hi guys,
I remember that several years ago, yes it's several years now, CCP took on the WOD franchise.
I know that it's sort of rumbling along quietly, but can't seem to find any official info on the game. so I was wondering if anybody can say anything about how things are going, and if we are going to see the game eventually |

lol Why thankyou sir! Max is an old name now, over 35 years old now.
It started out first in the old pen, paper and dice D&d back in the late seventies and has been my alter ego ever since I guess. A little infantile now for a guy in his fifties, but I was only 17 when it was created. Well, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it

Well, seeing as I decided to spend the evening mining to get the mins for my next batch of Battleships I have used the time to take a wander about the interweb thingie and to see what I can find.
If I am reading things right, as of April this year things were still pressing on well, with reports of an in-house (Alpha?) test happening. However, since then there seems to have been nothing of substance.
I am guessing, but it feels like; yes WOD is still in the pot, but don't expect it to be cooked for another two, possibly three years. Like many companies, CCP has had to go through a period of 'restructuring' and the associated staff reductions, and then the 'Getting Eve back on track' and Dust have taken priority.
I guess that I might well have to look at The Secret World for my non-Eve fix for now. |

I'm not sure how much of it's because of the restucturing and how much because doing it also makes sense from an adverticement/hype perspective. There will likely not be anything of substance presented until DUST is realeased. It's the next game planned for CCP and their second videogame release, so they're not going to let anything else take the spotlight. WOD will get the same treatment, but only after it's the next game on the release schedule. |

There's a rumour that there are devs working on WoD.
But they are working under cover and not making any noise to avoid causing any other significant monuments to be blown up.
They did decloak and hand us some hero coded goodies in Crucible but then they recloaked and warped to a deep safe.
And as stated, there was a video at FF-12 indicating that the WoD devs might actually exist, or it was just another scarlet member of the Clupeidae family.

Disk space is so cheap these days, that I've got games like bloodlines and deus ex permanently installed and ready to go. |

Planescape: Torment has propably the best story/characters and is one of my favorites too. The actual gameplay was sort of crappy though. Bloodlines has similarly a good story and great characters, but the actual gameplay isn't all that good. Both are games that are great despite the shortcomings in the gameplay and are still very enjoyable.
I played chrono trigger(SNES version) a year or two ago and it was a well made console RPG with some interesting story twists. I liked it and it's definitely one of the best jap RPGs I've ever played.
I think my favorite company produced RPG is still the baldur's gate trilogy, but that is mainly because it's a trilogy. It's an extremely long and satisfying journey from a pitiful weakling to someone with a real chance of achieving Godhood, and by the time the story ends your companions are truly dear to you. The end also nicely wraps up everything and is satisfying enough, that you don't feel cheated or that your choices along the way didn't matter.

Only the First one :P
The first and only one that exists as far as I'm concerned. I was hoping it could be another BG trilogy or something close to it, but instead BW decided to drag it through mud and drown it in a puddle. Haven't bought a BW game since. |

I don't see what everyone hated about DA2. It was obviously inferior, gameplay wise, to DA1, but it was still better than most other RPGs. CCP Eterne | Community Representative
