Hi,
Be looking into doing a lot more Salvaging, My question is can one make a career from just Salvaging wrecks, am aware you can build rigs from it,
How much are the salvaging components in demand on the market ???
I have tried Ninjer Salvaging as well not sure its worth doing it.
below is what CCP have put on there main site about salvaging ?
In capsuleer combat valuable ships often get wrecked I search for wrecked ships or follow combat gangs If I find wrecks, I scan them and extract useful salvage With skill and care I can get rare intact components I sell my finds on the market or use them to build rigs
"I search for wrecked ships or follow combat gangs" how does one follow gangs into combat if not in fleet with them ? or cant it be done
Whats players view on Salvaging and how many players make good isk from it ???

Sorry I don't know the name of it, but there is a corp for salvergers that offer there services to missions runners, giving a cut to the mission runner in return for getting to salvage there missions.

Lot's of salvagers follow RvB gangs around (we tend to opereate in the same 4 systems in The Forge, so we are pretty easy to spot). Lots of ships to salvage and if you are quick there is ninja loot as well.
If your exploration skills are good you can also visit mission hubs (Osmon is close to RvB territory). Scan down Battle Cruisers and Battleships and then Ninja Salvage/Loot the mission sites.
Can be quite lucrative on some days :) |

If you dare to venture into low sec and even null sec you can find a lot of tech2 and tech3 ships to salvage (if you are lucky).
Just a few days ago I was flying a ship with a salvager fitted, found 2 tech 2 wrecks of a gate and "walked away" with 5 intact armor plates...
There was a post a few weeks ago describing how to make a living of salvaging in low and null sec, he describd using a interdictor or tech 3 ships for best efficiency but a destroyer would be fine aswell (at least in low sec). I can not find the post but perhaps someone can find and link it for you.

If you're thinking of making salvaging your primary career and source of isk I would suggest getting into manufacturing and selling finished goods instead of selling the salvage.
Salvage BPO's are very cheap and shouldn't take you very long to get a few researched, or you can buy pre-researched BPO's. The market is fairly saturated though and very competitive, so you will want to research what you will be making before you start investing in it. |

Get your main into a decent alliance that flies TII or TIII gangs often, or at least who fights somebody who does. Follow your main with a salvaging alt to battles. Loot/salvage the field. TI wrecks are worthless, only get the good stuff. Use something cloaky so you can run away, ideally a covops or a bomber (if you're more ballsy try a recon for better fitting and more highslots).
Bonus points if you can sweettalk yourself into blue standings with both opposing sides somehow. |

Start with a Noctis and hit up L4 mission runners.
Give them a good deal. Most use 50/50 split.
Some use items or salvage for the mission runner.
You can do flat isk as well.
Look for those with a 5.0 sec status in mission hubs. Strike up some convo's and you'll be suprised.
You can also join a corp that runs L4's / complexes and be a dedicated salvager for them. This is a supplemental way to get more work. |

If you dont fancy giving away half your loot, you can scan down mission runners using Combat Scanner probes.
You want to get L4's to make this worth while so look for Battleship or Strategic Cruiser class ships.
The downside to this, if the player does not disown his wrecks (which they rarely do) is that you can't use your Tractor Beam and you can't loot the wrecks without gaining a Criminal Flag to the player and his corp. This doesnt mean you can't do it, and I would recommend you at least look into the canisters to see what loot is available without getting flagged, but there are some precautions you need to take which I will outline.
>Do not use a Noctis. These are extremely expensive, and the Tractor beam range wont matter if the other player owns the wrecks. Use a Destroyer with a handful of salvagers, an MWD or AB, and an expander (II) fitted. If you have a flag, and the players corp catches you then you will be glad you only lost a 1m dessie instead of a 75m Noctis.
>Keep an eye on your D scan. Set your D scan range to around 1,000,000km. This is important if there are multiple rooms in the mission. The player may appear to have gone but they could be in a different room and return at any moment. If your dscan is set to your PvP overview settings then anything within 1,000,000km should still be in the mission.
>let your aggression run out before you return to station - self explanatory, in case they're waiting for you.
Most players wont return to the mission once they've left it, so take advantage of that. Just be aware of whats going on around you. You can make tens of millions of ISK per hour off other peoples wrecks they cant be bothered to loot and salvage. |

I know a bunch of guys in that corp. You can definitely make a good amount of isk salvaging with them.

