How much would you pay?
That's the question that MMO's ask themselves when pricing thier products. How much is what they are provding worth to you on a monthly basis. This is how they pay investors and attract new venture capital for expansions etc. But if they have 50,000 active accounts and they are not selling expansions (CCP 4tw!) what else could they do to increase thier revenue stream in order to fund game improvements?
Let's say for an example, how much would you pay if for 30 days you could double the training speed on one character per account. That's right. For one billing cycle your training speed is doubled from your current base rate. At the end of the cycle (assuming you don't pay it again) your training speed drops back down to normal. Would you pay:
A- 5 extra Euros a month? B- 10 extra Euros a month? C- 15 extra Euros a month?
With the sheer number of skills possible to be trained running out them is not really an issue tbh.
Please start every reply by answering A, B, or C then your response. I am curious to how much extra a month CCP could be generating if such an option existed. If you have any suggestions that CCP could implement to generate extra operating capital please list that as well. I think this would also help the newbies as @ double the training speed you could get a lot of rank 4 skills in one billing cycle.
On a personal note, I would happily pay an extra 15 Euros a month (double standard subscription) for twice the training speed.

Such an option is the same thing as CCP offering ISK for $. Since this is a game, thats pretty much cheating. If you dad owns an oil well, you win the game. No thanks.
Also CCP is privately owned and I don't think they have any financial problems. -

from what I've heard, that when they reached the 50.000 active accounts they reached and passed point zero, as they make enough money to pay from whatever loans they might have taken while making eve, and have enough for the running cost of tranq, and pay for the CCP staff. so I dont think they are having money issues, with the eve store and extra account thingie (like switching character portraits and moving characters) providing them with some extra revenue besides the active accounts. ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end.

AFAIK:
CCP recently finished paying off debts from production costs.
Also, people need to understand that in this game there will be no ingame advantages provided for RL cash, this game isn't just something CCP did for money - its a career dream for them. I know at least in their position, I wouldn't ruin it for a few extra quid. --------

What you are trying to say is that CCP recently passed it's break-even point for EVE.

agreed stupid idea - they could charge $2 extra for each of the 2 extra alts but as far as extra $ for ingame advantages - 0% support from the player base.
THey recently stated they have reached nearly 60,000 players - with an extra 10,000 players surley profits would now be coming in thick and fast.
The main thing we can do is to get into any US based game forum sites and lightly promote eve online and help get players in = if you make a great game they will ocme and eve is doing that in bucket loads, extra cash now will simply allow some cash at bank and perhaps quicker upgrading of their backend technology and some more staff perhaps to help with programming and moving the game forward.

Don't worry. Before you know it you'll be gaining SP by doing agent missions or participating in official GMsomethingorotherdepartment led events or some-at. Actually, the latter might be cool..

I know what I'd pay for. CCP to host forums etc for corps. ú5 per month for the basic, no firlls IGB compatible thingy, and ú20 to let you run your own basic forum/script. IE, so peeps could run killboards, etc. ++++++++++++++++++++ CEO of the Space Munchkins. Fear my kneepads of allure!

This just seems like yet another case of someone trying to give new players/characters a training advantage that wasn't available for the veterans. People seem to be forgetting that being able to fly the nice big ships and play with the nice expensive pretty tech 2 toys should be a priviledge that is earned, not just handed to you easily. ___winterblink/warp_drive_active/eve_nature_vraie// |

a better idea would be maybe be:
$10 to allow training of 2 chars on 1 account $20 and u can train all at the same time
As for the original suggestion, paying $$ for ingame advantages is stupid. Im not rich and would never spend money on advancing my character other than my monthly subscription (ebayers 4tl)

I would quit the game the instant the people who pay the most money get the best characters. Something of that nature would just offend my sense of fairness so deeply that none of the other benefits of the game could possibly keep me interested.

iirc UO allowed you to purchase something like a 'power start' character, with certain attributes already trained to a moderate level - to avoid some of the 'grind'. It would be something comparable to paying $40 for a char with learning skills , frig, cruiser and some gunnery @ lvl 4 perhaps.
Not sure how I'd feel about that in eve, I think it would be a shame fo new players to lose that 'bewildered newbie' period.

Yeah cause hosting even more content on tranq or a cluster on the same connection would be a good idea
Oh and the IGB is absolutley horrible. --------------------------------------------------

The Marketing department is always on the look-out for different ideas to increase the revenue stream, but not at the expense of the game. CCP will not sell "value added services" that have a direct impact on the game, such as ISK (or ships, modules, BPs, in-game items) for RL cash, accelerated skill training, etc.

You could make a small fortunte off the minmatar players if you showed TomB being brutally beaten with a series of bats (nerf optional).

I would buy a patch to completely remove missile and drone models.
I'd rather see a little X flying around at 25 FPS then a fully detailed drone which looks like a little X flying around at 5 FPS.

This guy has the right idea. Design a IGB compatible Forum and offer it to your subscribers, CCP. I am sure lots of corps of all sizes would be happy to pay for that service. Communication within a corp shouldnt have to be dependent on OOG software.

Christ, look at this forum. It doesnt even have a damned search option.
CCP can keep their low-quality forums. I'll take vBulletin, thank you.

Thay could also provide services such as Teamspeak hosting, with eve branding.
Im sure people would pay for this and CCP must have access to server space -----------------------------------------------

(D) How about a pay as you go search feature on this forum, it would kill 2 birds with 1 monetary unit of your choice.
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

Some slightly mad ideas here.
Personally I would pay $10 for a new haircut though, you know one that makes me look relatively normal, not this crappy grade 1 or the other "old man" side parting.

There already is a big time way for people to get direct gameplay advantage from $$$, and that's with multiple accounts.
