I recommend themes when placing random bounties
for instance go to a busy system and place a bounty on everyones name that begins with "d"
when you get the convo "why did you put a bounty on me"...... "because your name begins with 'd' ;)"
anouther source of fun is to but a bounty on everyone that talks in an incursion channel as you pass through an incursion area
always makes you popular.

Yes a bounty should be able to be placed on anyone. It allows a small revenge for anything that annoys people, not limited to game actions that you want it limited to.
Besides, it is only a 20% bonus to the attackers over what they would have inflicted in terms of damage on you with whatever you are flying. The total pool doesn't really mean much aside for how many times that bonus can exist in your deaths. I got a 100k bounty on me, which would probably be good for a death or two in my rifter.
Is anyone really getting attacked frequently due to bounties anyway?
If there is a nice amount of bounty on your corp. Say 100 milllion which is small change really but a nice top-up to your wallet. And you are out fleet mining with a few of your corpies then you are going to be a ripe target and liable to be 'discoed'. |

I was in Hek the other day and a player put bounties on so many people in system, he was the focal point of local chat for about 30 minutes. He must have spent millions just putting random bounties on random people...
There should be the requirement that in order to place a bounty a player must have popped your ship, flipped your can, messed with your corpies, or war-decced your corp/alliance.
Not the ability to just place bounties on people for sh1tz and giggles. Its such an annoying trend that this is probably the 5th thread I've seen on the subject so far. There's nothing they can do about it. IMO the only way to fix this whole "bounty for ***** and giggles" Is to have bounties degrade over time. It would have to depend on the amount of the bounty as well, you can't expect people to put a 1 bil bounty on someone if it degrades ( idk 10%? ) a month for a flat rate on all bounties. Something like this could possibly work: 0-100 mil bounties degrade to 0 over a month. few mil every day 100-500 mil bounties over 6 months. Few mil every week 500-1b+ over a year. These would only degrade a few mil every day? week? Someone do the math for me. Once a say 550 mil bounty gets to 500 mil it decays more every time. Same for when it gets to 100 mil. Now this is just a rough idea, nothing that was well thought out. But imo something should be done about the random bounties. I know a bounty doesn't really mean anything other than a reward for your killer, you can't be attacked in hi-sec or anything like that. It's just the fact that everyone will have a bounty on their heads.. it just seems silly.
I....actually like this idea. +1

I feel like I have already explained this in 6-7 other threads, but having a bounty on you has zero effect on your game experience unless you choose to focus on it for nerdy RP reasons. The bounty does not equal kill rights, nor is it likely to pay enough to make a gank worthwhile in most cases. In low, null, and w-space, it is completely irrelevant.
There is no way that I have yet heard of that bounties can be used for griefing or harassment. If you can think of a way to use bounties for these purposes, then I challenge you to present it here. Random bounties on strangers, obviously, does not qualify, as it has no actual effect on the recipients, other than a notification in their box. See post #23 and #24.
The poster of #23 admitted to sitting in a system and just randomly sending out bounties to whomever did not have one... just for the kicks. Just because he knew it amused him, and did not amuse others. Thats a mild form of greifing in itself.
I also saw a post of yours in another thread where you literally threatened another poster if he didn't place a bounty on you...

What we have here is simply just a matter opinion. You believe that greifing and harassment are two totally different things. I believe they are one and the same. Long live freedom of speech! But the systems still broken...
Fair enough. As far as being able to place bounties on anyone and everyone, I do not see this as broken. Everything else that has to do with the system is up for question.

Oh oh I'm poster number #23!!! Yes it's true I'm guilty of placing random bounties on random people. Although Nastasjjia you're making it sound like I was standing trial or something with me admitting to my crime. I did have a reason, however, for the random bounties. The subsequent "targets" were in fact random as far as location is concerned. But prior to logging in I decided to give to all characters in system that did not already have a bounty ..a bounty.. The reason of course being that other thread were, at this time, people had already started crying about the new bounty system. That inspired me to do the dirty deed.
PS: When I first heard about the new Bounty system I too was a little upset... not for typical reasons I suppose, but because I went out of my way to get my Wanted sign and now just anyone could have one. This feeling was short lived when I realized that it made sense, at least it did to me, to be able to place bounties on whoever for whatever reason and it quickly grew on me. |

The new bounty system is great, being able to put bounties on pilots that are just outright obnoxious is amazing, and well needed, keep people in their place if they care about their 0 bounty. If I have the isk, i'll bounty someone harassing someone in chat, maybe 100k, maybe 100m, who knows, they don't.
People can just get annoying, I am glad i can place a bounty on them. |

Might have been me. I've been placing bounties on EVERYONE I see in various chat channels. Trolling is like art. Anyone can finger paint, but it takes true talent to create a masterpiece. |
