would be fair)
but like i said, just hopeing for it, i love eve, and i dont think a couple of dt will do a major difference...
(btw im not a pro, but could this have something to do with the database not being cleaned up... like.... my char Avatar Phoenix that ive made on my first beta trial is still there, and its been inactive forever, never payed for it tho..... i mean wouldnt it be better if trial accounts and chars were deleted after 6 months... together with all that ****ty unneeded data that fills that databases)
anyway good luck to ccp if anyone reads this its best for all if it gets solved soon :)
(otherwise the thread is ment for us, users ) so what do you think? would it be fair to get a day or more extra? and do you think well get it? (i remember ccp doing it once before not even cause of problems but cause of long patching (i think i remember right)

I can tell you that CCP will first try to fix this problem and then later on they will see if there needs to be given extra information about what happend and perhaps a way to make up. While some people presume something like this may happen we can't be sure of it and personally I'm happy that CCp is concerned firstly with fixing the problem.

Edited by: The Enslaver on 27/03/2005 15:19:24 The past few days have probably been the worst since... Well, beta. I would think that there will be a refund of 1 or 2 days to each count, but unsure... Either way, its only what... 50p per account ($0.8). --------

I agree that something should be done. i don't really care about the money, but a reimbursment would generate a strong desire (fiscal) for this not to happen again. Believe me i though about trying wow during the downtime....

ccp already has a bad reputation. But name me a mmorpg that the company running it doesnt? They will always do something that most the playerbase wont like which gives them a bad rep! -------------------------

Even if it's only a fraction of a pence per customer, it's alot of money for CCP. And frankly, money they evidently don't deserve.

I'd rather the money went to buying more equipment to stop this from happening again!

Frankly, I'd rather the servers went down, and STAYED down until they were fixed, instead of this up-and-down like a yoyo.
I haven't even bothered to log in for the past few days - not going to get myself in the middle of a mission and have the server drop on me.

Equipment can still fail. More equipment means more redundancy I guess, but still, more chance of failure.
Guess it all pans out evenly in the end |

Um, if CCP don't deserve your money then why exactly are you still here? Nobody forces you to play. |

OK but I've been playing EVE for a while now and this is as bad as it gets...
~ 5 AM GMT - Amos is hunting pirates (FoE to be exact) in hostiles space (their territory - Vale of Silent or whatever); server goes down ~ 12 AM GMT - Amos wakes up to try and save himself from being pod killed and go to a safespot. Server is down...
~ 14:30 AM GMT - Amos sees server go up ... show runing ... then go down again ... what the hell guys?:D If this was tech support at my work, it'd be fired long ago :P

Guess I'm here in the first place because I've already paid them? And I suppose you are totally ignorant to the fact that they won't refund that payment?
Edit: I'm not saying they ain't worth my monthly payment. However, they don't deserve that fraction of a pence per hour of extended downtime, as that was not really in the agreement with what I agreed paying for in the first place.

Refund or not if you are that displeased with CCP I would've thought you'd cut your losses and go. The fact that you are sticking it out till the end of your paid month and will probably end up paying for another month suggests you are not as displeased as you claim and that you do think that CCP deserves your hard earned money.
Edit: Just noticed the edit at the end of your last post. And maybe you're right CCP don't deserve that fraction of a penny, but for such a small company and the game they provide for our amusement I think they do a very good job and it always irks me to see people get on their backs everytime the server has a hiccup or they don't like something in the new patch. Customers are entitled to criticise yes but unless they actually do what the staff at CCP do for a living then their opinions count as just that...opinions. To all those who think they can do better, go ahead, I look forward to downloading your uber games as soon as possible. |

really i never noticed that CCP made a great game, that is unlike any other, and that takes mmorpgs much deeper then killing monsters in the forests, best game ever....
and i wouldnt know about bad reputation...
personaly i have noticed you can get problems solved in a decent time, and their tolerance to users is really high... just try doing crap on lineage servers :P
and i never heared anything bout bad reputation when talking bout ccp, i only heared it from people that complain about everything, cause thats all they can do..
btw im also glad that ccp is focusing on the problem first... like i said.. this is just a thread for users,...

yeah there is a cost to constand development and improovements, and its much better to pay that cost then for the game to be online all the time without improovements....

lets just hope they get it together. I think perhaps something has to happen so they can sort this out. Perhaps a new server? I personally wouldn't mind paying a little bit more so they could perhaps get another server then have 100% uptime!?!??!

You say that, but when will your patience wear thin? A lot of us have alread reached that point, and as I type there is yet another unscheduled outage...
So I went to the store and bought my first game since purchasing EVE over a year ago. I saw it because of a friend (another EVE player) bought it and started playing a few days ago. You see, everyone has their limit, friend.
If these problems do not improve, I think you will reach yours as well. Good luck clicking "Connect"

I dont mind really ... as someone said already, nothing can run perfect all the time, and with server as complicated as the one EVE uses, I wouldnt be suprised to see screws like this one.
Only thing that concerns me is getting my implants back and Taranis should I get owned because of the down time :P

Well I've been playing this game since retail, and these incidents have been the first I can think of where the server has gone down. The odd planned off shedule reboot, but never like this.
Personally I think they've done damn well to not have any too serious problems up to now. ---

Wrong mate, unfortunatley when you sign up you pretty much lose every bit of right to have a say in anything.
Having had my solicitor run over the eula and tos in relation to issues iv'e had in the game, you sign everything away when you hit that accept button.
While in most if any other buisness in the world are hold to account in some manner, this is one is simpley scandalous, there accountable to no one.

I agree with you, it is very good to see that they really try very hard to fix the problem and get the game back up. Not all games try so hard to do that imho.
My suggestion, if anyone ever listened to me, was NOT to give people back 1.82$ or something and make a mess of the billing system.
But have an Event in game that due to some cosmic event cargo cans of special loots are found all over the universe both in empire and 0.0, or just in your hanger, or something.
Some small named article(s) that could be collectors items that would have no effect on game balance etc.? Special cans of quafe? A gun that can shoot odd balls of multi-colored light? Can's of paint for your ship? Race specific items?
Something imaginative and fun? How about an easter egg hunt?
Is it really that hard to do? Why not give us a break once in a while from the "reality" of the game with something fun like that? |

I'll keep it short as possible. I left Eve march 2004, after starting pretty much in the first week of release. Returned in feb 2005 to find the game as awesome as it ever was, no - better. I am glad I returned. The reason everyone is so frustrated about the instability is because we are all major lovers of the game and it is so annoying to not be on, even just staring at the inside of a station!! So I'll bite my tongue if you guys will, lets stop the whining, and have a little break from the game - go talk to your wife/girlfriend for an hour or so!! lol, use the time productively// laters. Omfg.
