Pulled this snippet off another thread because it's a really good question.

In the absence of CCP answering the question (are they even able to?)
1) Do you consider yourself a highseccer or more accurately, a carebear? 2) If you do, how long have you been playing?

You'll need to define "carebear" for this thread to have a shred of objectivity.
Are you talking about people who do pve and industrial content, or people who want to rid the game of non-consensual interaction? (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST) |

Two main characters ( I don't consider any to be 'alts'; each has their own purpose).
This one here mines in HiSec and has tried mining in LoSec and proved that it is quite possible to lose money mining.
Another character wanders in and out of HiSec and into LoSec all of the time and is trying HiSec Piracy as somone has also previously mentioned.
When this other lad is in HiSec he certainly isn't being a CareBear at all. Anything but. |

Anyone who olny plays PVE and thinks that they should not be engaged in PVP at all in high sec while thinking that having to change their fit to adapt to said PVPers as destroying their playstyle is in my book a carebear. |

Semi-retired PvP'er now chilling in empire for the last couple of months waiting to see if the new crimewatch changes ignite the spark again here.
I usually spend a year at a time in 0.0 then either get bored or find there are blues I'd rather see neut / red, so go back to empire for a few months until 0.0 changes again. Would prefer to be in low-sec but that's still broken after all these years.
This time though I don't see any reason to go back to 0.0 again, the new incoming changes look as if they could be fun. (at least more fun than pressing F1. F2 etc every so often in laggy fleet fights). You can fit a ship easily in one station in high, no huge blobs....and the ability to pick your own blues / wars.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more people who prefer a really short blue list or more independant gameplay style returning to empire as the two big coalitions clear out (or blue) the rest of the 0.0 alliances if the new crimewatch stuff turns out well.

Carebear : people who avoid and afraid of being involved in pvp in any way possible
Carebear : people who don't actually do pvp but fine with other people doing it and accepts that conflict does exist and a core part of this game
Carebear : people who does pvp, but deals with pve stuff a lot of time as well, including industrial and mining

But as the definition of carebear isn't answered, I'm still PVE-ing for ISK to fund my pvp habit. Does that make me a carebear?

Carebear. Not particularly interested in PvP, and generally try to avoid it unless someone's asking for help on a hole. Want to get into it more as it seems to be a large part of the endgame, but generally prefer indy activities. Couldn't care less about my killboard but working towards helping out competently in fleet activities and, of course, minimizing losses, which requires some experience with PvP. I'm not looking for PvP when I log in, though, which I think puts me in the soft and cuddly basket.

"Main" account created February 2006 (not played continually since then though, there have been some pauses).
I am absolutely a carebear, i've been to 0.0 and tried that. Didnt like it at all (this is a few years ago, but i dont imagine things have changed much).
Oh, and finally, i must comment on this one :

Is this "todays" Rattlesnake, or the "old" Rattlesnake ? Now they cost what, 600 mill or so ? I bought mine for 2.1 bill back in the day (and i worked #%-ñ&"#%-ñ hard to get it...lol). I then used it as my primary mission runner for a couple of years until the Golem was released.
Still sitting in my hangar, there is much sentimental value in that ship, even though its monetary value took a serious nosedive

Anyone like this I'd suggest speaking to a Null Sec alliance and offering to basically seed their markets, maybe even join them. Most alliances can always do with more guys willing to haul stuff around and produce stuff, especially their doctrine fits.
Just make sure you pick an alliance that doesn't issue "CTA"s or whatever where you get harassed for not taking part. "If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." - Niccolo Machiavelli |

I'm a hisec carebear, in the sense of "carebear" that is, "I don't intentionally seek PvP encounters, but I'm not going to cry to mother when PvP happens to me."
I've been playing since 2008. This character was created in December 2007, but I finished the trial period and left the game alone for 30 or so days while I was finishing up some stuff in that naked-elves-dancing-on-mailboxes game (from memory, finishing the druid epic flight form quest line, having an affair with the other raid healer, and quitting the game). Then I spent far too long trying to run L3 & 4 missions in a Merlin.
That's probably oversharing a little.
