I'm finally trying to run two accounts simultaneously on the same machine, but...
As soon as a star gets into view in either of the clients, the other one goes pop. Obviously, the problem is caused by "sun occluded by ships" feature - both clients run perfectly well together having it disabled.
BUT! The feature randomly turns itself on when jumping between systems or undocking! Despite the checkbox being unchecked in the preferences! I mean ... okay ... but how can I turn it off ... like ... *permanently* !?
Please?

do you start 2 clients from 1 Instalation folder? Or do you have 2 instalations ??
( just like you have if you are on the test server )
If you start 2 sessions out of 1 folder my idea is that you try 2 instalation dir .. Its just an tought...

I run my accounts from their own installs to keep the clients 'tidy' so to speak.
The sun occluded problem was known in the beginning of the game to cause problems with multiple accounts, so it was always recommended to turn it off while running more than one instance of Eve.
The problem now is that the switch for Sun Occlusion seems to work randomly.
All my installs of Eve have this option turned off, ive never used it since i heard about the problem, so it should be be cached anywhere. its almost as if the client randomly forgets to turn it off

Same as Abigail. Clean installations in separate places. Besides the problem is not when running multiple clients. The "sun occluded" option is crazy when runnin a single client as well. Go figure!
Normally you don't even realise it, *until* you try running two clients, in which case it manifests itself by popping one of them.

Same here but I seem to have a temporary respite by making the prefis.ini read only? Hope this helps but it may just be another bug fix for a bug fix if you see what I mean.
Don't try to be a great man, just be a man and let history make it's own judgements.

open up the prefs.ini file and set it manually to off sunOcclusion=0 (find the line, change it from a 1 to 0)
Then load up the game - DO NOT CHANGE the setting in game. (it will start changing like you have it now again).

Bah ... The option still turns on sometimes, despite correct values being put into the prefs.ini file.
But I've upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers, and the "sun occlusion" stopped crashing the client.
I'm having slightly lower FPS readouts though.
