Seems also when exclusion is set on AV for Eve.exe this one still scan client/website communications. Is there any solution to solve this? (https adress or whatever) |

There is a solution here, Stick with Windows 7 to make Microsoft actually realize that just slapping a few shiny features onto an operating system explicitly designed for tablets and smartphones isn't acceptable.

You missed the point, it's not because it LOOKS like tablets software that it is one, and to me, not being computer expert at all, the problem doesn't come from windows8 at all. I only have this issue with Eve, nothing else where opposed to Eve, everything runs much faster and smoother than ever before.
Same internet, same speedtest results, vista 32 in an old IDE drive with it's huge resources appetite can make Eve run smoother and higher options than Win8 64 pro version in sata drive with a much higher performance level (don't know about the other ones) that is by large margin less ogre resources wise.
It's not either GC issue since it's the same in both windows versions. Not telling it's always CCP fault but seems there's an obvious issue with 64b versions and Eve.

I'm thinking about a computer upgrade, and would be highly interested to know if there are any issusing with EVE and Windows 8 XP Pro 64bit.
Note especially the 64 bit - bit, as I'm pulling out the stops on the PC spec, and I want to use a humungous amount of RAM (read: 32Gb) on this PC.
Will EVE run ok on it? I'd hate to blow the vast amount of money for this PC and can't run EVE! |

Update for my issue. It looks like it's an ATi driver issue where the CCC Profile process hangs in the background taking up 50% of my CPU. I kill the process and Eve works like a charm again. I only have to do it once per boot.
ATi Legacy drivers + Windows 8 = unstable
I'm not sure if it's an Eve issue causing this or if it's just a crap driver. |

Since I can see the difference in between the 32 and 64 win versions difference, I'm about to be sure 100% it's Win8 64 platform the issue or compatibility issue here.
Tried everything possible as a non computer expert and actually can't see anything possible to improve this laggy or freezy Eve playing than run the vista 32 version if I want to play Eve decently, which means reboot+bios setup-reboot blahblahblah, ubber cool situation.
This sucks ass.

Tried everything to get this working. I can sometimes get the client to launch after a system restart, but as soon as I log out I am screwed - client flashes up on the taskbar briefly then dissapears.
Tried launching direct from ExeFile as well, tried running as administrator, nothing. Reinstalled client as well. Nothing.
This is only since retribution btw - was fine on Windows 8 before then.
So basically I am paying 4 subscriptions for nothing at the moment as CCP wont help me cos I have W8.....

I can't seem to reinstall the game client I tried both the installer, which starts to download then the status bar goes blank and above it the text string displays a Chinese symbol followed by D2 and freezes the installer. The offline installer simply refuses to download, I have used different download managers, web browsers, and computers(Every one I have access to is windows8). They all simply refuse to download or completely download the offline parts. When it was installed it tried to update through the game launcher but all I got was a wall of text error message.

Switched to new machine with Windows 8. This machine has an Intel/Nvidia combined GPU (Intel integrated gpu, Nvidia takes over when needed). The machine has 8GB RAM, quadcore intel i7 and an SSD.
I cannot start the Eve client when TeamSpeak is already loaded. Using the logserver.exe I see the client stops loading at line 665:
... 6642012.12.12 18:00:00:157CreateDevice 6652012.12.12 18:00:00:161trying to detect DX11 feature level...
At this point the eve client icon vanishes, the exefile process dies. The launcher remains active. Quitting TeamSpeak and restarting the client from the launcher will result in a normal start:
... 6642012.12.12 18:00:00:157CreateDevice 6652012.12.12 18:00:00:161trying to detect DX11 feature level... 6662012.12.12 18:00:00:255dx11_0 6672012.12.12 18:00:00:255valid adapters: [0] ..and moving on from this point.
I've had some issues with graphics too; one time when a ship exploded, the entire screen background went white. Haven't seen it after the last cache clear action though.
Edit: also seeing these issues, mentioned above:

Not Grim alt whatsoever but flowing this thread with high interest.
As stated before I have several stability issues, this workaround could be some "A" solution if the same machine using Vista32 in another hard drive wouldn't run Eve (almost) perfectly as it does, which means it has nothing to do with hardware problems or connection/isp issues.
Win8 seems to take over "some stuff" and uses whatever drivers (directx11???) despite whatever Eve commands, I'm not computer expert but this illogical stuff (as per usual with stuff done by nerds...) has no head or shoulders and even less feet so we could at least point at something and say "haha, yer ****** stuff gotcha", no, there's nothing I can do other than run Eve with vista 32....awesome stuff is probably not that awesome.
Any news from CCP dudes?

Would click on EVE icon on desktop, and it would open up the launcher. Would then click the 'Play' button and it would 'depress' like I actually clicked it, but nothing happened. The odd part is, the night before, I was playing EVE, running 2 accts simultaneously, the launcher just stopped functioning.
The workaround if anyone should have this issue:
Go into your CCP folder in Program files ->EVE -> bin -> EXEfile
My problem with windows 8 was that I would try to run the eve launcher for the first time, and it completely crashed my computer to the point of where it did an immediate restart. After running the repair tool and everything checked out ok, I went to run eve in both "safe mode" and normal launcher yet it would give an error message [u]:
"See the logfile'C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe.log' for details"
Looked at the forums and although our problems are different, running the client directly seems to have allowed me to play the game. Here are my system specs as requested. Manufacturer: TOSHIBA Model: Satellite L875D Processor: AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 2.7 GHz Installed Memory (RAM): 6.00 Gb (5.46 usable) System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-Based Processor
If this helps, let me know. Thank you. If I have anymore issues, I will let you fine folks at CCP know. |

Had no OS specific issues since switching to Windows 8. Last patch resulted in an error and inability to load but the repair tool solved this. A friend on similar hardware and running Windows 7 had similar issues.
3 monitor setup - 2 clients usually running.
AMD X6 1090T 3.6GHz Black Edition 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6850 AMD Radeon HD 6450 DirectX 11
Not going to try and convince anyone to change their minds but so far my experience with Windows 8 has been fairly positive. I got the pro version for a hard to resist $15 and for the first few days I found all the changes a bit hard to work with. After a couple of days I got used to the changes and after a couple of months I can't really see myself going back to 7. Any issues I've had have usually been solved by just running programs as admin.
Before I gave it a go I thought it sounded horrible. After trying it I feel I over reacted.
John Ricar: I wouldn't have even tried to patch from Quantum Rise. I wouldn't have thought that would have worked on any other version of windows with all the changes to the way eve updates itself. If you can spare the bandwidtch you are probably better off just downloading a fresh client. If you can't maybe you can get hold of a friends copy? |

So far so good with Windows 8 64bit Pro.
No real problems, although I'm currently having some issues with EVE Voice - namely the Push to talk keeps cutting out even though I have the talk key depressed. I'm assuming this is a Windows 8 issue, because it was fine on XP 64 Pro before. |

Just got a brand new computer with Windows 8 and having issues with Eve client crashing often. Seems to happen under following circumstances specifically when I have 2 clients running:
1. At initial login just after selecting the character to log into 2. When undocking, 3. When starting a mission, just as targeting begins
I have graphics settings mixed between max and medium (tried all low too) and I have HD off. Both clients in windowed mode.
