Is this because the Devs thought that walking in a closet was more better than lets say....fixing Hybrid weapons?
or,
Is it because they keep trying to "Balance" everything because too many whiney players cry because they lack skills and imagination to use their racial strong points against racial weak points?
or,
Because there are so many free to play games out there now that constantly expand and present new game content that eve is becoming like your Grandma who sits in a chair and lives in the past?
or,
Because not too many players like getting their frigate hot dropped by 50 titans flown by 50 bored guys and a cyno alt that have nothing better to do?
Here are some idea's for the CCP Dev team and owners to ponder.
1) Make Eve free to play....it would make more real money draw in a sht ton of new players (Proven by all other f2p game devs)
2) Sell mining macro's. Free for .9 and .8 systems, not allowed in 1.0 and starter systems, and value based on all systems below .8, and tweek it a bit so the licence cost is based on two things, value of ore available, and time you can mine per 24 hour cycle....you can still manually mine for free.
3) Capital ship licensing and space restrictions. like a Titan will cost 5 billion per month to licence and can only be used in null sec ofc, but also make it so it can't be used in anything less than a true sec of lets say 0.0 (.3), Mom's are a bit less, lets say 3b/mth and are usable in all null sec but not low sec, and 500m per month for carriers and dreads with restrictions that allow use in anything below a 0.2 sec system.....and a cyno license costs 200m per ship or something that will make player thing before they decide to drop 30 Moms on your retriever because you where there and they where 40 systems away and bored like most eve players are these days.
4) Forget about ambulation completely.
5) More micro transactions, like re-mapping changed from 1 year intervals to 3 month intervals at a cost of lest say 1b or something.
6) Manufacturing earns license credits that can be sold on the market.
7) Tell us about these hidden worm hole features that for the last 4 years still have not been found by the guys that have spent 4 years in worm holes....just a thought, but personally I have always believe that this is just a carrot on a string.
8) Remove local chat from Null Sec.....and guess what, the botting issue will clear up really fast.
9) Add better rewards and make them drop consistently from hidden sites, complex's and dead space area's.
10) Rework Jita and add a marketing license for all marketeers with more than 5 different item types (buy or sell orders).
11) Add empire based cyno's for none combat ships like Freighters and Orca's. I would gladly pay 100m to jump a freighter 30 jumps.
There are hundreds of ways to bring this game back up to an industry leader, but it will take a leap of faith and a lot more banging on the dev's door....or as we are currently seeing, a kick in the wallet.

Lots of other games have elves in too, but that's no reason for Eve to have them. Eve is great because it's not like other games - let's keep it that way.
You don't stop the problems created by mugging by making it legal to mug people.
It won't have the effect that you think it will have.
4) Forget about ambulation completely.
Probably your least bad idea.
5) More micro transactions, like re-mapping changed from 1 year intervals to 3 month intervals at a cost of lest say 1b or something.
Micro-transactions are the problem, not the solution.
6) Manufacturing earns license credits that can be sold on the market.
I have no idea what you're suggesting.
7) Tell us about these hidden worm hole features that for the last 4 years still have not been found by the guys that have spent 4 years in worm holes....just a thought, but personally I have always believe that this is just a carrot on a string.
How do you know that nobody has found them?
8) Remove local chat from Null Sec.....and guess what, the botting issue will clear up really fast.
No it won't.
9) Add better rewards and make them drop consistently from hidden sites, complex's and dead space area's.
If anything, rewards in Eve are already too good.
10) Rework Jita and add a marketing license for all marketeers with more than 5 different item types (buy or sell orders).
Changing Jita will just create a new hub somewhere else, just like what happened to Yulai. Further limiting the ability to sell things will kill the market
11) Add empire based cyno's for none combat ships like Freighters and Orca's. I would gladly pay 100m to jump a freighter 30 jumps.

Except the suggestion to forget about incarna, which i completely agree with, most of these are terrible ideas.
Legal mining macros (call them 'slaves', NPC employees and give them some attributes and upgrade options) is the only other one I'd consider worth thinking about. Mining is a terrible mechanic and no human should ever do it. Presumably, most mining is already done by bots or players manually managing 20 accounts to do it (yeah - my ass).
As for free to play: No - if someone has built up a secure source of income, eve is pretty much free to play anyway - if someone can't be bothered with that, he can still pay RL cash to sell plex.
Making it free to play beyond that will only attract even bigger asshats than we currently have in the game. morons-áare recruiting. We're good at breeding! |

subscriptions are down 30% across all mmos right now even wow. the trouble is the economy and underemployment (less money going less far because of inflation and a devalued currency)
So players have less time...players have less money.. other things are more expensive.
Free to play games suck; I've not found one that can hold my attention for long.., but there are some who've taking that route. however, more of my friends just don't have money or time to play anymore (even the free to play offerings) |

As for your initial questions:
Yes, they probably thought laying the foundation for multiplayer avatar based interactions was more important than hybrids. That may have been a bad call, or badly handled, but not completely off the mark. Especially when you consider the high demand for it from the player base over the years.
I agree that often people crying out for balancing are often simply wanting to swing the advantage back in their direction without effort. However certain things, like Super Carriers, are a legitimate issue.
There are plenty of games out there that are not free-to-play that are doing just fine, EVE included.
Apparently Titans will soon not be able to doomsday anything smaller than a cap ship. Hopefully that will make it in.
As to the rest:
1: F2P doesn't seem to provide a very dedicated player base, something that EVE by it's very nature encourages and requires.
2: Selling mining macro's won't fix a thing of course. 3rd parties would just make sure that their macro's are cheaper and do things that CCP's version wouldn't allow. Devaluing the time spent mining only adds to the problem.
3: Selling uber expensive Cap ship licenses will only ensure that very wealthy groups will have them. This happens to be the exact same group that are currently using them to excess. Making something more expensive as a way to control it's use in EVE has never worked, and never will work.
4: i somehow don't think that they will throw the years of work developing Incarna, for both EVE and WOD, away because some people don't like the extremely limited initial release. Frankly, if they did, most people would be furious... even the people that don't necessarily like Incarna.
5: MT for re-mapping is likely going to be a hot topic of debate. We shall see.
6: License credits?
7: As far as wormhole hidden features not showing up yet, that is something that could stand some iteration. Personally I'm still waiting for something nifty to happen involving my Jovian Ambassador body parts.
8: I don't have anything against removing local in Null Sec, however you should keep in mind that a bot can hit the scan button more quickly than a player and will never tire of it. Bots won't care a wit after the first week.
9: EVE has too much money as it is, increasing rewards is not the answer. Re-balancing the distribution of the rewards and improving the game play necessary to get them is another matter.
10: Reworking Jita? If you feel that is necessary see the answer to number 11.
11: Instituting empire based cyno's to speed up travel causes a lot of game play issues, not the least of which is making it even easier to get to Jita. If you want more action in EVE, more vulnerability, more conflict, and most importantly if you want to break up Jita into more localized market centers... make it HARDER to transport commodities and travel than it is now.
I think that pretty much covers it.
