Just a concept I'm trying to grasp. I don't know too much about the production/research aspect of the game so I'm interested in figuring this out.
The general feel that I get is that OBP are like priceless treasures, esp for Tech 2 items. I also know you can make copies. I'm just wondering why OBP are considered so valuable. Here is my current theory on how things work.
Whoever has the OBP controls the tech. You can make copies of the OBP but you can't make copies from the copies, only produce goods over and over again from it.
For tech2 since this seems to be getting slowly "phased in" through agents, I would imagine this is even more important, since if only one corp has a OBP for a tech 2 item, they would want to keep it to themselves to get an edge over everyone else.
How research fits into this I have no idea. I mean, there doesn't seem much to actually "research" You can't mess with blueprints or create something new or anything like that, so as far as I can tell "research" seems to boil down to scanning an OBP and printing out a copy. Basically, an "offical copy machine" as it were.
Anyone care to shed some light on this? ------------------------------------------- "What's it like being a turtle?" "It's a lot like being a walking house that eats lettuce." (Hurray temp sig!) |

While not a industrial expert, I'll try to explain:
Blueprint Originals:
These blueprints can be used to make an unlimited number of items. You can also copy them an unlimited nuber of times.
TL1 BPOs can be bought off the market, they are fairly expensive about 10 times the value of the item they produce I think.
TL2 BPOs are only avaliable through research agents, they are some of the most expensive items on the game.
Blueprint Copies
These cannot be copied and have limited runs, they can only produce a limited number of items.
Rise of Valhalla is now recruiting. We are looking for players of any level of experience. Please contact me or SSJ2VEGETA |

Copys: Comes from an Original BPO .. it has a limited Amount or production runs .. nothing more you can do with it .. end of story
Originals: 1. You can make Copys via Research 2. You can research the BPO for Material efficence: In Practice this means it cost less to produce a item from this BPO ( material wise ) 3. You can research the Production time: In Practice the item produced from this BPO takes less time to be build 4. If you make a copy of a pre-researched BPO it has the same attributes as the researched BPO: In Practice the copy is more valuable because of 2. and 3.
Hope i could make myself understood, as english is not my first language