Another thought is to find a L4 mission running corp. Many folks will just hand over a BM to wrecks to help a corpmate, or at worst ask for a cut of the salvage. Most L4 mission runners are all about speed of running missions. |

If you're looking to build a utilitarian alt, definately go for a max-skilled Noctis driver, but I'd also recommend max reprocessing skills also. Salvaging L4s and a zero-take reprocessor for scrapmetal and/or ores really comes in handy. Drop in some R&D for DCs might also be good, and maybe slip in a Mack/Orca driver skillset and you have a toon that you can resell for some iskies when you get bored. |

Buy yourself a crapton of rig BPOs, get them researched (Mediums typically only need ME3 for perfect production if you have Production Efficiency 5, Larges, ME15, and smalls no ME of any kind except for a couple exceptions.), and use them to produce rigs.
Pick some popular rigs to produce and purchase some salvage to start you off. Then go salvaging for the rest of your resources. I make energy rigs and armor rigs for my alliance in nulsec. On a good day, I can pull in over 100M isk in profit.
Not gross income. Profit. And that just buying salvage off the market in a limited environment.
So yeah. It's profitable. Extremely. |

I was trying to measure slavaging isk/hr by salvaging drone horde in noctis and it didnt turn out very well. Like 10 mil/hr with furious clicking to target and salvage wrecks so dualboxing noctis to increase effectivenes is out of question. Other NPC salvaging might be about twice as good because they should have some loot as well as salvage but 20 mil/hr is stil too low. I have never tried salvaging sleepers but you have to be part of wormhole gang to do that.
Salvaging wrecks after battle have turned out as bad idea too. Salvage is not that good. Forgotten drones turned out the best profit but still too small to bother to undock for. And often you get caght and killed by some stragglers of enmy side or yelled at by your friends because of salvaging their wreck. |

I always liked the idea of salvaging and when I was first starting in EVE I was in a mission running corp as a salvager. That said, now that I'm doing my own things with my own corp I have found I leave massive amounts of lvl 3 and 4 wrecks go to waste, mostly because I don't have the patience to go back and salvage with my cata, and while I have an alt with a noctis, he actually can do far isk earning in his machinaw where he is than coming all the way out to where I just solo'ed a mission and salvaging.
Things that come up...
Ninja Salavagers or baters - I abandon all my wrecks so I don't worry about any attempts to get aggressed in HiSec.
Will Pay to Salvage - I always assume salvagers who offer to pay for salvaging never will, so I don't even bother to check with local corps or players offering these services
Best solution that's in the works for me - I have a irl buddy in my corp who is training to be a hybrid use on our L4 runs so he can salvage our kills with his Myrm while doing some dps/repair to my BS clearing the mission zones. So many drones, so many uses and freed up slots. I created Ave Molech and I love ponies. |

Surprised no one has said this...
Salvaging in a wormhole is some of the best isk that can be made in the game. How you go about getting those precious sleeper wrecks is entirely up to you. |

Generally, JUST salvaging is very low return, but equally low risk. Combine it with manufacturing, or maybe creating the wrecks in the first place, it gets much better. Especially with looting. I second the idea of fitting salvagers on transit fits, though. All my industrials have them, and I love it; I can just pick up some tasty extras on the way to jita. |

FYI: if you think you'll make big money salvaging NPC wrecks, you're doing it wrong.
(Possible exception being higher classes of wormhole space.) |
