Hi guys just starting my play through Eve and going to record my journey if you would like you can watch it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qwOBxbXuog&feature=plcp
I never recorded the character creation because i felt that has been over done and i had already finished the tutorial which i felt would have been just frustrating to watch lol. So i've started part way through the epic arc quest. |

Comments after I watched video:
* Catalyst isn't a drone boat (none of the current destroyers are). In the upcoming expansion there will be a new drone destroyer. By the end of the arc you want to be in a cruiser, but for most of the arc that is overkill.
* Scamming and buddy offers is a no-no (as far as I know). Petition if you get scammed this way.
* From 0 to optimal you don't miss because of range (you can still miss because of tracking). As you go past optimal, you miss more and do less damage because of range. At optimal + falloff you do about 40% DPS; this is considered your max useful range. Past optimal + 2x falloff you won't hit at all.
I recommend no further than optimal + 1/2 falloff (about 80% DPS), which leaves room for manoeuvring. Of course being closer to optimal is better, but then being closer means tracking becomes more of an issue (and there are tracking enhancement modules).

Pretty much
They are a big faction of players in EVE Online who are either ruining or saving the game depending on who you ask. Their recruitments outside of the SA forums are always scams. FIRE FRIENDSHIP TORPEDOES ! Louis's epic skill guide v1.1 |

Yeah I guess the first one that comes to mind in the tutorial was they ask you to fit something to your ship so i'd look in my hold and
nothing was there (this rarely happened but still very confusing) so when i would ask the rookie help they would tell i had to buy
one on the market and at this point i never even knew where the market was. That one had me stumped for a bit at the start |

I just watched part 4. Very well done vids. I like how you are explaining everything - some of the things you get into are even fairly advanced for someone who is still on his trial. I wasn't able to explain what signature resulution or magnetometric sensor strength do at that point. Far away from it, actually :D
Kudos. I can only recommend these vids to other people who are looking to start into the game.
I had to smile when you started looking at the Info tab on various other ships you encountered. I did that a lot as well during my first travels, trying to figure out what the hell those fancy T2 ships do. It's The Legendary Extraordinary Me |

Brings back memories. I am about three months ahead of you time-wise but learned some new things from watching your videos. Half way through video 4 now. Hope you stick with Eve as you seem generally curious. If you want to read a bit more about life in New Eden check out the link to my blog in my sig. I am not as technical as you and it's a blog and not cool video but it starts just before life as a capsuleer skipping the orientation and the epic arc mostly and diving into what I decided to do once the training wheels were off.
You should think about Eve University as a corporation as you can learn a lot about a lot of different paths as you seem want to do. Good luck and just ask the community or me if you have a question or feel suck. What a surprise, yet another Eve blog http://capsuleerconfessions.blogspot.com |

Comments on part 5:
* I smiled when you mentioned some of my previously posted comments
* 29 jumps - A large number like that sometimes means you had the opportunity to go through lowsec, where it might have been say a more direct 3 jumps, but of course much riskier! You would have to change your autopilot settings to generate a route through lowsec ("prefer shorter"). Of course, one would never use autopilot to fly the route, just to plot it!
* Goonswarm recruitment scam is more of an IQ test than a scam. Countless people have failed it.
* Freighters are tech 1 ships. Deep Space Transports, Blockade runners, & jump freighters are tech 2 Industrials.
* The missing "thing" = your heads-up display or HUD. It is movable, and scalable.
* Whenever you mess-up something badly in the UI, you can reset it: press ESC and go to the Reset Settings tab, and pick what you want to reset. Helps to save overview customizations once in a while, just in case you need to restore them later.
* Everything on the market is "new". Stuff in contracts can be in any condition, as well some items can only be sold via contracts.
* hisec is 0.5 sec to 1.0 sec, and patrolled by CONCORD, which provides consequences but no real protection.
* You may find that long range weapons (for hybrids that's railguns + longer range ammo) are easier with NPC, at least until your skills are higher. That way you can stay out of their range (you can hit them, but they can't hit you), especially the range of energy neutralizers.
* You will want a cruiser to deal with Dagan. |

Hey thanks for the feed back guys, any tips you can give me I can use because I'm stuck on the mission to kill dagan so while I skill up I may try my hand in mining and manufacturing. I'm pretty sure I won't make any money but I'll find out if I like it

I had to actually get some help with that mission as my Rifter couldn't break through his active repair. If you need a hand I would be happy to pass along the help but my client is not loading at the moment so I am waiting for CCP devs to show me some love and get back to me on my petition. I hope it's soon as my skill training us up later today.

