Yes, this is us. The camera zooming around is still not performing as we want, but its tweaking values. You can turn it off - selected items menu (top left corner of selected items window) click and untick box. There is also a keyboard shortcut you can set to toggle this on and off.

Cameras, cameras, cameras!
Please please, now that you guys are working on this, can you make a behind-the-ship fixed camera? For long trips (40 jumps, for example) this would be awesome. One that would turn with the ship itself.
Lore-wise you could call it a Geo(ship?)synchronous orbit camera-drone.
Please, put this in? For us?! The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

Chase camera, sweet Jesus on a tricycle, please implement it. Bridge camera maybe, for bigger ships as well? EVE is such a beautiful game, let us watch it with a dynamic it deserves, not only as a field of brackets and a spreadsheet overview. |

"Bridge" camera might be difficult, only if its fixed on an exterior point. Also, since the new cameras can be focused on different parts of the ship, i can't see why this can't be done.
But inside bridge ought to be too hard. Some ships like the Drake have the bridge buried deep inside the ship. (Templar One). The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

Yeah, sticking to the lore might be hard with this one. I was thinking of a compromise: maybe a point on the hull (observation deck?) that oversees a portion of the ship but does not obscure the view. Looking at your ship from a different and unfamiliar angle might be refreshing. |

No problem. I've been asking for this for three years now and this was the first direct reply i got :)
If it's only possible to do it, and you guys are willing to do it then it could be put on next year's summer release for all i care. I'd just love to have it in game whenever possible.
Also, the worst i got from other people was indifference. Almost everyone i talk to would love to have this in game. The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

That would make a lot of people happy, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the nex release.
BTW, I suppose someone already came up with the idea, but how about making a page where everyone can put in their suggestions for next release OR vote for already suggested ones. This way you devs wouldn't have to sift through fourm posts and ask the same questions all over again (or read the same suggestions posted in multiple topics, like this suggestion of making a suggestion page...). I know that this is no easy task (vote exploits etc.) but right now I have the impression that our feedback is like a bunch of children lost in the misty forest screaming and hoping that the forest ranger finds us. You can hear us all right, but have no idea how many children are exactly lost, where are we and who is screaming because they lost their candy and who is being eaten by a bear. |

Please, put this in? For us?! Yes, please! I've wanted this for awhile. It would also be cool if focus effects could be added to the camera as well. Stuff like depth of field and object-based motion blur could add a lot to the overall look of the game, in my opinion.

If you select something close to what you're already looking at the camera does a little jump that would probably benefit from being a little slower and smoother. Say if the new target is within a certain angle form the previous one make the transition at a third of the usual speed or something. |

Okay so the new chase camera is really, really, REALLY cool, seriously, I've wanted these camera options for years.
Although what's on the test server right now is awesome but ideally I'd like to see:
1) The chase cam remembering where you positioned it with the right click tracking. Right now it resets when you warp (and I assume when you dock or jump).
2) Having an option to enable the chase cam to rotate with the ship, so when you see your starship rotate to the left or right almost to 90-¦, the camera would rotate with it, keeping the ship horizontal to the camera (with a few wobbles to indicate movement of course). This clearly shouldn't affect the tactical overlay and such. Would also be amazing for frigates ;)
3) Possibly the option to slide the ship along the Z axis (depth) for all cameras?
4) Permanent FOV option too, please?
5) Now we have a chase cam, a shortcut key for "double click to manual fly" really needs to happen |

