When you divide 1337 into half you get 13. So the noobs invented this whole 'unlucky thing' to feel better. (13+37) / 1/2 * 13 + 37 = 1337 See, it all makes sense now. |

I think it goes all the way back to the Zoroastrians of Babylon or Sumeria. The guys who invented Western astrology. They disliked the number 13 so much that they threw one of the signs of the zodiac out, so they had an even 12. The trashed one was shaman tearing a snake in half. Kid:-á I wish we had time to bury them fellas. Josey Wales:-á To hell with them fellas. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms.

37 is just another half that you get after dividing 1337 into half.
1337 divide into half = = 13|37 = = 13...|...37 = = 13........|.......37 = = 13.......................37 one half.................another half
That's how you get 37 |

Actually predates that.
The 13th zodiacal sign Ophiuchus was so important someone went through the trouble of erasing it from history for centuries. And if you accept the biblical tale of the 12 disciples actually being an allegory for the 12 signs of the Zodiac, you'll maybe start to see where something else has been hidden.
The Knights Templar seemed to have stumbled on such knowledge, and chances are the date they were executed by the Roman Catholic Church wasn't selected at random. "It's no use crying over spilt milk, because all the forces of the universe were bent on spilling it." ~William Maugham |

Or to look at it another way, 12 disciplines were chosen to fit into the local numerological preferences. The numbers 3, 7, 12 and 40 appear a lot in the Old Testament. For example, the 12 Tribes of Israel. |

For example, the 12 Tribes of Israel. If I remember my studies correctly...:
- 3 - Used to denote special emphasis or intensity
- 7 - Heavenly completion or perfection (the number 6 falls short of that, and repeated three times means intense imperfection, not evil)
- 12 - A balanced arrangement (usually of people), 12 tribes, 12 apostles...
- 40 - A period of judgment or punishment, Israelites were made to wander for 40 years, Nineveh given 40 days to repent
13 would have represented imbalance, although the number itself is not presented in a symbolic manner in the Bible (that I recall). So not sure where that comes from. |

There's nothing bad or evil about number 13 here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Significance_of_numbers_of_Judaism so it's likely it has nothing to do with Israel. |
