Ok wanted info on the best ways or even if it is possible to play eve as a non hard core gamer. Really only have time to play 3 to four hours a week. Is it possible to have an enjoyable experience playing this amount? Game has already been addictive to a bad point actually but thought I'd ask.
Also how easy/hard is it to get involved in the ongoing story line as it is played out on the website? Not just corp wars and such but changes in the races and concord stuff. Have been told that the storyline missions basicly disappear after about ten or so is this correct? Does the world change and evolve on a story basis is what I'm asking I guess. Thanks!

Eve is probably the best game available for softcore gamers. The skill system allows you to the keep up with others such that the only thing that can hold you back is lack of ISK and knowledge/experience. ISK is fairly easy to make nowadays, so that's not much of an issue, and you can gain a lot of useful knowledge by keeping up with the boards and stories. As long as you're OK with not having a ton of ISK and the newest best stuff, you'll really enjoy the game, because there's still a lot to do and have fun with on a limited income.
You could also get into production and research, which allows you to make money without a lot of playing time, since it can take awhile to build things like ships. So you can start a batch building when you log off at night, then login quickly before work, place them on the market, and hopefully have money to spend by the time you get to play again.
Most of the stories you read here don't have a whole lot of impact on the game itself. I don't know of any storyline missions that refer to a headline here, though maybe there are some. They're more to add depth to the universe than anything else at this time, which really is a shame. Basically, if it doesn't say "This news item has a hint" or something to that effect at the bottom, you won't be missing out on anything.
I and many others would like to see more of an impact on the actual game made by these stories. Like this whole Zainou thing. It's been up for a month and nothing has changed ingame. Such a waste of potential.

Thanks, any tips on training for those who are on a limited time budget? How about corps that are more or less willing to employ casual gamers? Anyone else have opinons?
Thanks again!

Train short skills while online. Just before you log of, start a long skill. When you relog continue with short ones. Repeat.
Getting into the events is mostly a matter of being in the right system at the right time. So it s mostly luck based. If you mean the agent missiopns, then you get an important (storyline) mission about every 10-20 missions depending on your standings. Most important reason for not failing those is the great increase in empirial standing you get.
The world changes indeed based on storyline things, mostly those covered in the news. But sometimes the event team has things going on in the game that you only know when you ve been there.
It also seems that the big alliances will get more influence upon the storyline.

You get an important/storyline mission every 16 missions, as long as you don't fail or turn one down.

Any corp worth its salt should be happy to have someone even if it is only for a short ammount of time each week. I too, am now limited in how much time i can play but it doesnt affect the fun of the game :)
Bite me....for i taste good :)

Im a softcore for the most part, not by choice, and i still really enjoy eve.
in my case i havent bothered with corps as i dont have a regular schedule to plan things woth the corp on, so instead i just plug my own way through the game. It takes a little longer to amass wealth and cool stuff when your on your own, but its certainly not hard to do and when you do achieve greater things it makes feel all warm and tingly knowing you did it yourself! like shake and bake!
i would say missions would be a good way to put ship and weaponry training to good use while making some good money. Once you start finding a few tech 2 items those can be kept to improve yourself or sold to increase wealth. could probably do a couple an hour at first. good way to start enjoying eve...
