Does someone have an existing or available via internet a data dump of the X,Y,Z galactic coordinates of the New Eden Systems? It would be interesting to model the Eve Cluster out of game using some real science visualization tools. |

Allow me to attempt to clarify Torvin Yulus's latest post of fine anti-goon propaganda.

It's a symbolic algebra system for plotting and integrating really nasty integrals and stuff. They made us use it in Calculus for math lab projects but I think that real engineers use it too. Don't quote me on that.
Or he could be talking about Maple Story. But this one seems to make sense. |

I don't see what being a Goon has to do with the OP... You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |

Does anything that pubby says make sense? Did you read his story about 2015? |

This.
You may also want to look around the Eve Development Network site, which contains tons of useful resources for people building 3rd party utilities for Eve. ISD LackOfFaith Ensign Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

You don't always fail on the Forums, but when you do it's funny.
<--- Cry Havoc and you don't EVEN know who we were
I use Matlab, but yes Maple would work too.

http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/dump/inferno12/mapSolarSystems.xls.bz2 should do you.
7zip will open the bz2.
The numbers are /big/. Keep that in mind. You'll probably want to scale them down to make them sensible. Maple sucks. It's falling behind in features and its Java interface is an abomination. The only reason to use it over Mathematica is the pricing model for students - Maple is a one time fee whereas Mathematica charges per year or semester.
Anyways, the "goonie" part is amusing in this context as goons maintain probably the best mapping tool for EVE (GARPA Topographical Survey). I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

I've been playing a bit with getting a starmap in three.js.
https://github.com/fuzzysteve/ThreeJs-starmap/blob/master/constellation.html
is the basic form.
http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/starmap/constellation.html for a working example.
To fit everything into a box of a specific size:
Get your max and min for X, Y and Z (across all the stars you're interested in).
subtract the min for each from all coordinates.
Divide each bit of each coordinate by Max - min. Multiply it by the size of the box.
