Simple answer, is the ISD player alt stating that the article as linked is wrong. WARNING: The current poster is erratic, prone to error and generally blissfully unaware due to the taking of many hard drugs over the course of many years - most of them legal. |

Genuine question: If a player has their account hacked, and the hacker is responsible for the player losing all their stuff, will CCP reimburse the loss?
Because I can't think of any other possible way CCP would offer a reimbursement. I don't think they even reimburse losses from hacked accounts, but I might be wrong. Does somebody know the answer? |

News of the Goons publishing something that might be true?
Shocking.
Seems people are conveniently oblivious that the article doesn't say that he was reimbursed, the article says that the pilot in question claims to have been reimbursed - the article itself calls this into question.
So?
It's News of The Goons.
If it isn't biassed and/or part of a generic meta game plot it would be a shame of Goons everywhere and therefore rejected.
And if it is biassed and part of a generic meta game plot it is just that and therefore rejected.
So, why would anyone bother to click on the link?
Except to feed clicks to the site?

maybe I'm just too skeptical, but "API Verified" or not, I just can't imagine anyone being dumb enough for that KM to be real. You can't really argue with 'API verified' however, eve-kill is not reliable at recognizing BPO's. Or even staying online lately. For those bitching about the story- it's one of the largest loss-mails in recent times and the dude was interviewed for the story. The tale of ~reimbursement~ was HIS claim, not something the story was putting forth as factual. .... yeah, not gonna put any faith in a goon-originated story to start with. the unreliability of killmail sites at recognizing BPO's VS BPC's, I can totally buy, and it makes it slightly more reasonable. but I am still a bit skeptical, I am not sure the level of my "faith in humanity" will allow me to buy that someone would be that stupid or frivolous. ... though this is EVE.... As to the unreliability of kill board sites, consider this.
In the linked killmail the Atron has the slot layout of a rookie ship. On the BattleClinic site it has the current correct slot layout for an Atron. Both are API verified.
I checked my personal kills/losses on the first site (EVEKills) and it does indeed know how many slots an Atron is supposed to have.
In other words, I believe I believe it is entirely possible someone has found a way to fake API verified kill mails.
There could easily be another explanation, but I believe this bears looking into.
As for the pilot being reimbursed.... not bloody likely. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I'll actually have to take back the part about EVE Kills knowing how many slots an Atron has. In kill mails showing a completely fit Atron the weapons/etc. show up correctly... but do not have the little box around them denoting a actual usable slot. The guns/etc. are just there. This means that an unfit Atron would still only show the old number of slots (2/2/2).
Eating crow to avoid muddying the waters. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. Standard CCP GM reimbursement for ship loss only covers hull and destroyed modules. Dropped modules/cargos aren't covered. I'm not sure about destroyed cargo though, I'm guessing a no.
Not knowing the full circumstances, the Atron guy's incredibly stupid running around in null with a bare Atron hull. How daft can you get? A bare hull won't have the align time to escape (unboosted) inty locks, much less deal with bubbles.
Now a GM allegedly replaced these losses in a few hours???? ... well, thats several magnitude faster than normal. How? The avg can be from a few days to weeks. Now, I'd like to think CCP customer service level had improved after ALL THESE YEARS ... but by this much? Wow *sarcasm*