Dagan is a common stumbling block. Kind of there to enforce the multiplayer side of things (IE, get help) Ask in your local channel for some help if you cant get through his tank on your own
Enjoying the videos, makes you step back as an older player and think "Yeah, that is actually pretty awesome". You start to take it for granted
As a tip, when that guy was shooting your drone and not you you could have just approached him to zero distance. Eliminate any tracking problems of your own by not orbitting. For extra damage, buy or make yourself some Antimatter S which is the lowest range but highest damaging of the Hybrid ammo (ignoring the advanced ammo) If you are feeling rich then some "Caldari Navy Antimatter S" for added damage on the harder to kill targets may come in useful. Expensive to use all the time though on the lower level missions
You were lucky that the frigates with him didnt target your drone as well, as they would have shredded it To avoid your drone being targetted if you wait for all of the enemy to target you (yellow box) you can safely launch your drone so it doesnt get blasted. They are cheap at the mo, but when you get to the larger ones and especially the Tech II ones they start to add up if you lose them regularly |

Just for info
In the market, range is how far the buyer is willing to travel to pick it up So Station, solar system, constellation, region
Also to the right of that is "min volume" this is how many you need to sell to them
IE If you are buying minerals you dont want to be travelling all over the region to pick up a few units at a time So you can setup an order that says you will travel anywhere in the region, but set a minimum of say 10,000,000 units per transaction
Mining fits are usually: Mining Lasers
Survey scanner which tells you what is left in the asteroid Tank / capacitor modules
Lows with cargo and laser upgrades / tank
Roids dont move, so no point fitting an AB to chase them Warp in, Bookmark the asteroid(s), warp out and warp to BM at 10km / 0km |

Nice job with the videos, OP. Subscribed. Since you're playing more with the market, it might be a good idea for you to Google "margin trading scam", and learn how to avoid it.
Also, am I the only one who thinks this guy sounds a bit like Richard Kind? |

Don't forget that the ores also have a value! If you have bad skills, bad blueprint or chose a bad item, you will probably lose money by manufacturing instead of just selling the ores.
And I love your videos! You bring back all the good memories from when I was under a month old and learned something new and exciting every day. |

Dagan can be a right sod to kill, doing him solo as a noob is pretty hard. Your best bet is to put a shout out in local for some help, there's normally other players struggling to kill him to. Team up with them, they help you spank him, then you return the favour.
I had a guy turn up in an Amarr Battleship after a shout for help in local the first time I did him, man that was awesome to see in action, huge great shiny ship spewing lasers all over the place.
Quick tip is that you can rerun the epic arc every 3 months, its a good way to build up standings to the faction you choose for the dagan mission, it's quite the boost. -á-áThe Likes & Get Likes Thread Homo sapiens non urinat in ventum -á-á-á ---CCP can't patch stupid--- |

Comments on video #8:
* Cheater I would have come in an Assault Frigate to help, so you at least you would get a chance to shoot, laf!
* Alpha Clone - you get a free medical clone that can hold up to 900,000 skill points which makes it ideal to die horribly, repeatedly, early in your career.
When you get more skill points, you'll have to pay to upgrade your medical clone, or suffer skill point loss when podded (= pod destroyed).

So i think I've gotten myself to the point now that i should really be looking for a corp but most suggestions have been the eve university and rvb. As i do believe they would be excellent corps i was hoping more to get into a goal oriented corp, like taking over the universe lol. |
