Also, there's enough material up the wazoo in the expanded universe to cover just about anything, but I guess they'll actually write completely different stuff either way (it's a bit too dark for the target audience). Kids (mostly pre-teen or early teens) were the target audience in 4, or even 5 out of 6 SW movies so far ("The Empire Strikes Back" was more for late-period teenagers, and "The Return of the Jedi" had a bit for each type of audience). http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T T2 BPO poll: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=114789 Buying this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=147098 |

Can't really apply the same standards as we have now. Back in that era The Dark Crystal was a children's movie. "It's no use crying over spilt milk, because all the forces of the universe were bent on spilling it." ~William Maugham |

Can't really apply the same standards as we have now. Back in that era The Dark Crystal was a children's movie. Most of the deaths are non-human, there's a few threats of zombifications and such, and the most potentially disturbing part for a child audience might be the "sucking of life-force" from the podlings. Not exactly the most friendly of movies, but a kid movie nevertheless, and would still easily get a PG rating these days IMO.
In comparison, we have ESB where the main character gets rough-housed by an alien polar bear whose arm he slices off to escape, gets nearly frozen to death, looks pretty beat up after the bacta tank, he faces "force Vader" in the cave, decapitates him, then his own face shows up, a secondary character gets tortured (offscreen, but it gets pretty screamy) then gets frozen in carbonite, then the main character gets increasingly pummeled by Vader culminating in his hand getting sliced off and almost dying again. I'd say it's significantly more frightening to a younger audience. The key being all that bad stuff happens to the character they're most likely to identify with and his friends. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T T2 BPO poll: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=114789 Buying this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=147098 |

The new Animated Clone Wars Series is way worse then that and it comes on at 9 AM on kids networks.
I remember one episode they are desperately looking for a missing Jedi and at the end they find him. Next episode he is tortured to death in the first 3 minutes and they are like find me another Jedi.
It is pretty good. |

First time watching it, my sister lost it when Olgra took out her eyeball. My parents had to stop the movie. I remember what affected me the most was the creepy bird guy losing his shell in that weird ceremony and being cast out.
There's all kinds of dark and crazy things in it. Kind of like Grimms' Fairy Tales. Nowadays we give simple minded garbage like toy story or cars to the same age group.
edit: This made me laugh.

I don't know what's that, but when I was a kid, the following were children's movies: Terminator 2 Predator Commando Robocop Star Wars 4-6 A bunch of washed down Alien-ripoffs for the children (Alien was a freaking horror movie to me when I was like 10) Rambo Indiana Jones E.T the extraterrestrial was a movie for special kids, just like SW ep1

Ohhhh that BURNS on the Simon West remark hahahaha ...
Obviously, they will end up grabbing one of those lame wannabe directors that will do it for cheap or one of those greedy ones that will do it for the money, in the end we will get a stripped down version of LOLWTFery of a movie that will end up as something else but star wars.
Considering the insane amount of lore just starting to happen after the battle of Endor and the million subplots that were happening before it that were added later, we have a crystalized world that will end up displeasing everyone.
I highly doubt the movie will be good for ANY segment at all. Kids being kids these days pumped up with Spongebob madness and all and teens more focused on sparkly vampires and being hungry. Adults will remember the first movies and ederly will just be wondering if they will still be alive tomorrow.
But then again, who knows? Perhaps it will be a good one ... we just have to wait
Edit: After talking to some friends we came to the conclusion that Episode 7 will be about a family, that being different will try to leave a mark on the world, their little world by being themselves despite their dfifferences (the force) , the kids will face loss, anguish and social stigma at being who they are, will try to move along and fit in, but will outcasts, the prime villain will be a classic tragic figure that is good in the inside but got lost on following the rules because all he needed was love. Many hugs, cries and tears plus dramatic losses will alter the movie throughout but in the end FAMILY and FRIENDS will be the base for a cheerful future despite adversity.
Hmmm ... yeah, Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 allright. Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

Hmmm ... yeah, Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 allright. Just with Lightsaber Grandpa (Mark Hamill), who is not that much into **** but perhaps he will be broody and will teach the kids that eating ice cream is good as their parents are stuck up. I guess there will be a trash bin that will endanger the lives of the kids in a climactic finale where family love between estranged siblings will save the day ... and their relationship. One of the kids will be weird because hes a bit of a darksider and prone to anger btw which will be his colorblindedness.
So wrong.
It'll be some kind of lost cause story - where one of the main characters is a lost cause and we believe over the course of 3 films they will find themselves, but won't - after 13 thousand light-saber fights to pad out the running time.
What I'm thinking of more is the score. John Williams again? How about someone new? He is over 80 years old now, I kinda think he's done his bit for king and country.

Possibly, but I think that as Disney now own the rights to the merchandising of Star Wars, they have probably already pulled in enough cash to to fund the making of a film.
At least The Incredibles had a good story, even if toys were sold off of it, it certainly didn't affect the movie - in fact they probably made more from the movie than the toys.
The Matrix had toys ffs, does that make it a bad film?
CCP sell EVE models - does that make EVE a bad computer game?
Think about it before you reply.

AK For those who don't know history, Lucas pioneering making big bucks off of merchandising. When selling Star Wars to the studios, Lucas made sure that he had exclusive merchandising rights to Star Wars and the movie execs didn't care. No movie exec will make that mistake again.

I blame it on poor ship design. They got what they deserve because they stuck the ships reactor right there in the aircraft maintenance bay completely unshielded. For the best protection that thing should have been in the middle of the ball. Quite frankly I'm surprised those ships weren't recalled considering that one of their own could accidentally fly into that reactor on any given day. |
