With the recent increase in blatant and arrogant piracy of the TAINS insta-bookmark sets we have been forced to consider alternative methods of dealing with resellers.

The redistribution is unstoppable. This will just lead more attention to the availability of instas that people who aren't billionaires can actually afford. Keep it up, I'd like the region-packs to hit about 3m before purchasing some (yes, I'm cheap).

Anyway, sweet irony, FNZ hired with money made in the BM industry. These pirates have no morals whatsoever these days anymore do they?

maybe we should put an end to the debate about the start of the war. because i think now it has ceased in relevance. wat happens from now on is the prosecution and outcome of the war. can the service industry defend themselves? will FZN disrupt USO?
will we get a morale victory here???
anyway.
2005.04.11 16:13:00 Hot Sauce has declared war on Finite Horizon. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those invovled.

1) I did not say to let the resellers go, I suggested a bounty. 2) In your case the trader isn't going after the pirate, they are hiring a team of mercs to wage war on him. 3) It's not an arguement... it's my opinion.
In just the little you wrote, you got a lot wrong... in fact, I don't see anything you said about my opinion that wasn't a misrepresentation. I know you might be upset that someone is after your bread and butter (or cake, as it seems), but clear your head and thoughts can flow in much easier.
Viceroy ...
You are clever as always (cough). I'm impressed the corp is sticking by its members, but the point was not in the target corp's loyalty. The point was TAI could've handled this a lot differently.
Come on guys, actually READ these things. You are so ready to jump down somebody's throat in response that you are missing it all.

Edited by: RollinDutchMasters on 11/04/2005 20:38:15 Making comprehensive insta sets for regions is a laborious and difficult process. I don't see why anyone who hasnt done it themselves thinks they should be able to dictate the prices that someone else is offering for such a valuable commodity.
But it doesnt matter. They can and will be copied. I have no idea why this is even a debate - an industrial corp is employing mercs to attack another industrial corp for the purposes of settling a trade dispute. Thats half the reason mercs ******* EXIST.
Why is this even an issue, you stupid bastards. Originally by: Razor Jaxx You parallel this to the piracy of intellectual property on the i-net. I got news for you, its a good thing SOME people are still buying games, music and books, because if EVERYONE was pirating on the simple ground that "if it's out there, it's free", soon there would be no games, no books or no music, because their creators couldn't make a living out of it.
Most people who think large-scale intellectual property theft is a good idea work in a job where they say some varient on 'Would you like fries with that?'. On the off chance they ever try to get paid for doing something creative, they will suddenly have a new opinion on the matter.
Originally by: Sochin CCP has provided you with the tools you need to avoid crime. You're just too lazy/stupid to use them.

This would solve nothing.

This is called risk vs reward. The war is the action they risk by reselling, quite simple really.

Our options in game are very limited. There is nothing aside from this that is even remotely effective that can be done. It's not like we can sue them or anything. Thus, our only recourse is to apply force to drive the point home.

Edited by: Lygos on 12/04/2005 00:48:28 This is just competition by other means.
Lowballing in EVE is dramatically unlike lowballing in the supermarket. Comparison shopping is effortless, hence hyper competition. I wish these means actually worked in this case or in the market in a more tangible way. Operating costs seem to mean little these days. The market and industry skills aren't a whole other stage of production, but merely a small perk on top of basal productive capacity. The skills training curve on industrial skills, untiered, makes it even worse.
Since bookmarking as a career is minimally supported by ingame tools, competition in the field is necessarily unorthodox anyhow.

Your director made the order for this war on your house, we are simply delivering.

Buying up inventory in a station and reselling at a higher price is a bit of a low business venture.
Buying stuff like bookmarks and selling again... that's just immoral, mmkay? Making money off' the hard work of others is only ok if you face what you are doing, which is why I think Corp Thievery, Ore Thievery and Scamming is ok, as long as you realize that you're screwing someone completely over.
But re-selling bookmark packs like this and claiming honesty and integrity?

i think the problem with this is your all looking at it from a moral immoral / theft POV. look at it like this. TAINS produced a unique product - fair point im not debating that. they made a shed load a cash on it, good for em.
then USO 'obtained' a 'copy' of this unique product and started 'manufacturing' it generically (this may start too sound familiar) and sold it at a vastly reduced price. now this paralells the pharmacutical business, u have a money making monopoly for a while then someone muscles in, either by doing there hard work or by 'aquiring' it.
i see know problem with it, but i also see no problem with there reaction how else do u deal with corporate espionage???
anyway there neednt be flaming. TAINS r trying too protect wat they believe should only be theres (fair point) andn USO are pretecting one of there own who dare be 'opportunist' (another fair point)
so lets keep it clean and bloody.

OMFG!!!!!!
Really, I mean, this is a game. Fighting is fun, so i cant knock Finite Horizons in any way for taking money to war dec a corp. I would do it.
The fact that some lunatics are going to pay mercs to war dec a corp for allegedly copying bookmarks, well, that has to be one of the lamest things I have ever heard, short of when I was told my corp were hibernating so they could all go and pick flowers and stitch bags whilst pretending to be pixies or something!
