Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last release of the EVE Online OST (so called volume 1) is now quite incomplete.
Is this just because it is now a sort of handpicked section of tracks that are available for purchase? Or is it just outdated?
If it is outdated, when, if at all, could we expect a revised release, or even a volume 2?
I'd like to hear if any information has been given on this subject as thus far I have failed to find any. |

I think it would be great if the current soundtrack was remastered. Right now it sounds a little dated. |

I'd like to hear if any information has been given on this subject as thus far I have failed to find any. Try searching EVE Files, I'm sure there's other stuff there. And if you don't have a problem using torrent files, then run a search for "eve online music" is your favourite torrent search, and you'll find a ton of tracks...
Also, with a bit of giggery-pokery, you can get into the music files from your EVE install - some of which, as pointed out by Sarmatiko (sp?) in this thread are already in your client, but haven't been activated yet, ie. they're new... I listened, just this morning, to the four he listed - though I had to run them through both ww2ogg and revorb (2 seconds work) to get them to play in vlc player.

Actually, if you check the thread I linked above, or even the most recent Dev Blog, you'll see that 'Team Klang' are working on new music, as well as sound effects... What seems strange (if I'm reading it correctly) is that the new music is played independently of the jukebox... |

As for alternatives to the in-game music, check these out:
Solar Fields - Leaving Home - Going In - The Road To Nothingness - Sky Trees - Monogram
A lot of their stuff is very "Eve".
Stellardrone - A Moment Of Stillness (EP) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzhUVz56Fk0 Light and slightly optimistic sounding melodic space thematic ambiance, flowing and vibrating synths with bells. Try "Twilight"
Distant System - Spiral Empire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CalScGKqtrw More beats, faster, more dark. Has an "Aura" voice near the end of the album talking about how she uses low computer resources to function. Has a lot in common with the EVE soundtracks in my opinion.
MIC - Conception Synth beats and ambiance with flowing melodic piano
Thats some suggestions for listening while playing eve! :D

I have to say that the Retribution login screen has phenomenal music. It would be great to get more in-game tracks of this quality. |

I've been looking to find if the quote "They are also making different music playlists play in hisec, lowsec and zero sec" from a recent devblog + the Retribution login screen music meant there would be new music for EVE OST, and now it has been confirmed. From what I listened to I can say it's great stuff. "If the essence of life is information carried in DNA, then society and civilization are just colossal memory systems." |

From what I listened to I can say it's great stuff. The thing about the playlists is that they don't feature new music. All of that music is already available in the Jukebox. It's simply been arranged to fit where you are.
This is the quote you're looking for:
CCP Ripley wrote:Team Klang is responsible for the sound in the game. They are working on new turret sounds designed to better capture the scale of battle and sound good at different distances. They are also making different music playlists play in hisec, lowsec and zero sec to capture the mood of each region and connect better with the visuals of each security band. From my reading of the Dev updates in the Test Server thread I linked above, I'd say that these Hisec / Lowsec/ Null playlists are indeed new music - ie. switching off the jukebox doesn't stop them playing, you need to turn off the Eve-music setting...
I'd recommend the whole thread as being worth a good read, but this individual post is quite interesting too... |

Every track I heard could be located in the Jukebox in Tranquility (Inferno).
The post you're linking to just confirms what I've previously stated. |

I've been playing EVE for 3 years and im still listening to EVE soundtrack most of the times. It desperately needs new content. If nothing else add all login music tracks there and/or music from plexes like Akat Mountains etc. (Also Alienhand is more than worth of noticing)
Also i'd like to expres kudoz for picking Retribution's login theme. It's first good theme since Apocrypha. (CCP sound people - what were you doing for last 3 years!!!) |
