I'm very aware this is a website that needs lots of care to get it up to standard, both in terms of these annoying usage issues and with some of the static content (e.g. the Item Database) currently housed there. Also, please see this news item in case you're confused why we just reverted back to the old one until next week. Please feel free to file bug reports on exact issues you encounter. Those get filtered to us and we can better act on them.
The issue is the difference between feature request changes and bugs. Are functionality issues bugs.
I was at the web site round table two fanfests ago and was expecting some improvement in article structure and usability by now. O well
Has the future look and functionality: ie how DB entries and player generated content will be split but still linked, been selected? So we can have a forum conversation about it before you spend your time coding it. |

In fact, it was the dev update in this thread that lead to the discovery of the issue, as I wanted to see for myself wether the changes had any impact on the bug this thread is about, and then stumbled on the potential info leak on Evelopedia.
Because I suspect that the issue may have something to with the bug in this thead, I will wait for the new version of evelopedia before I can make a final judgement about the bug and the "fix" but in the version that is now down, but it was actually worse because now my username seemed to now be my alt character permanently, even though I did most edits with my main. Good call. Thanks.
I was adding DB stubs when they turned it off with no warning. lol |

The EVElopedia code was actually being developed and maintained by an outsourced company up until recently. This is the first time we have it now 100% in house and under both our product direction and code control. It's been a bit of a semi-orderly (and semi not) mess, it will be that way for another while, but I really, really, really want to tackle this whole thing and find better solutions for a pretty big portion of the content on there.
Future is not fully decided, but I have high level ideas and plans. So yep - thank you for reminding me people do care and would like to have input into the initial discussion! :)

Since the bug reporting system is down for a couple weeks where do you want the bug reports.
Currently being logged in on the forums and using the Evelopedia drop down link does not log you in.

So..............
The lack of absolutely anything happening to EVElopedia code in over two years is because of "another" company?

Until recently I had no problems with the wiki page. Today I saw that I missed the edit button. I can't find it anywhere anymore and I feel lonely without it :(
Also the Special:Preferances page isnt loading for me anymore Chrome Error 310: (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS). CONCORD Profile: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Ignis_Draconis |

How come the Evelopedia didn't just draw information directly from the APIs? Is this a limitation of Wiki type applications or something?
Would be cool to have up to date information, especially for BPs when we're planning outside of game. :-) |

Any update on this? I'd really like to be able to edit my own user page, but I'm unable to because I can't switch to this character in Evelopedia. Bio and writing |

Since it's apparently impossible to do anything with Evelopedia, as far as creating/editing content is concerned, could you at least PLEASE post something to that effect rather than having us waste our time attempting to do so?
Seriously, creating a simple wiki page shouldn't be this complex! If something's horribly broken just tell us that. I wasted an hour searching for information on why I couldn't get logged in to create a page before finding this thread. I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused. |

They have cycled the new one twice with out fixing the SSO bug that was found because of the bug report interface rewrite they do not have time to work on the wiki currently any edits that are done on this version will be copied over to the new SSO version hopefull all the data tags i added to the SSO will not be lossed |

We were still not satisfied with the new version, so yes we unfortunately had to roll back a second time. It's in much better shape now and we're also doing additional, more intensive QA on it as well, to be sure. Third times a charm right? ;)
Yes, we're also working on the new bug reporting feature, and have just wrapped up the Alliance Tournament web pages as well. Normally this wouldn't cause this current delay for the wiki deployment, however it's summer vacation time here in Iceland so we have a few people that we need to handle all this currently on vacation.
Again, really sorry about the delays! I understand how frustrating the current wiki is at the moment. And don't worry, any edits you make on the current version will be carried over to the new one.
Thanks!

With the new version up the above question still stands and I got a new issue.
I do not want to have to place all the stubs that I edited in placed again.
If i logged in to the dust forums after I log in to the eve forums i cant log in because SSO only acknowledges the dust forums after I log in there. |
