This bounty system is better than the old one, but still not as good as it should be. Its better putting a bounty on a corporation/alliance than an individual, because alliances and corps can be war decced. Individual's should really have a killright created when you put a bounty on them, which then can be bought, multiple times by various people so you can have multiple bounty hunters after one target. Once a bounty hunter kills the guy/gal, the other killrights are extinguished. Like all killrights, they would be time limited.
People shouldn't have a message warning them of a bounty being placed on them [star wars galaxies bounty hunting was a better feature than eves bounty hunting], they should just look at their character portrait sometime. The CCP of today, just don't seem to 'get' EvE as they used to.
Oh and i'll be reserving my isk for corps mainly atm. |

this is quite wrong, if i place a bounty of 100 mil on you, you will have to loose 500 mil worth of ships/modules/implants till bounty pool is emptied
And THAT is the funny about this. btw. I reserve nowerdays 20% of all income for coming bounty :) So if some idiot kills me while I'm in belt. I put a price on his head. So each time he pop .. bounty for the hunter. And if I remember correctly, if his pod is destroyed another *tshing* for the hunter. The loss for the idiot .. well a lost ship, equipment, implants and clone or maybe even SP :)

Sarmea Moon wrote:Sheynan wrote:Sarmea Moon wrote:I'm confused. Didn't you use to be able to put bounties on anyone, anyways? Pod them, get paid. Bounty high enough, pod self with alt or corpie, get paid.
Now the bounty pays based on the price of the ship you're flying, so much less paid. Still no kill rights, still have to be high sec ganked. Now gankers get paid 10% more than they did before. *shrug* That's assuming the corp doesn't take the day to have alts blow them up in frigs/cruisers a few times to collect all the cash. 10% more is usually bigger than the profit margin between buy price and insurance payout for T1 hulls.
Care to clear up my confusion? Why is the concept of loss value so difficult that it has to be explained in every bounty thread ? You get 20% of (destroyed ship value + destroyed module value - insurance value) given the bounty is high enough to cover this sum. My point is- the sky is not falling. If it were, I'd be the first one on the forums posting pictures of me and my steel rebar and concrete reinforced umbrella. There isn't a real difference between this and the old bounty system, except your alt has to blow you up a few more times to get the payout. It's a good way to get rid of mods that are high value to the system, but don't actually sell. With so many T1 hulls selling for just above refine value you can make cash getting rid of a big bounty on yourself. The size of the bounty necessary to get a ganker off his butt to come after you is so high you'd want to collect it on yourself (and you prolly did something to deserve a mulitbillion bounty). Still not seeing the fluffy cloudy bits on my pants.
Thats the reason why we will preferable gank T2 vessels (hf with insuring a Hulk).

Your forgetting that the victim can insure his or her ship. That coupled with using an alt which will collect the bounty means only 10% is lost by the victim....then you also have salvage too. |

I'm still a bit confused about the new bounty system. Am i right i thinking that slapping a bounty on someone doesn't create a killright? Or does it make anyone able to take a shot? Take the OP for example, willing to blow 10billion on miners. I'm assuming they're all highsec carebears, probably never done any PvP in their life, and fairly unlikely to have generated any killrights. Does this mean that they're still protected by CONCORD, and not just free game to anyone wanting to get a slice of their epic bounty?
Obviously, an epic bounty would futher encourage cowardly suicide ganking. Is this what the OP is getting at here?
Personally, i plan to spend about a billion spread across various people that have wronged me in the past. They tasked me, and i shall have them! |

That is correct a bounty doesn't give someone a kill right. Killing a person in highsec with a bounty on thier head without killrights will still result in concord killing the offender.
CCPs intent for bounty system was for people to place bountys on the head of a person that killed them & have kill rights on the person or to bounty a person that is in low/null where there is no concord interaction. |

i dont argue with the insurance, just that you said that the pilot that is putting the bounty burns a lot more isk that the person with bounty on his head, which is not true
Ok lets say Player A places 100m bounty on player B
Player B Insures a T1 Battleship 100m 70% insurance payout and uses Alt C engages player B (Mutually no concord) Player B Collectes 70% 70m insurance. Alt C collects 20% 20M (Alt C gives player B 20m) Player B Has 70m Insurance + 20m 90m but loses 100m (-10m)
Bounty is 1/5th gone. so 10mx5 = 50m
So player A Loses 100m placing bounty. Player B Loses 50m clearing bounty.
Still 2:1 ratio
This also does not take into account differences in insurance payouts due to incorrect pricing of the ship & salvage. |

This is going to also be problematic for people flying high value ships, Jump Freighters, Freighters, Orcas, Faction ships, Capital ships etc as well as pods.
What I predict to happen:
1 People will stop using expensive implants. 2 People will stop using expensive T2 mining barges in favor of low value ships. *3 Prices of ice and ore will climb along with the value of T1 ships while the value of T2 ships will drop. 4 Plex prices will increase to cover the increase in ship costs. 5 Bounty system will be used to grief miners, haulers, mission pilots, sub+capital ship pilots using expensive ships. 6 There will be a huge increase in corp spys and AWOXing.
*Ore prices will climb due to miners quitting, downgrading to lower yeilds and bots being popped & banned. As well as freighters carrying minerals to trade hubs being blown up.
I'm sure there is many more creative things i can't think of atm. |

hopefully .... on the other hand good corps which are protecting their miners and frighters might become winners. So everything is ok. One vote for 'good job done CCP' Then again ... with the bounty system you can now place bounties on entire alliances. So going through nullSec popping some ships might be a good idea .. at least better then before and hopefully the gankers are leaving highSec to the pve dwellers in search for better profit. May the wars begin :) |

Update: Today I have placed 40M bounties on 43 miners mining in Kamio without a New Order mining permit. One miner saw the light and purchased a mining permit. No doubt the success ratio will rise as miners get more familiar with this new reality.
(One miner twice tried to remove the bounty himself, claiming 95.273 ISK and 30.089 ISK respectively; at that pace it'll be a while before the 40M bounty is cleared.) Repent what's past; avoid what is to come.
