Hello!
I've been playing EVE for little more than a week now, already done the tutorials, mined a bit, tried out some small ships (im flying a destroyer right now), starting to feel more confident about the basic gameplay, despite obviously with lots of things I have no clue about.
The point is, so far the role I'm more interested in is to being an explorer, finding wormholes and combat sites. I checked some guides, and some of them really inspired me, such as this one.
And now for the question, is the "explorer profession" doable as a starting path? Should I focus my skills into the scanning and probing ones and invest money into a Imicus frigate or should I start training and investing for PVE skills, Cruisers, etc.?
Is it possible at all to do the PVE content of exploration with the T1 exploring frigate? As apparently I can't find a signage, warp in, bookmark and come back later, I don't see how I would properly perform with it...
Well, there is actually more than a simple question, but that will do for now :)
Thank you very much in advance! |

In short, yes exploration is a good career, I would advise reading this thread as it's very similar in scope. Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum -á-á-á ---CCP can't patch stupid--- |

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I have read that thread, indeed there are some good info there! I decided to open a new topic anyway because I felt my questions were more towards how and in which order should I evolve if I want to both explore and PVE nicely..?
Thank you! |

In the nicest possible way, this question is one of the most common ones on this forum. A simple search would find you loads of info because everyone asks this question :D
No you cant do it ALL in a t1 frigate.
Yes you CAN scan a site, bookmark it and come back in another ship.
Train to use 5/6 probes, then work on tanking and weaponry skills (in that order initially).
Get hold of me personally if you like and i'll talk more. Till then i assume you did a search and found all the answers. If you have any further thoughts on something i've posted, or want to ask an unrelated question feel free to contact me by EvE Mail or by private conversation if i'm online. As with anything in this game, you need to realize that even exploration is dangerous, and PVP oriented. You are competing directly with other players for access to the sites available. The less competition you have (less populated areas), the greater the chance of finding, and clearing a site. Realize that people "site stealing" is very common, and isn't even frowned upon by CCP.
Of course, this means that no different than any other career, eventually you will find yourself wanting to go other places, and trying different tactics. Don't get discouraged with what you do and don't find, and most importantly, be very careful in wormholes.
As with other posters, if you have any questions about exploration as a career, feel free to send me a mail or a convo. |

Don't forget to train for a cloaking device, the explorer's best friend. |