CCP Orion wrote:Could you elaborate on 1 and 3?
Sure, what I'm saying in 1) is that with the chase camera I played with, the camera would follow behind your ship at a slight angle above it (which changed when you zoomed in and out). If you used the "right click and hold" to track the camera, the camera would stay facing in the same position while you flew about. When you entered warp it would reset the camera to directly behind the ship, which I found annoying because I tracked the camera upwards, to show more space above my ship and to see more of my ship from above.
3) Is easily explainable by a pretty picture I drew for you. This would enable the current camera view from this to a far cooler this. I had to change the FOV settings to achieve the second picture, settings which I wish were in the options menu and were permanent (more of an eye candy thing though if I'm honest, but very cool eye candy, because an adjustment in the FOV can really give space some depth).
CCP Orion wrote:2) is not really feasible with the current camera tech.
I figured as much, but I can't be the only one would love to see this one day
CCP Orion wrote:Also, what would be the primary use of the chase camera, just manual flight or is there something else?
It definitely has an application with manual flying, I found it a lot easier to keep myself orientated using it. Ideally, for me, I would have it so the chase cam was my default camera mode (instead of the current orbit camera mode) and hovering my mouse over targets in my locked targets list for more than a second would track my camera towards them (with the new tracking cam), then return to the chase cam when my mouse moved elsewhere (similar to how module tooltips operate).
Of course another huge use would simply be for flying in space, such as if you're on autopilot or you have a ton of jumps to go through. Having the chase cam looks much, much nicer when you're flying about compared to the fixed camera we have currently.
In all seriousness though, this is a feature a minority of players have been asking for years now and it would be a dream come true to see the camera iterated on like this after Retribution. |

i wrote it in another feedback thread, but that ne was closed due to a new build and i did not get an answer, so i report my feedback and question here again.
in general the new camera mode is great! simple as that but i noticed some issues.
when going into warp the camera shortly focuses back in your ship just to "remember" it was supposed to track something so it bobs back. overall this results in a quite nasty and jerky camera movement everytime you warp.
secondly, after killing a tracked target, the camera keeps tracking the ghost or something, instead of moving on to the next target in your list (which would my expectation, since the target arrows do the same)
lastly, when im ctrl+click-targeting something (mostly during ratting or missions, when a lot of targets needs to be targeted at once) the camera always starts to track the thing im about to target, because i clicked in in the overview. this is really distrurbing. maybe you could make an exception for the ctrl+click way to target something, so that the camera does not start to track something while im locking all my targets? turning camera tracking on and off everytime i want wo lock new targets would be a very deep papercut... so tldr: normal click -> camera starts to track that object special button + click -> camera does not start to track that object.
special button means: press a and click for align s and click for warp to zero ctrl and click for locking target |

As long this can be defaulted off from every single item I'm happy.
If I end up clicking options from every single individual item or item group to disable this, I'm gonna send you so long hatemail that it will fill your brand new SSD drive faster than you can say OMG.

Can't say I like the chase cam in the current build, it's directly behind the ship and now tracking the the camera by holding down right click works exactly as it does with the orbit cam - letting go of the right click automatically orients the camera to behind the ship again. All you see now is engine flare.
I really liked the chase cam that followed just above and angled slightly down on the ship, with the angle increasing as you zoomed in and out. I also really liked the right click and hold track camera staying in which ever position you left it in when you let go of the right click button. |

This new cam is really sweet for finding out in which direction something you want to warp to is, in fact I have often found myself trying to ALT-CLICK on far away (warpable) things to find out in which direction they are only to get the "Outside Looking Range".
So imho... ALT-CLICKING on a distant object should align your camera there!
I would also like to be able to adjust the camera a bit when its tracking, seems it stops tracking when I try to adjust its position. Sort of how the advance camera setting allows you to do. (But that thing jumps around the place a lot...) |

Tracking is bound to special key "B" (not sure if that's the final mapping, you can also remap as needed), so pressing "B" and clicking a target either in space, or overview should do the trick.

Chase camera is good now just needs a drop down menu access point so people know about it
Could be moved up a little like they poster above posted.
Still needs a way to decide your default range on undock so you do not have to scroll out for the first 3 seconds while in space to see what is around you
and a way to tell what camera mode you are in. |

I tried out the lock camera, really nice!
One question though, sometimes when I hold down the right click button to track the camera, it stays in the position I left it instead of snapping back to whatever the camera is focused on. Is this a bug?
The right click and hold camera is really awesome when it stays in whatever position you leave it in. Is it at all possible to toggle the right click and hold camera to stay in position or snap back to what the camera is focused on? It's incredibly handy to be able to permanently position that camera with the new camera modes
