Hello,
There are many scammers. Most not only scam but also spam. Its annoying. One can only sit and go nice scam, or give an indication that a person is a scammer so much. It would be better if one could put a bounty on his ass, and then his name would be red in chat or something. That ought to get peoples attention and think twice before eagerly accepting someones scam contract or sending ISK to be doubled. If anything its gonna reduce the amount of scam and spam in the channels which would be nice in itself and it would be excellent if there was some sort of indiciation in the chat as well, that someone was wanted |

With the bounty changes coming that would become sort of an option, but overall I don't think it will affect much. There needs to be a better look at the whole spam issue from CCP's side - as kind of displayed in my Jita report - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=164612

OP was clearly scammed. You are one of those guys that want game mechanism changes because they dont suit you, you are to blame when sandbox turns to themepark. |

Wait what? How do you think about falling for a scam?

Do not trust people in Jita local. Only people here in forums are trustworthy. So, if you want to double your ISK, send it to me. |

Putting a bounty on scammers are no different than spammers, it is pointless despite the changes. They recycle charactors so often. Also because of the ability to bounty whole corps and alliances or anyone really with a small amount of isk. there would be a TON of colored names if bounties had color in chat. It will get to the point where everyone looks the same. Opposite of intended effect. As Chribba said, its on CCPs side to fix spam. There is nothing to fix in scams, though they shouldn't be able to say the same thing hundreds of times throughout the day. |

Sure, real spammers/scammers would be marked, but legitimate people would also get marked by random assholes as well, and local would become useless as a chat method.
Really, the best you can do is to ban them yourself. Or keep Jita local minimized (nothing important happens there anyway). Rifterlings - small gang frigate PvP - low/nullsec operations, newbie-friendly, free ship program; Join today! www.rifterlings.com

Bounties won't help much because with new bounty system literally every character will have a bounty on his/her head sooner or later - whole chat window will be red in few weeks if color indication will be implemented.
P.S. It is a good idea actually - to be able to set up highlight color in local chat channel if person has bounty above certain number (i.e. all characters with 500m+ bounties = red). |

Actually you are not allowed to do this. You can **** up local all you want with your spam scam contracts, thats allowed. But you are not allowed to point out scams, that is spamming. Just the other day I was counter-posting against a scammer, in hopes my warning would prevent someone from falling for it. I got an evemail from a GM telling me that 'my spam was annyoing to the citizens of New Eden' and that I need to quit it. The guy with the spam contract never got contacted by the GM he says. Since all my posts were responses to the scammer there is no way I was typing more or faster than him. So that leads me to believe posting your scam contract every 2-3 minutes is okay, but posting ^Scam underneath those scam contracts is not. |

Sounds like he, or someone else, petitioned you for harassing/spamming, and something that you could escalate. Claiming someone is a scammer is a legitimate "counter" to their scamming, and information that may prove useful to others. If I were you, I'd ask the GMs in a more official manner how to combat local-spamming scammers. Let's do some critical thinking here.
You said all your posts were responses to the scammer? That means every time the scammer posted a contracted, you started calling it out on them. By doing this, you were actually causing more spam than the scammer, and this is why you were gagged, but the scammer was not.
In EVE, something is not considered "griefing" or "harassment" if the person guilty of the behavior is somehow profiting from it (or if the behavior falls within accepted game mechanics). Someone posting a scam contract (either every few minutes or every few seconds, depending on the flow of chat traffic) is profiting because someone eventually accepts the contract.
A scamwhiner, however, does not profit from pointing out the scams repeatedly, and is in fact just shitting up Local with a sleuth of useless drivel. This is why you were gagged, but the scammer was not. Everyone vs Everyone Xuixien - Space Cat, Queen of Rens |
