Wine is the "stuff" you "wrap" eve in so it thinks it is running in windows while it is running on linux, basically. You got even the command line to type in to get it in the tutorial. |

I just got a faint hope that you are not a troll..... STOP POSTING THAT MUCH ! You're just like a kid with ADD pulling some adult's sleeve ! Did you even read the post i linked to you ? Did you even try doing something by yourself without being breastfed by others ? Linux community is always ready to help newbies, but you, sir, look like too much of a pain for someone to help you. |

Wow. and I thought goons were the trolls.
If you want to install eve on a fresh ubuntu box, run this:
Quote: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine sudo aptitude update #sudo aptitude remove wine wine1.2 wine1.3 wine1.4 wine1.5 sudo aptitude install wine1.5 winetricks mkdir -p ~/bin echo '/usr/bin/env WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine" DISPLAY=":0.0" /usr/bin/aoss wine explorer /desktop=eve1,1024x768 "C:\Games\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"' >~/bin/eve1 echo '/usr/bin/env WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine" DISPLAY=":0.0" /usr/bin/aoss wine explorer /desktop=eve2,1024x768 "C:\Games\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"' >~/bin/eve2 echo '/usr/bin/env WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.wine" DISPLAY=":0.0" /usr/bin/aoss wine explorer /desktop=eve3,1024x768 "C:\Games\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"' >~/bin/eve3 echo Run 'eve1' to run your first instance of eve.
Then navigate to where you downloaded eve using a file manager, and run it. Then, to run eve, just type 'eve1'. |

Yeah I've done tho commands and I'm getting the feeling that theres some step here you've assumed we've (total linux noobs) done or understand that we don't or haven't. I'm Day Three on this OS if that helps. |

Okay, what are the results? If you are asking for help, you have to put where it's failing. |

Maybe that person doesn't have aptitude? In which case just change out the lines that say >sudo aptitude with >sudo apt-get and try that. |
