Edited by: Eugene Spencer on 28/03/2005 12:09:21 Has anyone used this to record movies?

i've used it in DoD and DoW, but not eve as yet. It allows you to configure a lot more, and has a ton of cool features. What's more - it compresses in real time and so far there's been very very little effect on frame rate.
Could this overthrow fraps?
edit: made link clicky and spelling

Edited by: Eugene Spencer on 28/03/2005 12:34:56 what do you mean? Fraps isnt free?
I tried this in EVE, unfortunatly it doesnt like 'window mode' (the log in screen) and so far I havnt been able to get it to work.
I read the help file and got this...
Special Profile Set Up Conditions With most games, you can simply drag and drop your shortcut into the Profile Manager window. Other games require special set up conditions in order to function properly with Game Cam, such as: Sony Online Entertainment games require the use of a "launch pad". Some games use more than one executable or require extended information in the target path. You may need to set up a profile using one executable in the Profile Manager target path and launch the game using another executable associated with your desktop shortcut. Profiles for mods can be set up by adding information in the target parameters. Examples and detailed information is available in the FAQ.
============================
Unfortunatly, their FAQ is on their forums, and their forums are down. So not much i can do just now

sounds cool, but if it compresses in real time won't that eat up resources as ur playing?

fraps also compresses in realtime, which is why you need the codec included with fraps to play the movies before you recompress them.

Sure don't sound free to me:
Registering your copy of Game Cam for the affordable price of $24.95...
If you are not interested in Game Cam's extended features set, Game Cam Lite may be more suitable for your needs. Game Cam Lite is available for $9.95 USD...
I'll stick with good old dependable fraps. --Missa New Siggy to Come Soon(tm) |

Cant record audio though... not many videos here use the sound from the game, but the 1s that use TS audio or ingame sounds are nice. |

It's not that bad, it just does runtime compression, that's not cpu intensive at all compared to the capture itself.

Edited by: Maidra on 11/06/2005 15:32:47 Upon asking about gamecam working in eve on the game cam forums I got the following response:
Quote: Hi Armundo,
As you know the current version of Game Cam doesn't work with Eve Online. I have some encouraging news for you...the next version of Game Cam, that should be out very soon, does work with Eve Online. I downloaded the Eve Online trial and tested it with the latest Game Cam beta. Eve Online 1.19 MB, 400x300 .avi (no audio)
Seems like good news, would be interesting to see how Gamecams does the job apposed to fraps :).

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 11/06/2005 18:35:00 IIRC GameCam has much worse quality than FRAPS. Known about it for a long time though.
FRAPS also compresses in real time using DirectShow--thats nothing new either. -- The best description of alliances, ever:
