I'd have to go with Trinity. The game looked soooo much better after that expansion. It did have the boot.ini issue for some, and that's when CCP really ramped up their QA dept. Trinity was also around the time they started dumping more money into server infrastructure. |

Are people intentionally confusing what features came with what expansions in here?
To me, Dominion has been the most influential expansion. The autocannon changes and faction ship changes changed the subcap field completely.
The buffed supercarriers and titans became a goal that pretty much every nullsec player aspired to, rather than expensive toys that scaled badly.
The sov mechanic changes destroyed several major alliances and completely changed the PVE dynamic in sov space.
Dominion truly did have far-reaching effects. |

Trinity for me. It was huge. New graphics plus five new ship types added (ewar, heavy dictors, black ops, marauders and jump freighters?), plus a bunch of other stuff. Then again, if I remember right, it's also the same patch that introduced the drone bandwidth and that's the point where drone users started to get treated as red-headed stepchildren. So, it was not roses.
For potential, an honorary mention goes to Incarna. But it was bungled, so it's not my first choice. Definitely had the most potential though, as an expansion, after Trinity.
Other, more recent expansions? Nice, but not for everyone. Inferno did nothing for someone not at all interested in FW. Retribution won't do a thing for someone living in a WH (except some minor stuff). And so on. Trinity, by comparison, affected everyone, in every facet of the game, and Incarna had the potential to do the same. |

My favorite expansion was my first expansion, Apocrypha. Nothing since it has brought me the same level of excitement nor the same sense of new content. Heck in comparison a good number of expansions have felt like glorified patches.
I wonder will I see it's like again? Most likely not. |

Trinity and Apocrypha.
Trinity for the new graphic engine, I remember the visual impact was awesome Apocrypha for the brand new unknow feeling.
Also Trinity, on a first release had a nice side feauture: during the isntallation it deleted the boot.ini file so people wasn't able to reboot their PC again. I survived cause i think I was at work so couldnt isntall it immediaytly, but reading EvE forums in those hours was very fun :)

Id have to say Trinity, even though I never saw the actual patch day and never experienced the game previous to Trinity. I believe that was the expansion that made the game available on the Macintosh, and lead to me finding it. I googled "multiplayer game macintosh" and a news item came up that Eve was now available for the mac. So I checked it out, and have stayed with it ever since. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Apocrypha if you mean favorite.
Everything that was said about the expansion is why it was great, but also during the 8-10 hour downtime CCP had something unique. They created an event that spawned the wormholes, beginning at Seyllin (sp?) and had "news updates" over the course of the day.
I remember excitedly checking every few minutes for an update on the events.

Trinity and Apocrypha. The difference, graphics wise, before and after, were stunning and the game looked gorgeous. I remember seeing the new interiors for Amarr stations and being gobsmacked. Granted, Crysis (I think) had just come out, so that was a banner year for video game graphics.
Wormholes and T3s were also a huge addition to the game. First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire. |

Been here since apcrypha. Loved crucible for the tier 3 battlecruisers. Fighting against them for the first time in now outdated doctrines brought home their power. Sniper tier 3 fleets represent a great test of skill and control as an fc. Few better feelings than when you nail it. I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance. |

definitely Apocrypha, as it was the most content-rich expansion in the last 5 years. one of the reasons i keep subed to this game is the hope that CCP will pull-off another expansion of this caliber in the near future. however if the last few patches, erm... expansions, are any indication, it looks like that probability is getting smaller and smaller... one can only hope. |

Red Moon Rising, was the best and worst. Brought a lot of flavor to the game adding a lot of new ships and roles. The worst part about that expansion was capitals.

Apocrypha.
Exciting features, lots of build-up, nice lore and the game performed above and beyond ( 1000 man lag-free 0.0 sov fights with no TiDi feature ).
Ironically, CCP saw it as their worst expansion and went to great lengths to explain to us that we would never see a similar expansion. Were they saw resource bloat and the fake scrum diamond shine, players saw a great expansion :(
Then came Dominion and what eventually turned into the 0.0 snooze-fest we have now started, most expansions have been more maintenance than true expansions since then.
To be fair, people asked for iteration over new shinies. I guess we should be happy CCP listened |

This. All of my this. I was so excited when it happened. I was like "YES! STORY LINE! FINALLY!!!"
I hope another expansion comes out like this with one giant server wide in-game event we can all take part in...like the sleepers finally shoving a cap fleet into Dodixie or Rens or Pator or Amarr Prime or something.

Revelations II, it was the last expansion before trinity and it introduced the new battlecruisers, Hurricane, Myrmidon (which had 5 heavies and was massively OP), Harbinger and Drake.
It was before they changed the graphics in trinity, the old client was smooth, and I really miss it, I think it looked way better than eve does now. It was also before the power creep had set in too badly. |

Seriously? No, CCP, Apocrypha was good. Though honestly, I really would not want a massive Apocrypha-style expansion every year. It would be too much. Things need to be tinkered and refined for a while. Don't want a massive overhaul every 6 months. Imagine in RL if someone brought you an awesome new sports car tomorrow, how awesome would that be. But then imagine if they brought you an awesome new sports car every week--you'd soon get glutted with sports cars and jaded by the novelty.
I noticed that a lot of people began playing during Apocrypha like me. I suspect CCP must have branched off into new or more aggressive advertising methods that year, because I never heard of Eve prior to that. In my case..I was watching a lot of Battlestar Galactica in early 2009. Shortly after that, context-dependent adverts started showing up for this shiny-looking game called Eve on my Facebook page. I remember thinking, "yeah, if the game actually looked like that I'd play it all the time".
Then for the hell of it I logged on and whispered, "Oh....my god" |

I would have to say Trinity. It was quite a day of wow look at that. One where you got into every ship you had just to see how different it looked. Actually, all the visual expansions were my favorites. The new portrait generator was loads of fun to play with. And when the new nebulae came into the game. Even though I really care more and post more about fixing broken or imbalanced gameplay, I have to admit I'm a sucker for new shiney visual stuff.
BTW, I used to know with the old eve-o website how to access all the old trailers back to the beginning. Now it seems the only videos you can see are the most recent ones. Is there an archive link so I can see red moon rising and all that stuff back to the beginning? |

I agree, I grew up in a WH. The one thing I'd like to see is the ability to swap out subsystems in strategic cruisers at a POS station...either with a ship maintenance array, or if some think that's unrealistic, then with a medium ship assembly array. Either way, it should be possible, and would be more consistent with the original idea of T3 ship flexibility.
Sure I'd love it if I could harvest moon goo, but I imagine that'd flood the market with product and mess up that sector of the economy, so I won't be greedy. |
