Pretty cool. It would be interesting if we got some Chronicles as complete comics rather than text. Not that I'm saying that text is bad, or anything... |

So are you guys using the anti-botting tools to detect multiple accounts in order to enforce the time-limits imposed by the Chinese government, or are you just 'keeping it to single accounts'? lol Nyan |

On topic, this was a pretty cool read. I had also been wondering at the crazy high pop counts on Serenity over the last few months, and I'm psyched to hear that this project has gone so well for you guys. I'd still love to see the Chinese play with the rest of us some day, but as others were saying, that's unlikely with their current political system.

As a long time eve player, about to hit my 9th year of eve, i'll reply to a few of the comments.
1) Serenity was made separate due to the rules and regulations in china. Its so it can be monitored by the gov and setup so the culture of china is represented is my guess.
2) There has never been a link between TQ and Serenity.
3) no you can not connect to it from outside china. Has to do with the regulations and things. My guess is they don;t with to have outside influences or something.
Now then, the only thing i really have ever wanted to see, and this was shown at the i think it was the 05 or the 06 fan fest was an alliance territory map. I have always been interested to see what alliances there are and what they control, i also offtened wondered if the Chinese all female alliance had more space then the other ones did (yes at the time of that fan fest the Chinese players gave a female alliance space) I honestly would love more dev blogs about the serenity players and there political battles. Its what makes this game so interesting. |

Reicine Ceer wrote:I distinctly recall a long jaunt i took in a stealth bomber once, and flying through Russian territory was actually really cool. I'd occasionally wave in local, after many systems with only myself and my single Tourist in the cargohold (this is for luck) to keep me company. What i got back were lines of utter nonsense. Russian! Cool cyrillic writing! What was it they were saying to me? Was it a greeting? Some sort of warning? I don't know! But it was amazing. The last time I was in a system where local was full of Cyrillic text, I made a joke, In Dutch. 'Ik begrijp niks van wat jullie zeggen, dus ben ik het er helemaal mee eens...;-)' (I don't understand a word of what you are saying, so I wholeheartedly agree). I got a puzzled reaction, in English, and I explained the joke in response. They got it, we had a good laugh and we kept on chatting for at least an hour. All the while they where hunting me down off course, they got the joke but not me....
On topic, I think it's a pity actually that because of regulations CCP has to have a separate server for the Chinese to play on. I wouldn't mind having the Chinese on TQ (more people on TQ=better). But that's RL. And because that fact cannot be changed by CCP, I think that from a business point of view it's a good thing to also have an EvE server in China. I mean, it isn't a small potential market over there now is it?.. Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

In my case Google Images provided me with the needed info to sign up (identity theft ftw?)

Soooo, at the risk of being permabanned forever. I have a couple questions
1)What difference visually from real Eve and Chinese Eve. (Like in wow they remove all skeleton and what not)
2)Woulden't it be interesting if the two servers could be bridge to form an area of null where neither side can enter tranquility or serenity but a puerperal battle for sovereignty in between severs Maybe this world is another planet's hell. -Aldous Huxley ( -í-¦ -£-û -í-¦) - "What are your modules like?"

I always though it was sad the Chinese could not join us on TQ. But, at least they can still enjoy eve. Also the idea of two player created eve storylines is really awesome! Quote:In 2011, our licensing agreement with CDC, which had at that time acquired Optic Communications, was going to expire in July. After careful evaluation, the overall business performance of our partnership and EVE Online in China, we decided that shifting to a new partner would be the right move for EVE. Even though in the end we made the hard decision to not extend the license with CDC, we were really thankful for their hard work to launch EVE Online in China, and their contribution to its growth during its inception years. The operation team worked to the last moment on the day of April 1st, 2012, when we temporarily closed the server cluster for the transition. The whole CCP team would like to express our gratitude to those who contributed to our game up to this point. ItGÇÖs really our honor to have worked with all of you.
You shut down their server on April fools day???

The denizens of failheapchallenge would like to disagree, most of the western players on the serenity server fly/flew under the banner of Much Crying Old Experts, from what I remember of my time on serenity we managed to cause an immense amount of mayhem there.
Here's the KB link, still active as far as I can see (It's a kb for the Chinese server, if it's deemed as in violation of the KB links rule then mods are welcome to remove it)
Always bet on stupid, CCP can't patch stupid. The measure of success in Eve is not monetary worth, it's how effectively you can enforce your will on others. |

Another advantage beside all the political stuff is obviously, the time dilitation. At the downtime around 10 o-¦clock UTC it is whath time in China 8 o-¦clock in the evening? I think that should be the peak time for playing, I am really courious how the other player in Eastern Asia or Australia and Pacific deal with it. Proposal T2 BS Class Juggernaut |

I'm late to the discussion, but here are some tasty tidbits:
" It is not out of the realm of possibility that someday soon, the population of Serenity might exceed the current population of TranquilityGǪ"
"Additionally, TianCity, the EVE China team, and the Chinese EVE player base have some great ideas (as do our players in the West), and they now have a more direct path to sharing those ideas with our gameplay teams so that we can implement the best of these ideas for all EVE players in the world, regardless of what server they play on."
Well, I guess CCP knows who signs their proverbial paycheck ... "someday soon" anyways.
It's funny how all the alleged good ideas from the "Western" player base get regualrly ignored. Just saying.
In all honesty, I think this is great !!! I welcome our Chinese compatriots on Serenity!!! If the result is that great player driven ideas are actually listened to and implemented, then I'm all for it. |

Scatim Helicon wrote: - snip - hurrr everyone is blue no wars lol - snip - You may or may not have played JumpGate (classic). It was like that: a sandbox with open PvP but nearly the entire community volunteered to only PvP consensually. There was so much intel related to the PK's activities that for all intents and purposes it was an "all blue" server.
Like EvE, losing a ship was a big deal and relatively hard to replace.
Unlike EvE, if you hit objects, like the docking bay tunnel, you would self-splode.
More on topic: if the Chinese player base voluntarily sets everyone blue, then I'll bet there will be a bunch of players from TQ who would want to join Serenity ... OMG - I have entered flame war territory ...

Greetings from Serenity,
I'm a Chinese who currently studies in US. So,I got accounts on both servers.
Serenity is much different from Tranquility. The most significant one is the single fact that it is literally Chinese-only. Thus, for people in different time zones like me will have a hard time to find people in US prime time.
Players ranged from 12 (that is the yougest i can confirmed) to about 40 to 50 I guess. The majority are fans of animes and manga as far as I can see.
Also, Chinese are famous for gold/isk farming and it is natural to see majority of the players focus on ISK-earning than pvp and other activities. Once my Incursus ran to an Enyo and scared it away though most will choose to stand and fight.
http://killboard.nl/en/?a=home
this is the Chinese killboard by the way, courtesy of a player from the Netherlands.
There is also an US(maybe?) alliance in Serenity called Cry Some More.
PS: if you are interested to know more, message me. I am not a regular forum-goer I would say.
